Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

This is a huge oportunity to make your devices even smarter and more integrated - Please support these APIs!  Thanks!

I have an Ultra that is starting to come appart at the seams and will need to replace it sometime sooner rather than later. I assumed that I would just replace it with a One and it would soon be integrated with HealthKit. One place to keep track of everything. Now  with Fitbit acting so strangely about HealthKit I'm looking for alternatives. What alternatives are there to replace the Ultra. I do not like wristbands and it must sync with Healthkit.

Not really sure why they wouldn't link up with Healthkit... Thankfully there is no shortage of trackers out there in case they decide not to. Just would like an answer from Fitbit so i know when to put my One up for sale.

Well, that cancels my plans to buy a fitbit for my wife for Christmas. I will buy her a product from a company that actually gives customers what they want!

yeah . . . this seems like a no-brainer to me . . . it should be integrated to HealthKit

I can't imagine why integration to HealthKit hasn't already happened yet. Please support these APIs ASAP.

I got the bad news email this morning as well.  I was of course disappointed, however, I will not knee jerk react and take my business elsewhere just yet.  The Force and Aria are and will continue to be trusted, reliable companions in helping me achieve my fitness goals.

In a world that has become focused on rushing to fullfill the demands of consumers at all costs, above  a sensible, considered and solid business approach, I find it refreshing to see a company responding to it's customers with honesty and integrity.  The truth is not always popular, but I respect FitBit in not providing some "false hope" marketing driven answers to desperately hang on to market share.

Of course I would like to see my FitBit products inform the HealthKit App of my statistics and progress, but it is not a deal breaker as I am happy to continue to use the reliable hardware products and trust that the software will be updated as soon as it is feasible for the company to do so.

I know quality when I own it and FitBit offers that fo me.

Stay well and keep active!

Dear FitBit folks,

I've read recently that you don't intend to support HealthKit integration anytime soon. I was honestly expecting that this was just a foregone conclusion and that it was an imminent release.

Is this accurate? Is Fitbit actually holding off to determine if this is something that "should" be supported? Please let me know soon, because I'll return this FitbitFlex device I just bought and move to a product that integrates.

Why is this even a question that has to be asked? Anyone using iOS would be looking for this integration going forward, and any new iOS user will be looking for ways to integrate their data into Healthkit. Unless you want to kiss goodbye to the iOS market, I would have thought integrating Healthkit was an obvious no-brainer business decision? What is it you need to watch maturing? A market where you are no longer present?

Anyway, I'll give it a few more weeks, and if support isn't forthcoming, I'll be selling my Fitbit Flex for an alternative that DOES support Healthkit.

Well I got more information out of fitbit today

Seriously.  We've got two fitbits and an Aria scale.  I'm going to be VERY disappointed and consider other options if they're not able to integrate with Health.

We apologize for your frustration, and want to assure you we have read all of your replies. At this time we have no more information to offer regarding future integration with HealthKit. We are constantly working on ways to improve our products, but do not have plans to integrate with HealthKit at this time. Please feel free to provide feedback within the Community. I agree with others on the thread. My fitness data is mine... I pay fitbit to help me track that data. It is bad enough that Fitbit makes me pay for premium to get access tot he data via downloads- it now appears you are going to further hold the data hostage to your platform by not integrating to HealthKit. This leads me to believe that Fitbit wants to own my health data and hold it hostage- not enable me to be the healthiest I can be. Fitbit- let the quality of your hardware and apps speak for itself- allow users free access to their data- it's a path to a better place. Once I know I have this access- and the data can be shared out to HealthKit I'll buy your next gen tracker. If no, then I'll jump ship and have to eat the cost of the Aria.

Guess I will jump ship too.  I love the Flex, but lack of integration with the Apple Health app is Fitbit missing the boat.

Help me understand why integration with iOS 8 and HealthKit are not in current plans?

Is seems that alienating Ios fitbit customers will only serve to force them to seek out other providers of wearable devices. I am loyal to Apple products before Fitbit.

Hopefully Fitbit leadership carefully thinks through the decision not to integrate, and reconsiders. When my Fitbit (which I like) dies, I will move on if Fitbit continues down the current path.

Apple watch (pricey) but maybe Garmin vivosmart?

I really would like to see integration with the iOS8 HealthKit. That would allow me to view all of my health data from multiple apps in one place.

I have a feeling that the decision not to integrate with Apple's Healthkit will be one of those moments when this company looks back and see clearly the mistake they made. Reminds me of Ballmer thinking that the iphone was just a passing fad. I guess Fitbit somehow imagined this was a threat to the paid subscription scheme....seems unlikely. I'll be joining the others finding products that integrate. Fitbit was interesting while it lasted.

I love my Fitbit. That said, the lack of integration with the new Health app and the overpriced and unappealing Tory Burch accessories make me question their ability to sustain their market share. I'll stick with them for now, but my patience won't last forever. Moderators, if you're reading this, please listen to your user base.

I was really would like to see a Health Kit Integration. Or at least a suggested work around. I would like to consolidate my health data into the new iOS8 app if possible, and having another app as a stand alone is not a super desirable solution.
