Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

The explanation is simple, the new Fitbit Charge 2 is out.

I'm am sure someone has suggested this before, but just looking around I can not find another post about it.

So I think a great feature in a future update would be the ability to sync the info from either your Fitbit app (or directly from the Fitbit itself) into Apple's Health app.

Another possibility would be to add features similar to the ones in Healt to the Fitbit app such as your medications, medical history, vitals, etc so you wouldn't need Health and all these things could be in the one place and easily accessible.

Fitbit could even keep the traditional app for free and create this second one as a premium app and charge for the download and actually make money back on it.

Thank you.

This Thread has caused quite an uproar and a host of deleted comments.

Yes, many have been asking for this and some of the comments have had to be be deleted by moderator HelenA.

So, I do hope all who have a Fitbit and an iOS device will express as friends, our collective desire for positive change to making the Fitbit more versatile with the Apple Health Application.

Stepping Up

This thread asking to integrate with the Apple Health app was started when there was iOS 8 in 2014. It's going on almost 2 1/2 years. I understand that just because many people want it, doesn't mean you'll do it. Your business, your choice. What I don't understand is why you don't go ahead and give a thumbs down or thumbs up. That shows a total disregard for your customers. You don't have to do what many want but you could at least have the courtesy of announcing  a decision after all this time. Is this a carrot you're dangling to keep customers thinking there is a possibility? It certainly appears to be. I switiched from Misfit ot Fitbit. If some decision isn't announced in the next few months I don't mind switching again. But, I definitely will not keep waiting and keep reading posts on this thread while the company says absolutely nothing.

Na... Just use the Power Sync app and there you go. Everything populated. Health is useless for me but my data is there if I want.

Thanks for the solution. I looked and could not find. I will try. Thank you.

Stepping Up

I keep going back to the top of the thread and reading the title ... "Integrate with iOS Health". Seems very descriptive. Most of us know there are workarounds, but the thread isn't called "Workarounds".

I saw the ad for Fitbit Charge 2, looks great but I won't buy it until Fitbit starts integrating with Apple's HealthKit.

Up until earlier today, I did not know there was a work around application. I posted this request on the Fitbit Facebook page and the moderator suggested I post the request here. That is what I have done.

@BearJeep It is not quite a workaround as it only transmits summary data and not the granular level of data you would have with a native integration. Due to this reason, I left Fitbit behind two years ago. I moved on to a Jawbone which has a terrific app and then to an Apple Watch Series 1 and then an Apple Watch Series 2. I also switched my scale from an Aria to a Withings Body Monitor and now Withings Body Cardo. In my opinion, a company that will not liston to/respond to their customers does not deserve said customers.

Im so confused as to why the fit bit is still not able to sync with the iphone. The Fit bit is the most popular fitness tracker and the iphone is yje #1 selling phone so it only makes sense that i be able to have my data in my health app. I walked and excercise on a very tegular basis but my health app thinks i move 3k steps a month. Crazy! Please please make it compatible I would hate to have to get an apple watch just for this feature.

@BearJeep, thanks for that info. I'm sure this is for legal protection against folks claiming new features were their ideas and requesting compensation. That said, with the thousands of comments on this topic it pains me to think that FitBit is choosing to not listen to their customers and, arguably, their most passionate ones...the ones that take time to provide information and feedback on their products.

A while back I subscribed to this thread so I could see what other folks were saying. All I can say is how disheartening it is to see dozens of people asking for a simple feature to go unheard and unanswered by the folks moderating this forum and/or representing the company

So, after 5 (ish) years with the great FitBit community, as an avid supporter, I’m calling it quits. Last night I boxed up my Force, Surge, 2 Flexs, 2 FitBit Ones and my Aria Scale. I’m dropping all of these off at a local donation center later today. At this point I just need to make the switch, stop hoping for something that isn’t coming and take my money elsewhere.

Thanks for the update. I too am sorry about this. I will use my surge until I can afford what I want next. But adding Apple integration and Sat GPS will be nice features. In spite of the negative comments, the comments deleted by the moderators, I personally appreciate the time folks have spent making a positive plea for Chang and also the knowledge of when they have reached the tipping point.

I own a FitBit Flex but I'd love to get a tracker with heartrate. Just today I saw the new Charge 2 advertised. It's got a lot of the features I want, is in my price range, and I'm ready for an upgrade, but then I saw that FitBit *STILL* refuses to sync with Apple Healthkit.

Guess I'll have to check out some of the other brands......

@HumblePie I am with you. I've had it (along with the other half of my friends in the fitbit community that now show a status of "inactive"). I've received my Apple Watch and LOVE IT! It works so well and the integration is amazing. I'm not sure why I suffered so long without FULL Health app integration. Fitbit will not be missed...

I just bought Charge 2 to find out it doesn't integrate with the Apple heart app? Quite a disappointement. I was told Fitbit was a leading player in this category. Would you please integrate and not 'fight a war' over this. I can not believe you do not have the resources to do so. Must be something else. Or will you - as a company - also start integrating with all other devices like scales etc .. Still considering whether to return or not ... Sorry, but quite disappointed.
