Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

ChrisCA... Just because I keep posting does not mean that I haven't voted...

I never suggested you didn't vote.

However, many people posting in this thread did not vote.

On this page alone (21 of the thread), 8 people have not voted...

Havnocents, ChiChi, Bluejay, JimD30, Splathowa, simon82, MiniWalks, hep8urn

The fans shouldn't have to petition to save it...

I agree totally.
But since they want the votes, then what? Just ignore it and take our football and go home?

I think the reason fitbit does not want to integrate is they hold the data. All the other programs that integrate with fitbit get the data from fitbit. Now they would have to give up the data and send it to apple. If you look at your program there is no place to connect to programs. This would cause a major re-write of their software.

Also they want the income from their premium service, because they don't make much money on their devices.

That being said, they're going to make a lot less on their devices if they ignore 400 million iPhone users.

I don't realy see much point in this health kit app at the moment, its only a simple line graph and doesn't give you much information. I was expecting more.

It's not supposed to be much more.

It is a repository for other apps to store/exchange data.

ChrisCA, I have voted. When I use my computer their is check and it won't let me vote again. So take your attitude and do something helpful.

iOS 8 and fitbit. We all understand that you have spent time and money making your app relevant and useful for all of your users. The only question becomes will it be better for fitbit to be on its own or tied into "health". It is my beleif that being tied into the health app will only help and allow your users to make the choice for themselves which app they will find more helpful in their personal goals. Thanks

I'm a premium user. I had it for a few years, skip a year, and signed up again. Not to down load my data. I like the trainer. I decided after not having it for a year I missed it.

Bluejay,

I am not a premium user, would you recommend it and do you think it would be worth using and doing manual data transfer when you wanted something in the Health app until/hoping/and if Fitbit agrees to sync?

Joes...

The data download is basically a spread sheet. I didn't miss it. I like the trainer because it keeps increasing my weekly calorie burn goal. I missed being pushed to beat myself.

They asked us to vote... I voted... Fitbit has the football now and apparently they aren't planning on returning it anytime soon... If ever...

Fitbit...destined to become the Blackberry of the wearables market. You should have started HealthKit integration in June when it was announced. You are taking your commanding lead of this market and flushing it down the toilet.

I would love for Fitbit to sync with the Apple Health app.

When will you begin integrating with iOS Health App? As an app developer, I am shocked that you have not planned for this release. It's a competitive edge that you are letting your competition to gain. Time to "Step" up.

vote?  WTF?

Fitbit update your iOS app NOW, and get it working

or I (and everyone else) will be selling your hardware on ebay

and buying an Apple Watch...

clock is ticking (pun intended)

Fitbit says they read these conversations. I'm beginning to have doubts. Please will someone from fitbit join the conversation. Start with a nothing more than, "Hi, I'm <?> from fitbit. Tell me what you want to sync." Or, "Hi, I'm from Fitbit I'm reading the comments." Let us know we are not wasting or breath.

Ricky,

Please join the conversation.

So so far the only integration with this thread is tell people to come vote. No one from Fitbit has posted in this conversation.

Stuned and shocked that you have not integrated with Apples Health Kit, are you guys daffy? Nice way to lose customers to competitors and/or the Apple Watch, next year. And your asking for users to vote?? Who's the brainchild CEO making this call??

I was also looking for this future, but it looks like we all may be waiting for a long time...

Here is official response for my direct question to fitbit support:

...We don't have immediate plans to integrate with HealthKit. We'll watch HealthKit closely as it matures and look for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience. In the meantime we'd like to hear more from you about what you'd like to see in a HealthKit and Fitbit integration...

Fitbit team I hope you are going to listen to your users and make it happen really fast before we start looking for new activity trackers which do offer this integration.

Yes... please integrate our data with the Health app. I've been using Fitbit since before I had a tracker... tried several others and liked this one best. I tried a One but could never find a good place to clip it on... the Flex was better, but battery life was an issue (gave it to my brother when I got the Force). The two things I love most about the Force are battery life... it often lasts me two weeks... and the digital display. If the new Apple watch only last one day at a time something likethe Force will still have a great appeal. You can use it to track your sleep if its on the charger evey night.

In any case, being able to integrate a couple years worth of data without starting over is a big deal.

obviously I meant "can't use it to track sleep if its on the charger every night."
