Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I love my fitbit but if they don't work with Apple health I will consider getting jawbone which does.

@DIanaStardid you go to the link that Ricky in his comment above above? It is in our Feature Request section this is where the development team looks for your wants and opinions. You can also vote for the ideas you like.

Please add HealthKit functionality.  I want to choose where my data goes, and if you believe I will pay for your service simply because you don't integrate with health kit then you make it necessary to consider alternatives.

I own an Aria and a Zip. I'll be leaving your products behind as well without HealthKit integration.

Well, I just caved and got Wristband Manager as a short-term solution as it is becoming increasingly clear that you guys won't be bringing HealthKit Intergration and time soon, despite it being the most highly voted request here by a significant amount.

I don't like having to pay for third-party extensions but I can afford £1.49 in a way that I can't afford to buy a new tracker any time soon. But the Withings Pulse Ox is looking drastically superior right now. Oh, and their app supports HealthKit.

So, here is a suggestion for the reps here to take to their bosses.

Commit to and announce HealthKit as soon as possible or you will find your iOS user base shrinking as we jump ship. And I doubt it will grow too much either as people interested in fitness gizmos on iOS will probably avoid anything that doesn't support HealthKit.

No more weaselling out. Either respect your customers or lose them.

Echoing similar requests.

Healthkit intergration would be positive.

I would more than likely purchase further fitbit products,

But no with no Healthkit intergration, Fitbit is now off the radar.

Hi. After sending an email, and getting told to put my requests here about the integration between apps and Apple Health, here are my basic suggestions. Being able to transfer steps from Fitbit to Health is the first major thing I think would be easy. Next would be sleep data as that is also easily interchangeable. I also think some nutritional info would be great, but can understand that would be harder to organise. I really hope this comes to pass soon, as transferring the data manually is a pain, but I like to do so. Thanks guys.

I was planning to by the Charge HR, the heart rate was someting missing in Flex and I was very exited, but now I read that there's no plan to integrate the Fitbit product into the Hearth.app of IO 8, Im really disapponited for this arrogant attitude of Fitbit managment  and I will cancel my commitment to by the incoming Charge HR.

The interoperabily and data aggragation is the key on the next devices, do not want to share the data is unbelivables arrogant approach.

Well.

Thanks to fitbits shortsighted approach, I'm getting used to my new tracker.

I don't have to remember to hit a button to start sleep mode.

It vibrates when I'm idle for too long (a time I can set). A feature people have been looking for since the first fitbit.

The vibrating alarm is longer and wakes me up better.

I'm still testing step accuaracy while wearing both my One and my new tracker in different ways.

I love the integration with Health Kit.

Today, FitBit has IFTTT integration, but since June has had integration with HealthKit "under consideration." Today, my FitBit continues to gather dust, per my switch to equally IFTTT-integrated Nike FuelBand a few weeks ago, when it became apparent that FitBit management would, at best, drag its feet on HealthKit integration. Knowing that Nike has partnered with Apple strongly suggests that I can rely on Nike to continue honoring the repeated wishes of its Apple customers. In contrast, the history of FitBit ignoring its customers was well documented in the previous iteration of these forums. I add my vote here solely to assist others who have elected to stick around while FB management continues twiddling its thumbs. Your choice to wait for tomorrow, folks. My choice to dump a joke and move on, enjoying the integration I crave, today.

I concur with the original poster. Following the "vote" link, I added my vote for HealthKit integration on behalf of others. I have already switched to a Nike Fuelband, which provides integration for both IFTTT (like FitBit) and HealthKit (unlike FB). Hence, *today*, I enjoy the integration features I crave. And, because Nike has partnered with Apple, I have valid reason to believe they will continue to delight with enhancements, rather than indulge navel gazing on the continuum. An email has been sent to FB, requesting the deletion of my FB account. Simply stated, I've had more than enough of FB's tone deafness re repeated customer requests. My FB One was fed to the trash can weeks ago, when FB's stance on this issue became readily apparent.

Has anyone here switched from using a fitbit to using the iPhone's built-in motion tracking chip? If so, what's your experience been like? Are you satisfied, or still looking for a new tracker?

I thought about doing that, but I would lose most steps inside the house, when it sits on a table. I am using the phone to track flights climbed, the one was always over estimating on windy days, I have a first floor home and rarely go down to the basement without my phone.

@Karell I've used the iPhone's motion tracking chip for tracking my daily steps prior to buying a Flex and it works great. Very accurate in my experience (and obviously syncs with HealthKit smoothly and efficiently). The reason I ended up getting a Fitbit in the first place was because the store I work for has a strict policy about phones while on the clock and I was tired of seeing "965 steps" on a day that I'd been at work for 11 hours and on my feet the whole time. It's a shame I didn't do more research before I bought the Flex, but I didn't think I'd have to, seeing the picture from Apple's presentation.

iPhone 5s as tracker works as well as Flex and Force. Phone is usually in my pocket, daily totals are close to what I received with wrist tracker.

I just got the iPhone 6. My steps are similar to fitbit's, so that is encouraging. Of course I have to have the phone with me, in order for it to count my steps. When I sm on the treadmill, I hsve my phone on the control panel. So in that sense, the Fitbit is better. I am holding out hope that Fitbit does Integrate with the Health app. To ignore it would be like cutting off their nose to spite their face. Common sense should prevail.

Hi everyone! Thanks for your feedback. I understand everyones frustration but let's remember to keep this conversation concerning HealthKit and integration. Once we have more information we'll make sure to update everyone here. Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

@RickyFitbit

I don’t know what more we can say. We have said what we want and now we have to wait, or not in my case.

Frankly back when Apple opened up everything to developers fitbit should have more actively sought out customer feedback, explaining that they didn’t know if they would integrate and wanted to know what we wanted.

Instead they let us see fitbit products in the presentation and everyone assumed you would integrate. Then when we didn’t see it happening we asked when, often being told to post here.

Which has gotten us a lot of nothing, except for everyones annoyance reaching critical mass.

Honestly to let your users to go this long with nothing is bad customer service and suicide in a competitive market.

I loved my fitbit. The last thing I wanted to do was leave, until fitbit started treating us this way.

I’m posting this via email, because I get a 400 error when I try to get to the forums.

I love my FitBit, but I also love convenience. The Apple Health Kit app allows me to have all my health info in one place and this is VERY convenient. Please don’t fall behind your competitors. We chose FitBit because we like your product. Please don’t become another Blackberry.

Ricky, if that comment was meant for me I'll just point out that my post was specifically about HealthKit and integration … I can't help that Fitbit has clearly chosen to exclude itself from that conversation.

BettyR, I agree that common sense should prevail … but how often does anyone ever do what they should? How often does anyone actually apply common sense? In my experience, very rarely. That's why when companies do, they earn my passionate loyalty. Fitbit used to be counted among those, until this childish spat.

It is very simple; either you integrate with Health Kit App or i return the product right away to the store.

Hi😄 Apple has a great program with things I wished fitbit had. Easy solution be able to sync and share with these two programs. I need you both!! Thanks I hope the sharing hopes soon!

Sorry fitbit...I enjoyed your product for years but since you decided not to support the Apple Health I will be looking for different wrist band...

Thank you Fitbit for determining what I should want and need.   I have been a fan but you all as well as I am aware there are shortcomings.  I currently use multiple apps to accomplish and monitor my health goals. Not all apps integrate with Fitbit, monitoring blood pressure is just one example. It looks like you are coming around to supporting heart rate monitors.

I make my own decisions on which apps to use not allow you to decide for me.  Since your decision to integrate and play well with others is "under consideration", so is my loyalty and the referrals I've sent your way.

I am highly disappointed with this level of attention given to your paying customers.  You didn't get to be among the top trackers without us.  There are numerous trackers entering the market and these may allow those of us looking to customize our health to our lifestyles the chance to do so when it is convenient for us.  Thanks for getting me to this point but it appears I may have to begin parting ways but you probably view me as "just one customer."
