Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

To those of you that switched to an Apple watch, would you share some of your experiences? Are you using the Apple watch as a fitness tracker only or are you using some of the other features?

Let’s start off I am an apple user –macs, ipads, iphones, apple tvs – I have a large investment into itunes and itunes movies.

I have the surge (4 months now) and dislike it because it does not integrate into the iOS Heathkit had to by two separate apps to do it, so I will not invest into any more fitbit stuff. I bought my wife an apple watch. To start off the step and distance is far more accurate on the apple watch than my surge when we walk side by side (plus I still use my wahoo) the wahoo and apple vs the surge there is a difference; I think due to lack of calibration of distance vs stride the apple figures that out where the surge does not. Plus at the desk the apple watch knows the deference between hand movements vs up and walking unlike my surge. My wife has a pocket watch now (iphone) she texts(send and receive), phone calls, calendar, and other things. The only thing I know right now the watch does not do is sleep tracking but IDK how useful it has been to even have. The watch battery at the end of the day is still 55% left at bed time and only seems to take about an hour to charge.

The new add about photos and stats overlay must not be supported on an apple device because FitBit can’t use the iOS Heathkit this would be my understanding. The new feaure what require interface the apple iOS system. The photo library is outside the FitBit app plus FitBit would then own your photo as well just like your heath data. Never know how FitBit will sell your pictures or heath data. I say this because FitBit DOES NOT integrate into iOS HealthKit. You also can not store your FitBit heath data on your phone directly from the FitBit app. So FitBit stores and holds your heath data so FitBit will all so own/store your photos.

I have the FitBit surge and the unit is pretty cool but I still use my other devices due to the fact that their data from the FitBit app does not log directly into the iOS HealthKit. I do not recommend getting the surge/FitBit if you are in iOS user. Fifbit on their support page has no support for the iOS HealthKit and no intention for future support of the HealthKit. This is shown on the FitBit support website by thousands of users begging for support of the iOS health kit support, it has been under consideration for more than a year and half on FitBits support website. Search "HealthKit integration” the problem with this is if you decide not to continue using the fit bit app you lose all your data. I see this is a major flaw in the FitBit design. My health data is my data not FitBits', I paid for the device I should keep the data.

I got my Apple Watch for the fitness capabilities, but really love the notifications and wrist apps. I also enjoy the fitness part and find it more motivating than Fitbit. I like the constant reminder on my wrist (I had a Fitbit One), the heart rate monitor, and items such as elevation when working out. I also enjoy the complications and constantly find myself checking what the stock market is doing or being reminded of an upcoming meeting. I like to check my circles during the day to see how close I am to meeting my goals. Finally, the alarms and voice-to-text are two things I didn't think I'd use but are actally great. The voice-to-text is quite accurate.

I also got a Jawbone Up2 so that I could have a sleep tracker. Although I was with Fitbit since 2012, I am through with it. Jawbone has a much better app anyway and I love their smart coaching which works well with the Apple Watch. I also gave away my Aria and got a Withings Body Monitor which is a better product than the Aria anyway as it has more features. Seems odd, but I like checking the weather and the CO2 levels when I weigh in.

Overall, I love my Apple Watch and would definitely get it again and I am someone who hasn't worn a watch in at least 5 years.

Fitbit should allow data to be synced with Apple Health. It sucks that it does not work.

Please integrate FitBit with iOS Health App! My new insurance provider (Oscar Health) sent me a free Misfit in order to keep track of my steps which I can then earn rewards back for reaching my goal. I am very partial to my FitBit, but wearing two trackers will make me look like a crazy person. A simple integration to the Health App will allow me to continue using FitBit over any other device - I don't want to give it up!

I would be willing to pay for the premium service if it allowed full integration with Apple Health on the Apple Watch (specifically being part of challenges). As an Apple Watch owner I would be loathed to buy (and carry) a FitBit aswell.

I understand FitBit is a business and Apple Watch is effectively a competitor product however adding it to the premium service would help profitability.

Fitbit seems commited to "competing" with Apple et al. in the health market, instead of cooperating. I'm now forced to vote with my money and give up an ecosystem that I really like, and have been with since the very beginnig (pre-ordered the original Fitbit in June 2009).

- Fitbit One

- Fitbit One

- Fitbit One (yes, there are 3 in our house)

- Fitbit Aria

+ Apple Watch

+ Withings Pulse O2

+ Withings scale

+ MyFitnessPal

+ Sleep Cycle

I (and I suspect, MANY existing Fitbit users) would have been very happy to continue supporting Fitbit with our future purchases, but the bottom line is that at this time, I value integration more than Fitbit's stand-alone value.

Please, Fitbit, reconsider whether or not lack of HealthKit support is ultimately helping, or hurting, your business.

EDIT: It was asked to provide an idea of what Fitbit's HealthKit integration would look like. Simple: send and receive all the data! The Fitbit dashboard and app are the best out there... complete HealthKit integration means I could use the Fitbit app as my health hub, regardless of where the data inputs are from. Seems like having the Fitbit name being the thing I always reach for would be a win...

I love my Mac, both my iPads, and recently upgraded to an iPhone6. I had a Withings Pulse prior to my Fitbit One but the Pulse died within about 2 months and I was told it was due to water damage. The only "water" it ever got on it was sweat. My One was okay, but before long I developed tachycardia and wanted something I could use to track my heart rate. I finally settled on a FitBit Charge HR (just a few months later cute colors would come out or be released from backorder). It's lovely. It helped me show a specialist my heart rate is always high (my PCP brushed me off as just "stressed from work") and get on medication. It has shown that no, I don't sleep for crap (once again, my now former PCP blew me off about being tired and thinking I have a sleep disorder). I broke my leg, had surgery, and my mom mentioned she thought I had lost weight. I finally weighed myself and realized I lost 17 lbs in 6 weeks. I love my Fitbit Charge HR. I love the watch function. Yet, I really like the Apple Health App. It syncs to Walgreens and I get points for my activity or achieving goals. I'm not sure why you are trying to fight Apple. For most of us, we really like or even love your product but we have more brand loyalty to Apple. When I upgraded my phone, there wasn't even a question over what I was getting: it was going to be an iPhone. When I replace this phone or my husband replaces his phone, there's really no question what I will replace it with: another iPhone. My kids are asking for another tablet, so before long, I will give them my iPad mini and get a new one. Yet when my Charge HR breaks what I will do. What I would love is to buy one in a pink or blue and have my Fitbit App sync with Apple Health. If Fitbit is still at war with Apple, I guess I will go back to looking on Amazon and reading reviews, trying to find the best fitness band/watch with heart rate monitoring that is compatible with Apple Health.

I will also be returning mine. It's time to vote with my wallet since nothing else seems to get Firbit to integrate. At this point it feels just plain stubbornness on their part.

Make it happen quick or users will migrate, Fitbit has the best hardware on the market right now...but let it sync...

Linking Fitbit data to the Apple Health app is not a technical challenge. Just use the API.  It should allow all Fitbit data to be seen in both the Fitbit app and the Health app.  The only possible reason this is not happening is Fitbit's tiff with Apple and the fact that Fitbit is no longer being sold in Apple Stores. Get over it!  "We currently have no plans . . . " is a pitifully petty answer. I have lost and replaced at least 6 Fitbits. I will NOT buy another if this foolishness is not fixed.

I find that I'm not even bothering to wear my Fitbit at night any more. This was the only reason for keeping it. I am thinking more and more about getting the 🍏:watch:️. Probably as a Xmas treat for myself! Health integration will be the only reason not to at the moment!

Not sure why this is under consideration and not just completed. Fitbit is really missing the boat here with this integration.  Almost all other fitness trackers put data in health kit,  even cheapter trackers.  This should have been done before health kit was released to the public.

Isn't it clear that Fitbit just doesn't want to integrate? I assume they did a cost benefit analysis and have determined it is in their best interest to have a closed ecosystem where they can charge people for accessing their data (Premium Membership) and that the potential lost revenue due to people defecting because of this issue is not that great. I find the issue fascinating and no longer have an iron in the fire as I have cancelled my premium membership, switched to Apple Watch and Jawbone (which has a much better app), and gave away my Aria and switched to Withings Body Meter. I'll probably just throw out my two Fitbits that still work as I can't recommend it anymore.

I could see that,  I wont sign up for a premium account,  I am pretty happy with the fitbit app and the Fitbit HR.  I have used the Jawbone 24 actually 5 of them and it kept failing, after 5 RMA's i just gave up I then had a MIsfit Flash wich was pretty good, but I wanted more, So I went to the misfit shine, same as the flash just in the color I wanted and metal. I decided on the Fitbit HR because it does everything I was a tracker to do.  It just seems like a no brainer to intagrate with Health Kit. I won't be getting a Apple Watch till version 2, Plus I would like a device to do everything HR, Slepp Fitness tracking and htne the app have more the fitbit HR even with its issues does all that.  the smart move would be don't have a Premium and gte your act together and use what most people are looking for.  Don't be like RIM (blackberry), we know how that eneded up.

I have also abandoned my FitBit now. I'm using a Jawbone UP Move and I'm very pleased with it - not least because it integrates with Apple Health. I was a FitBit user for 6 months. They won't be getting my money again.

I could see that as well I just sold my wifes jawbone Move.  Its nice but doesn't have what I need.  The Apple phone would be the perfect if it could track sleep.  for now the FitBit HR is really the best for what it does.

I would love, love, love to see Fitbit link with Apple Health. I have used FitBit One for a couple of years and just ordered a Surge (can't wait to get it). Please, please consider

I am already in love with the visualization options on the Fitbit app, but I would love to see the data gathered being integrated with Apple's Health. Please consider it in the future.
