Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

we all buy the fitbit surge for different reasons

it is really promoted at a fitbit product to help stay fit . if it is worn on the wrist then it's basic function should be as a watch . it should tell the date time and hopefully day soon i hope . the settings function should have the ultimate control over the function  as well as the butttons . why don't we have coloured dials for the watch face as well . and many  many apps to download . why so few clock faces to choose from .

I noticed the same issue after the firmware upgrade. I am interested in always displaying the heart rate, rather than the clock. It makes sense to allow selecting any screen to be permanent, instead of defaulting to the clock. The clock is the most predictible and easy to obtain from other sourses (laptop, phone).

It would be extra awesome if we can combine different view, like clock + HR, or clock + steps.

the clock is more important  to me than the pulse . i like to change the clock face to a different one each day . we need more designs . and some with the day as well please asap

I agree to go to the way it was before the update. Or give the user the option to choose.

Please allow us to set either return to clock or hold of this screen.

I'd like it to either go back to the way it was prior to the update or give the option for the user to decide which screen is the 'home screen' or to lock it to particular screen...

thanks for the consideration

The update should never have been put out the old way was much more efficient.

I disagree I think that the 15 seconds is good

Haha, it's unlikely we'll all agree on a specific view. I can almost bet Fitbit will allow locking any of the screens.

Can I just come by and implement this? I want this fixed so badly and I'm not far away from your office :). Promise I won't break anything.

Correction, I meant Fitbit office, not Rodshaz's headquarters :).

I don't like the new way the screen reverts back to the clock. I would like to lock the screen on what I want to see not what Fitbit wants me to see. I almost sent the watch back.

thanks for the support. I also would like to see what I want to see and not what Fitbit wants me to see. My fitbit is worthless for me this way.

While exercising it is easy to knock the buttons and pause or stop the exercise.

Please could a feature be added to lock the buttons, by pressing both buttons at the same time or holding on the touchscreen.

Prior to the last firmware update, I could leave the HR monitor display on all day, and it would not change. Now after the last update, it reverts to the Clock display after about 5-10 seconds.  I bought the watch for the HR monitor, not the clock!  Please don't dictate my displays, and how I use the device. Change it back.

Voted up.  I am very open minded when it comes to updates and changes. This is probably the only one ever (in many products) that has irritated me 😞

I like to keep the screen on my step goal.  Especially, in the building I work in. I will do two laps of the building for about 1000 steps, and I like to monitor it on my wrist. Every time I look down... the time is back.  This was very disappointing to me,

Yes very disappointing, I have the same problem, also With my heart rate, But what to do about it? Kind regards.

You know, people buy products because of what it does, features,...  Adding features is fine, but when you start taking features away, like being on any screen you want any time you want as jgauthier says, it's irratating.  You don't spend $250 on a product so "developers" can make it into something other than what you purchased. So stop doing things different to existing features, please.

Agree with many comments regarding latest firmware update.  PLEASE fix the "auto" clock face default that occurs when viewing HR, Steps, Stairs after 15 seconds automatically going back to clockface.  I want to be able to stay on the screen I choose and not have to every 15 seconds swipe from the clock face!

I fully agree. Kind regards.

would be great if we could touch the screen for 5 secs to lock or unlock or push both the buttons together on the the same side to do this. I wear my surge all the time and although I want to see the stats I also need to look at the time regularly for my job. I find in always having to swipe back to get it

I like the change as I wanted the watch to display the time by default and found it annoying that the display would accidently get changed leaving other data visible to whoever could read the device on my wrist.

To keep us all happy the next development stage for this functionality should be to give users the option to choose if they want the device to have a default view which it returns after a set period of time.

The point is that the change was not needed. If you wanted it to stay on time, then you would/ could, just leave it on the time. Some people only care about the steps. I only cared about the HR monitor. Previously, everytime we looked at the device, it showed us exactly what we wanted it to show us, without have to swipe the device 1-5 times. It's freaking annoying, and making think hard about returning the device, just because of a stupid firmware update.
