Integrate with iOS Health

Hi there,

I'm really excited about Apple's announcement of the Health App in iOS 8 to be release this fall.  I'm looking forward to seeing a product announcement by Fitbit for a successor to the recalled Fitbit Force, and I'm really hoping to hear some exciting news about Fitbits intigration with Apple's new Health App to be released alongside iOS 8 this fall.

The bright side to all of this is that Fitbit is being fair and screwing over android as well by not integrating with Google fit either... And to the mods, if we are getting off topic it is only because this has gon on this long.... 74 pages and no yes and no no. I will no longer but fitbit products, I just found out my parents who I bought the force for and had a bad reaction are thinking about get you new bands. I will do everything I can to get them to not buy them... They do run android for now. Tell us yes or tell us no. This has gone on to far.

@RickyFitbit

I think every comment here has been relevant to "HealthKit and Integration". Even the ones concerning alternative options, etc.

We've asked for intergration. We're being messed around. We're considering jumping ship. And, you know what, I can't really justify the price of changing to a Withing Plus Ox right now but your entire companiy's overbearing and arrogant stance is making me stump up the cash (that I don't really have) to buy something this week.

Many of us never had "patience". We had a desire for HealthKit integration. This is what happens when you try to sideline the most highly voted request.

Sorry, but yesterday i deleted my FitBit App because under such circumstances it is not possible for me, to support FitBit ! It is completely useless !

I bought the fitbit on the basis of your commitments i.e. the data remains mine, and you as a company are seeking to improve health. You appear to be hoarding my data by not making it available for integration, and ignoring the benefits that integrating could bring.

I get it, it doesn’t serve your corporate interest … I'm disappointed that your just another greedy corporate and won’t be checking out this community anytime soon.

@roger24 I think you hit on the essence of the problem.  Fitbit holds your data hostage  unless you pay $50 per year for their premium service. Then, and only then are you allowed to export your data to another source.  Other trackers do not do this. They actually feel that your data is actually yours.  What a concept.

So the first fitbit comment on this tread was:

Nothing new has been added by fitbit since then. Sure they have commened. Asked us what we want. Asked us to stay on topic.

But what is fitbit doing?

I would like to think that over 1,800 comments would speak volumes. As a Fitbit user, I also share my desire for the integration with HealthKit. With so many others already integrating with it I just don't see the advantages in holding out.

Perhaps it might go over better for us if Fitbit was a little more forthcoming about why they don't want to integrate other than the "...it is an interesting new platform and we will watch as it matures, looking for opportunities to improve the Fitbit experience."

As requested my invisioned expereince is simple: One location where all health information from a variety of data point can be synced together for a single 'whole' picture of my health. Including data from my work health websites, doctor visits, food trackers, step trackers, and personal notes.  Also, I would want a brief evaluation of my data (anonymously) and recommendations for improvements.

It looks like I will be selling my One and my Aria and leaving the Fitbit system for something that will integrate with Apple. $$ is the only thing that will speak.

I was just about to buy my firts Fitbit. I was going for Fitbit Charge. It was quite bad surprise to learn that Fitbit made a desicion not to integrate with Apple Health.

Now I'm going to buy Garmin Vivofit.

Very strange and not smart desicion by Fitbit.

Hi.  Been a fitbit user for many years.  I have upgraded through 4 versions of fitbit, plus, due to my propensity to lose them, I have purchased several more,  Plus I've convinced at least 3 other people to buy them.

They just lost me as a customer.  If they believed in their product, they wouldn't have to build the wall to protect it.

I just bought a Misfit Shine.  Love it.  Plan to buy an iwatch when it comes out, and to wear the Shine swimming, at the beach, or when I want to wear a fancy watch instead of the iwatch.  I admit, the fitbit interface is a little better than the Shine, but I'm happier.  And I'll be happier still that it "plays nice" with my apple iwatch.

Oh, please do. I was looking at the Surge to replace my old Flex, because I don't need the honky monstrosity that Apple calls a "watch". I just needed a Flex Plus (watch feature+heart tracker+stairs+GPS, etc,... score!), but without IOS Healthkit integration, weeell...

Jawbone just update their "device" (bleh, forner owner here) to support Apple Healthkit. The Fitbit line of products are too elegantly efficient to not be able to work in the IOS Health sharing ecosystem. They just are too functional and non-sensical, and just plain work.

"10/8: We do not currently have plans to integrate with HealthKit."

Hmm, missed that part or it has just been added. So why ask for a vote?.Smiley Sad

That's the question for the ages. This is probably my last post here, everybody. Good luck to you all if you choose to stay - maybe Fitbit will change their minds sometime down the road. Me, I bought a Withings Pulse and it should arrive tomorrow. Looking forward to having a fitness/sleep tracker that will sync with HealthKit without me begging.

To be (uncharactieristically) fair to Fitbit, it does make sense to keep the voting and comments open.

To us, as customers/users, HealthKit Integration is  no-brainer. Tie all your fitnetss gadget info together in one convenient ever-present place. Your smartphone. But it was only officially announced in, what, June? And Fitbit is their own company with their own roadmap.

If full integration with a third-party system isn't a part of their main plan, it becomes obvious why by October they still have "no plans". As to why they are still accepting votes? Well, they need to be able to to whichever higher-ups make the decision that HealthKit is something that people really want. If the votes and thread had dried up last month, then it wouldn't even be worth considering. But this much input probably makes it easier to present the case.

Now, personally, I still think that they should have been looking into it the moment it was announced and have a new update either already out or at least fully announced this time last month. But I'm not a corporation. I'm just a tech-savvy end user with a known habit of wanting more out of technology than companies are usually willing to risk. 😛

And a new version of the iOS app has been released. Don't forget to refresh your AppStore reviews to reflect your feelings about the current situation. The rating resets after each release, I believe.

This is officially my last follow up here.  I now believe they dont care about us.  I just saw the Jawbone is releasing a very solid updated wristband and it supports the key features I want, including healthkit.
I'm over this.  In 3 weeks, I will be switching to a different tracker for my birhtday.

Fitbits company policy on this is insanely dumb.

I'd love to see Fitbit integrate with the HealthKit app rolled out with IOS 8 if this is not likely to happen I can see I'll need to change the device I use for monitoring and give up Fitbit use altogether. That would be such a shame

I have been a loyal Fitbit customer for some time now...and I urge the Fitbit overlords to add Healthkit integration.

A swarm of new trackers are flooding the market. No need to beg guys. It's shameful.

My force is coming up on 1 year old.

I've really enjoyed using it, but am now considering upgrading to a device which will do more (heartbeat tracking, for example), as well as allowing me to pipe info into the Apple Health app.

If Fitbit are not going to allow that, then I'll simply swap to someone who will allow it (Nike, Jawbone, Withings - there are plenty of options).

What do you say Fitbit?
