Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

Hi everyone.

I'm sorry for the delay in response. I'm still gathering your feedback and am forwarding it to our team. Please understand that I'm unable to provide a decision for you, however, I will take your feedback straight to the team so they can review how you would envision an integration with HealthKit.

In the meantime, as previously stated, we have not changed our stance: We do not currently have plans to integrate with HealthKit.

Thanks for your time and patience while I provide your feedback.

I don't see the watch and a step tracker as an either/or decision. I quit
wearing watches a long time ago, and wearing one all the time now would be
awkward.

Having a tracker that integrates to the Apple Health app makes it easy for
me to have the best of both. The watch is perfect for my work day, and a
tracker is better for workouts.

Think it's a bit ironic that Fitbit seemed so paranoid about losing
customers to the watch, but that's not what's causing them to leave.
Failing to provide tools to allow customers to integrate and customize how
they track their fitness is the real turn off.

Well, thank you for making it official that I am done with fitbit. You have
made it clear that this company only cares about money and not customer
service. Not to mention that employees are trained to lie directly to the
customer.

@zellner3 I'm sorry you were misinformed. Please private message me the information that was wrong and I'll make sure to escalate it within our team and provide you with the correct information.

I hope to hear from you soon!

Hi RickyFitBit,

While you are unable to provide a decision for us your comments certainly help us to decide. With well over 3000 comments in favour of this requirement the stance of FitBit that “we do not currently have plans to integrate with HealthKit” simply means that we will use the devices until they fail and then migrate to another platform that will give us a one stop database of our data.

It’s clearly a head in the sand business decision that will lose you a lot of customers and a lot of goodwill.

This is simply unbelievable to me. I bought my daughter a $25 Misfit Flash and it works wonderfully. Integrates with Health app. You can wear it swimming. Plus, she lost it while running (somehow came loose from her shoe) and they sent her a replacement for free! No questions asked!

I like my Blaze...but I only purchased it because the Apple Watch isn't in my budget right now and I would rather wait for AW2. If Fitbit would start showing some concern for their customer base it would go a long way in keeping us loyal. However, the fact that it took this many people to respond negatively to this thread before a moderator took notice is baffling. Also, why can't I customize my blaze screen? What if I only care about steps? I would love to double tap and just see steps. Why am I stuck with 3 clock faces? Honestly, I didn't buy this because I wanted something on my wrist to tell me what time it is.

I joined this thread early on and with a couple of people still on here from the early days still use a Fitbit.
But as my second Fitbit is now falling to bits after less than a year I'm moving to Under Armour hardware. The ecosystem looks amazing, better than Fitbit, as well as sharing with Healthkit.

Seems a no brainer to me.

Well I love my Fitbit more than Apple Health since all my friends have a Fitbit. I live competing against them. Luckily I have an app to sync with Apple Health when I want to.

just to be clear, I would love a way to sync the steps I get on my apple watch (and any additional data that the watch collects) with Fitbit.   This would allow me the opportunity to take advantage of weeky competitions and friend challenges while wearing the watch instead of a fitbit device.

I totally get why fitbit is hesitant to allow this since it could potentially cost them money in hardware sales, however I would totally be willing to pay money for some sort of integration software to make this happen. I'm sure hundreds of thousands of other users would as well.

Thoughts?

Which app is that? My problem is if I forget my FitBit nothing from my health app in my phone will transfer over.

I am shocked that after two years and 3,000 comments this is only "under consideration". Jawbone did this literally years ago. As an iOS user, I expect integration between my Fitbit and my iPhone.

I just switched to Alta from UP2 and I was really surprised that Fitbit doesn't sync with the Health app. It made me think If I should return my Alta???
I believe this integration should be one of the basic feature.

Instead of starting a new thread with the risk of votes being split. Then neither thread will advance, suggest adding your votes and comments to the main request.. There you will find Fitbits official response.

Still early days, but so far Power Sync app seems to work well to get data into Health app.

Looks promising though the duplication of step data needs to be addressed promptly.

Fitbit needs this. Open your data to the world of health apps and hardware. +1

This cannot happen soon enough.
Fitbit has really dropped the ball and made a big business blunder on this one.

If Garmin products were not so problematic (odd strap sizes, and app technical and UX problems) I would have left long ago.
Adding fitbit to Health will bring a whole new life back to aging fitbit devices (keeping users from fleeing, as they are now) and add new options for new/replacement devices.

If Apple comes out with an Apple Watch "Mini" at a lower price before fitbit gets onboard with Apple Health, I am also gone.
The sooner fitbit gets on the Health app, the less likely this drain of fairly happy to happy users will accelerate.

+1 for Apple Health and wechat app. I bought Fitbit yesterday. Surprised that it was not integrated with iPhone health and wechat. Please improve this.

This wasn't an oversight, fitbit doesn't thrust itself on to third parties, they have setup an API and let anybody that wants to to connect to your fitbit data.. So far Apple Health refuses to.
