Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Thanks for re-posting @Sherri0

@tigerwizards, it's been 26+ months since Fitbit itselft started this thread and continues to ignore its userbase. This thread is nothing but a deception, giving false hope to new Fitbit owners that HealthKit Integration is going to happen.

iOS is going to be at version 10 in September (notice that this thread started at iOS version 8). The second Apple Watch is coming out soon as well with rumoured GPS and improved battery performance, getting closer and closer from being untethered from the iPhone. That's progress. What has Fitbit done for you in the last 26+ months?

I would like Fitbit to sync with the Apple Health, Nike Run, Blue Anatomy, and MapMyRide! It would be so much quicker if I didn't have to keep inputing all this info on all these apps. Thanks Fitbit, you guys are the best, I have hooked everyone onto your program. Love you guys

As the song goes, that's it, I quit, I'm movin' on.

I've found the fitbit to be quirky, inaccurate, lacking in battery life, and despite my hopes, not very useful.

My iphone, in my pocket is much more accurate for distance and steps, and the sleep monitor is a very rough estimate, at absolute best.

Maybe I'll get another wrist thingy, but definitely won't waste any more time on the fitbit.

Thanks, and goodbye.

Just got an Alta. Disappointed that it doesn't integrate with Health. Sad that there are 3500 requests over the last 2+ years but no integration. I'm still in my return period so we'll see how well this goes.

Just got this in my email from Fitbit. Could the exclusive contract some people suspect exists is now coming to an end?

We’re reaching out because we noticed your Fitbit account is integrated with Microsoft HealthVault.

After careful consideration, we’ve decided to end our support of Microsoft HealthVault. As of September 12, Fitbit will no longer send data to HealthVault. You’ll still have access to your previously synced data through the Fitbit dashboard.

Rest assured we’re always looking for new ways to support your health and fitness goals, and we encourage you to visit fitbit.com/partnership for other integrations. Please let us know if you have any questions at https://contact.fitbit.com

APPLE watch! Here I come.
Sounds like some favor has been applied by a big fish. I don't even care anymore. ALL Christmas gifts in cash or Apple gift cards, if anyone asks me what I want.

it would be glorious if we could integrate fitbit and apple heatlh

for now i'm wearing an apple watch on my left and an alta on my right and I look like a total dufus.

I'm afraid that my fitbit days are about to come to an end unless we can get some sort of integration.

I'd totally be willing to pay a fee for that type of software.

Come on fitbit, lets do this thing.

Surprised to find Fitbit not one of the apps to link with Apple Health to display data on Apple Heslth home screen. Am I mistaken or is this just a dreadful oversight?

Fitbit sells Fitbit devices, not Apple iWatch.

The Fitbit objective is to capture user data, and tries to sell them Premium option.

No interest to enlarge Apple business, but Fitbit.

Business is business.

Fitbit objective is to capture user data - exactly! Apple does not capture weight, blood pressure, food intake, etc. That is left to Fitbit and others to do. Apple provides capability to DISPLAY this data in one place on home screen, saving user Afro of visiting half a dozen apps to manually collect data to get overview of health. How else can I see blood presure, blood sugar, carbs intake, etc on one screen? I think your response is ill informed on application of Apple Health in this market. Why do other competitors in this market make their data available to Apple Health if it is not in their business interest?

This needs to happen, Fitbit. It's been far too long, and it's keeping me from purchasing any new Fitbit products. Make it happen. We need HealthKit integration.

Is there any update on this subject? I was considering buying a new fitbit and the aria scale but won't be bothering if I can't sync to other aps, such as the health app on my iphone.

No update and FitBit hasn't joined the discussion, they're not very customer orientated. There was one comment a few days ago that suggested something may be happening in September but this was not made directly by FitBit so it's anyones guess. If you can wait two months before committing I would wait. If you can't wait I wouldn't buy FitBit.

Davide9999,

Thanks for the reply. I can definitely wait and agree that they have pretty bad customer service, especially for a company that is supposed to be about helping people. I bought a Charge HR about a year ago that immediately stopped working and I had to fight for 3 weeks to get them to send me a new one!

Fitbit used to have amazing customer service. Then there was an IPO and
everything changed. More new models and a some good ideas, but with flawed
execution.

Also true for the app: new prettier dashboards but reoccurring sync
failures and the need to go through convoluted steps to make it work again.
Although maybe I should attribute steady stream of updates and the need for
them to the Microsoft alliance.

I really miss the original Fitbit, both the devices and the company. They
used to exceed expectations at every opportunity.

IOS Health Integration is a must, Withings now supports it, time to do the same Fitbit.

I had my Fitbit One for almost 3 years before it fell off and was lost. Now, I'm holding off buying a new one because there's no way to sync with my Apple Watch. I'd be willing to pay for a Fitbit iOS app (even a price comparable to an actual tracking device!) that will work as a tracker to sync. In the meantime, I'll go without a Fitbit.

@Kail, Withings, Garmin, Jawbone, and many other other companies (both hardware and software) have integrated with HealthKit since its introduction over two years ago.

Customers loyal to Fitbit have been given nothing more than the silent treatment for this same time period. They continue to be ignored on a thread that Fitbit itself started. Very classy and respectful on Fitbit's part.

Does Fitbit deserve your loyalty? See beyond the marketing hype and you're left with a company that does not really care for its customer base, produces poor quality products, and continues to deceive potentially new customers.

How many of you have landed on this thread to discover that your new Fitbit doesn't integrate with HealthKit after purchasing the product with the promise that it 'syncs' with your iPhone? To some degree, that's why Fitbit created this thread, to perpetuate the deception that you should have done your research before purchasing your Fitbit. Even Fitbit's customer support refers clients to this thread when they have questions about HealthKit integration, no direct answers given. A company that is not forthright with you does not deserve your loyalty.

Progress wise, Fitbit is stagnant. For heavens sake, iOS is going to be at version 10 next month. iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2 are soon to be released as well. What have you got with Fitbit? - still a low quality step counter that locks in your fitness data for Fitbit's benefit, not yours, and no HealthKit integration (after 3000+ votes for this feature).

Liberate yourselves from Fitbit. Ask yourselves what would happen to your valuable fitness data should Fitbit disappear one day? That might not be far from happening seeing its downhill slide in customer satisfaction, poor product quality, and lack of progress.

@PKDaba,

I agree with everything you have to except that Fitbit started this thread. It started a Fitbit customer wanting integration.

It is also more or less run by users, I mean when was the last miderator posted?
PKDaba

@HopefulRunner, my mistake. For whatever reason, I thought that the original poster @so-rich was a Fitbit staffer. I do vaguely recall that he had the Fitbit logo attached to his profile identifying him as part of the Fitbit team. Fitbit's response in bolded text immediately after @so-rich's first post saying that our responses are being 'listened to' (more like ignored) also added to the confusion. I first came across this thread a while back. 2 years is a long time and things may have changed for @so-rich.

Regardless of who originated this thread, it is facilitated by Fitbit and under its control. Ironically, this thread is at the 'Top' of its features request forums.

This thread would not exist or be needed if Fitbit simply put on its packaging that its products do not integrate with Apple HealthKit. They won't do this because Fitbit will make a quick buck out of unsuspecting customers who may not initially realize the importance of HealthKit and how their fitness data is being locked in and profited by Fitbit.

I do like my Fitbit Charge HR but the lack of Apple HealthKit integration will ultimately push me to an Apple Watch.  In the fall when Apple announces the new Apple Watch and the price of the original Apple Watch drops I will probably move.

The Fitbit staffer would be @RickyFitbit.

I can understand the confusion.
