Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

THere is an app that can export FitBit data to Health Kit. It is in the Appstore.

I personally don't feel Fitbit can ever compete with an Apple Watch. The only reason I bought a Fitbit charge HR is because I read all the good reviews, and it's affordable price point. Knowing it wouldn't integrate with Apple HealthKit. For me it is a temporary solution for the next couple of years until the Apple Watch gets a GPS and hopefully an lte chipset for stand alone calling. Then bye bye Fitbit. Like I said it's a good band and a temporary fix. An entry point if you will into the wearables market for me 🙂

Wow. 118 pages (on mobile) of comments asking for iOS HealthKit integration and FitBit is still digging in their heels? Now I'm never going to buy the UA Band. But the Watch is just going to get better. I'm on my third Fitbit product. I love them. But if it's not going to be useful in all the non-Fitbit health related apps, I'm going to have to shift my loyalty.

I had thought today. What was the last new app to be added to the list of compatible apps? What would motivate a third party to use Fitbit's API?

I cannot believe that fitbit refuses to allow healthkit intergration.  This is either because of lack of knowledgable programmers, or tunnelvision of the people making the decision. Programmers can be hired and decision makers that refuse to offer what the end user has all but begged for since healthkit was released need to be replaced, even if that goes all the way up to the CEO.

Fitbit products is not a smart watch but more of a watch for active people.
It only allows call text notifications. If I want to take calls I have my
bluetooth earphone with me and it works fine that way. The. only time I
have to bring out my phone is when I have to reply to the text message. I
can also listen to my music thru my bluetooth earphone while running/
walking.

Adding features like calendar / IM / Chat / reminder notifications would
really be helpful. If ever it is possible to add reply templates, I would
really love my surge then my whole life. 🙂

Love love love my fitbit! My only complaint is that I have to take it off at some point to charge it. During that period of time, I would love to be able to still track my steps via my iPhone / Healthkit. I'd also love to have an integration with Healthkit so that any steps I take while my fitbit is charging. Thanks for leading this awesome technology! It's truly helping me to get fit!!

I'd also like to see Fitbit data integrated into health kit. This not only puts it all in one place, but may make it available to other sources Thanks! (That being said, the Fitbit App is really great - maybe apple should make that the standard?

If Apple bought any third party app in the fitness arena, it should be Jawbone Up. That is a great app with a pretty good artificial intelligence that makes useful suggestions based on your activity, weight, etc. Even the Under Armour app is better than Fitbit as it uses IBM Watson to make fitnes sggestions based on your data. When I was an active Fitbit App user it was a pretty "dumb" app in that I don't recall it using any artificial intelligence to analyze data and make useful suggestions.

Thanks for sharing your opion humanista. As it is, this is a FitBit site, and I'm using a FitBit product (with which I'm quite happy, since Jawbone didn't offer anything comparable...), so I've limited my thoughts and my comments to FitBit related issues. Maybe your suggestions for improvement of the FitBit app would generate more real value if they were put in a post that is relevant to your concerns?

If I'm being 100% honest, the fact that Fitbit still seems to have no plans to integrate with the Health app over a year after it's release has me regretting my decision to go with their step tracker.  I'd like to be able to see all my data of interest at one single point, without having to jump through hoops.  Clearly there are many people who are feeling the same as me.  Once I'm down to my last unbroken Fitbit Flex band, I'll probably start researching other step trackers, rather than continue spending money on something so behind the times.

frankly, I can not understand that after all this time, even fitbit not synchronize with IOS. I think it would greatly improve the user experience and would be more comfortable having all the information in one spot . Fitbit think is wrong in this regard and may risk losing users.

It seems to be a fatal flaw that fitbit doesn't sync with IOS.  Fitbit really needs to get with the program and work with the Apple Health app.

Not being able to sync is not much of a bother to me since we have the data manager app. Besides Fitbit can keep our record. I pretty much prefer added notifications from email and other messaging apps since text messaging isn't much used these days.

Really wish Fitbit would support Apple Health. Would be nice if I could sync all my data with the Fitbit app so I can compete with my daughters fitbits. But the lack of integration with health prevents this from happening. Looks like I'm taking these fitbits back.

FitBit stands alone as the leader in fitness trackers. I am an Apple customer since the first Mac was introduced in 1984. The Apple Watch is an amazing and high end product that is bringing fitness awareness to millions. The FitBit line is more affordable and its interface app is user friendly. I own both products and don’t leave home without them. Cheers for Apples and Oranges (FitBits) for keeping us focused on our fitness goals.

+1. Id like the ability to visualize my health data on my phones native apps on top of tracking it with my trackers/Fitbit app.

The Fitbit app and apples health kit go together. Please, please integrate exporting Fitbit data to Apple health kit!

Please, Let Fitbit integrate with Healthkit.

It is frustrating that fitbit won't accept steps collected from apple watch (synced to Health app).

I understand fitbit gets money by selling hardware, but you can monetize from community members too (i believe).

If fitbit holds these feature integrations too long, you only risk loosing members (including me).

It is only a matter of time where some other company offers similar social features with health kit integration. I eagerly await that.

I believe the battle is already lost. Under Armour are realising their own hardware this year. They already own the most used fitness aps out there (Endomondo, MyFitnessPal), sync with Apple Health Kit (and interestingly sync with the fitbit app, but not the fitbit band).

Once their hardware is released (it may already be in America) it is only a matter of time before they dominate the market.

I'm not neccesarily saying that is a good thing - I just think it is inevitable. For less than an apple watch you get multiple products including scales  that work together, work with apple, and play nicely with other systems. Seems a no brainer.

This is just stubborn, bullheaded crap. FitBit just isn't thinking long term at all, and while I used to recommend the FitBit products to friends who weren't interested in an Apple Watch, knowing that the company is being completely closeminded about integration (in 2016!) means that I now recommend other more integrated or progressive-thinking companies with other devices. I have a lot of friends who use the FitBit app and I've owned two, but as an Apple Watch user I won't be wearing two devices and even having all of my friends on the FitBit app isn't prompting any change in that decision. I would use the app gladly with integration, but it's clear the company has no desire to be inclusive with other data and is actively BLOCKING (SyncSolver not being able to use step counts for sending data to FitBit) attempts to integrate. SO disappointing.
