Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Integrate with Apple Health App!!! Right now I am using 5 apps to track my health, this is absurd!!! Please open up to Apple's Heath App and Google Fit, this will only make people want to buy more of your products!!!

This just blows me away. It's the number 1 most voted feature request with over 2500 comments. Your customers and users want it. Pretty much every other device works with HealthKit.

Fitbit: You are alienating yourself from the entire industry.

Sure there are 3rd party apps that can do this, but why should I pay them and put my trust in them with my data when something so simple should be done here. Just develop the intergration. I'm sure you will spend less time having this "Under Consideration", and can focus that time on some other great feautre/product. The community will be happy, and I'm sure you'll have many more sales, and maybe even some returning customers that have left.

This is a must-have feature for me. The only reason I purchased a Fitbit is because I thought it already works with Health.app on iOS. Things like sleep data syncing are the very reason I want to use your trackers. Your competitors are already doing it and I am starting to think that I probably made the wrong choice.

This is a Need. I NEED Fitbit to integrate with Apple's Healthkit. I have multiple health devices that all share their data through Apples Health Kit and the Dashboard is what i use to show my Physician all of my statistics. I recently bought a Charge HR but am beginning to sorely regret it seeing as how it's not syncing with Health Kit. I'm not sure i feel like the costs savings between the Charge HR and the Apple Watch were actually worth it at this point. I'll likely wait to see what the next Apple Watch has in store and switch at that point so as not to feel like i wasted my money on the Charge HR. But i'll definately be switching if there isn't an update to allow data syncing between the two apps.

I completely agree with you @silversuperman!!!
I too am a brand new Charge HR owner, for all the reasons you also stated below....
I didn't want to pay twice as much for an Apple Watch especially since I need to buy a new iPhone shortly so I thought the Fitbit charge HR was a good choice because I need to track my sleep as well as heart rate and just all the benefits that the fitbit would give me. However, I too was completely misled by the packaging which states this device is iOS compatible… Yes using the term "compatibility" if you want to take their meaning as there's a Fitbit iOS app… We all know there's no compatibility between our devices and health care which is absurd.

I too feel like I wasted my money on a charge HR and while I've downloaded the "Sync Solver app" to bridge app to try and get some of my data out of Fitbit and into HealthKit it it's a pain and as we all know the API doesn't allow for all the data to be transferred. I hope somebody at this company is reading how unhappy brand-new users of there are devices are… We should be excited, happy and satisfied new owners of their product and all were doing is feeling cheated and ripped off.

I am waiting for healthkit integration for months now - nothing happend in the meantime. Currently having an eye on Garmin Fenix 3 (respectively 4 as soon as on the market) and Suunto Ambit 3 (respectively 4 as soon as on the market). Could be interesting...

Fitbit is getting less and less relevant to me

I made the switch to an apple watch and like it a lot.  It's not perfect by any means, but it is also a first generation product.  Although the battery life is poor and it doesn't provide the sleep data, it does provide a lot of useful information which I appreciate.

Had it not been for fitbit's mishandling of this situation, I never would have switched.  I guess I owe FB a thank you for their total disregard of their iOS client base.

While thier software and graphing tools are mostly good; they have a dilsuional hope that they can be top dog and maintain exclusivity to fitbit trackers. Which isn't even realistic because thier main competitior now, APPLE, is NOT making it a requirement to use only Apple products to use the Apple Health Kit.  They are letting apple watches .. and other trackers .. bring information into Apple's health kit. The same is NOT true for Fitbit. They have no current plans to let others use thier site to bring in non-fitbit data. I'm sure they initially saw this as a great idea to make people buy fitbit products. But that mentality has now come full circle and bitten them squarely on the (CENSORED)

This is the writing on the wall. I think they are hoping that people wont figure this out. And that they will blissuflly buy thier product without knowing that its not compatable with the Apple Heath Kid. Which would be OK if their products were unbelievably awesome. But my fitbit surge isn't even water-proof. It's pretty good. Just not great. Some of the competition is developing some really cool stuff and I will be very aware of compatibily to the Apple Health Kit in my next purchase.

I'm very impressed with Fitbit products and Fitbit's beautifully designed app. However, I'm rather disappointed with the fact that the app doesn't have support for Apple's HeathKit. I believe many customers have been hoping for Fitbit to bring this to iOS so that we will be able to sync our Fitbit Data to the Health app. Fitbit is all about keeping customers active and healthy, so I hope that my health data can be synced to the Health app so that my health data is unified.

To tell the truth I want native enough integration with Apple's HealthKit that if I am a part of a ResearchKit application it can get the information live to use in the research.

I just bought an HR and was horrified to discover that FitBit is playing these games with Apple.  So many of your customers CHOOSE to use iOS and want Healthkit integration, yet the company has taken such a strong stand against supporting Healthkit (while claiming iOS compatibility, a misleading claim at best) that FitBit products have been removed from Apple Stores.

For goodness sakes, stop wtih the politics and support the fitness core software on one of the two platforms you sync with.  You're doing a disservice to your clients by choosing any other path.

In the meantime, I am looking around for an alternative to the HR, and will return mine once I find a suitable device that does play nicely with Healthkit.

Is there any way to get my weight from my Aria scale into Healthkit?

I have used a fitbit for over a year and like it but I now wish to have all my information in Healthkit. It is incredible that the scale I bought doesnt appear to do this.

gutsma

@Brian6 - You will have to enter your weight manually into HealthKit.  That's why I gave my aria away.  Sorry.  I know it's frustrating.

@Brian6 You don't have to manually enter it.You can use IFTT to sync it to Jawbone Up (the purple app) and then use Jawbone to sync it to Health Kit. You can also use Sync Solver, a $2.00 app in the apple store. Sync Solver works well, but you often have to prompt it to sync.

My recommendation is to sell the Aria and get a Withings Body Monitor as the sync is automatic 🙂

I just got my Charge HR today and was baffled to discover Fitbit doesn't sync with iHealth. I'm returning the device and getting a competitor that does. This is simply a must-have feature for me.

@HopefulRunner - I'm up to date (v.2.11.1 as of July 15, 2015) and there is still no option to sync any data directly with HealthKit.  Are you seeing otherwise?

Opivali

Same here. There is still no integration with Apple's Health Application through Apple's HealthKit Platform for sharing data between application, your doctor or researchers through ResearchKit. I also do not see any HomeKit, Works With Nest or SmartThings integration to provide a more natural and gentle wake up process.

@HopefulRunner can you explain what you mean. Do you mean time for honesty from Fitbit or honesty from us?
netdog

Sync Solver eliminates the graph from Steps in HealthKit, and replaces it with dashes straight across.  There are many things that I love about this FitBit Charge HR, but it's going back.  No integration with HealthKit is a dealbreaker.  FitBit would do a lot better if they'd think about their customers' needs instead of their own ambitions.

@iwatts, It is time for us to make new reviews in iTunes expressing exactly how we feel.

Exactly. I updated my iTunes review to one star and included a write-up to express displeasure in the lack of Heslth Kit integration. Probably should do the same on Amazon, Best Buy etc where you bought the product.
