Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

It has been almost a month since a Mod has said anything. Because there is no new news, no change, no hope they will ever integrate. Someone brought up Beta vs. VHS. Beta had better quality and was still used by news crews long after VHS won the war. Beta became a niche product. Fitbit might have best hardware, but it is risking being betamaxed.

Just download the data manager app. It is for a minimal fee plus I
personaly dont like the health app of apple. It is not as user friendly
than the fitbit app which is easier to understand. But I agree that fitbit
should try to integrate it withthe health kit so we wont have to buy an app
for it.

I think the writing is clearly on the wall, Wall Street in fact. Their stock has seen a precipitous drop over the past year. While it's been as high as nearly $52 a share, the price is now down to about $16. Shareholders are talking with their wallets. Sure, there are other things pushing their price down but it can't help that they've clearly alienated and ignored their Apple device customers. Some of those who likely might have, or possibly would have been, investors.
Cute ads will only get you so far. If your products don't produce what customers want, they will go elsewhere.

I'd love to see this in the future: i actually bought the Fitbit Charge HR so that i could see my heart rate in the apple health app, only to find out it doesn't sync! kind of a bummer!

So: Please please please make the fitbit "syncable" with the apple health app! Thanks!

+1. It's sad that we have to use a 3rd party app that re-authenticates every 30 days to achieve this.

It wouldn't take much to get this to work, I hate that it won't sync with HealthKit. Please or when I upgrade I won't keep a fit bit.

I just bought Fitbit Charge HR after deciding between various trackers and I am shocked and disappointed that Fitbit does not sync with Apple Health. I now feel I should have gone with Jawbone UP3 that according to a friend of mine sync with Apple Health just fine. Please add this feature as soon as possible as this is a serious downside to Fitbit.

I have had a Fitbit and a aria scale for years. Switched away from Fitbit bands because of the lack of this exact feature. I reviewed their app and gave it a 1 star for its failure to play nice with Apple. Basically Fitbit is a dying product (which is sad because it was once a good product with a good reputation). Now it is headed for extinction because it won't evolve with the times. Hoping my aria scale breaks so I can ditch Fitbit entirely.

Jirons, here I am !!!
I belong to a group of 40 Fitbit users, declining and a growing group of Apple watch users.

Face it More and more devices, health and analytics apps will be integrating with Apple Health and will be a standard integration point.
But I still love features of the Fitbit app with challenges and such. But My Apple Watch friends can't participate. As more folks turn to the watch to use health and my Fitbit friend list diminishes, you may end up right and I go with a single device and community.

What is remarkable is that Fitbit marketing and management don't even care to respond to these hundreds, if not thousands of frustrated Fitbit customers. I have not experienced such a display of weak management, non- responsive marketing and even worse, a dismissive customer support organization. If I was on the board, I'd fire the CEO.

Sadly we are left with only the option to vote with our feet. I will regrettably use my Surge until it breaks or more likely when the competitive options vastly improve. In other words, I am jumping ship as soon as reasonably possible.

@friskymav Just an idea, but you can use IFTTT.com to log your Fitbit steps to the free Jawbone Up app. Jawbone has "duels" that work really well. If you send your steps to Jawbone then you can participate in a duel with your Apple Watch friends. Jawbone's Up app actually does a nice job of using Apple Watch data. It used to be a bit shakey, but now it is much better. Also, in general, the Up app has a superior recommendation engine and I find its insights quite useful.

If you can return your charge HR, then I would. Based on the fact that
there are posts going back over a year on this tread alone, as well as the
thousands of other posts on other threads, websites, I sincerely doubt
Fitbit is going to change their stance on Healthkit integration. There are
third party apps that import some of the data from fitbits to the
healthkit, but based on review, they are not as reliable. Plus it is just
annoying that you have to pay some other company to do something that
should be included with the product you bought.

I would exchange for a different product. If my Aria scale wasn't a couple
of years old, I would exchange it,

I kind of understand fitbit not wanting to integrate their charge/surge
data with healthkit, because they are kind of competitors. But it makes no
sense to me that they won't integrate the Aria weight data to the
healthkit. Its not like apple has their own scale.

SPECIFICALLY:

I would like the steps from my fitbit to sync with the IOS Health App. I do not carry my phone everywhere, but I always have my fitbit on. SO for me, the most important thing, at the basic level, to sync with the health app, is to allow the fitbit steps to write to the health app.  (This would then, in turn, allow the dozen other apps I have that sync with the Ios Health app but NOT fitbit, to use the fitbit step data anyways!)

Hi Everyone!

Thanks a lot for your feedback! Currently, we don't have an update on HealthKit. We are, however, still receiving and forwarding your feedback. I understand that it's been a long time since our initial statement and I understand your frustration.

We greatly appreciate the time you've spent to share how a HealthKit integration would help you achieve your goals.

Thank you.

@RickyFitbit and others - I give up! I am selling my Fitbit and just purchased a product from a competitor. I will enjoy its integration with Apple Health Kit.

Let me give FitBit some free adivce. Copy and paste this tweet: "@customer, thanks for your tweet. At this time, Fitbit has no plans to integrate with Apple Health Kit."  Now copy and paste that to all twitter replies instead of asking people to add their thoughts on this thread. I think THAT is the source of most of the frustration here, including my own. You're giving people hope that they're going to find the answer they want, when you know that's not what they're going to get.

It's silly to ask people to reply here when the company has already made up their mind. After buying 5 fitbit devices, they have lost a customer for life!

michaelkent,

Well stated.

I found the phrase "We greatly appreciate the time you've spent to share how a HealthKit integration would help you achieve your goals." fairly trite and obviously a lie because Fitbit could care less about integrating with Apple or Google.

What the heck was this response all about. Haha. In anycase I benched my Fitbit as it is pretty much useless without integration. Sure I can use sync solver. But why. Beside the information. Does not mesh well.

The app Sync Solver connects Fitbit to Apple Health

Before anyone says, I am aware you can get apps that do this for you but it's hassle to do this all the time. I would much rather FitBit allow their data to be shared onto Apple's servers to post into the Health Dashboard as that's where a load of my information sits and its a lot cleaner than the FitBit App
