Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

I bought many fitness trackers and returned them all because they all lacked one feature that I wanted, the ability to monitor my heart rate at a glance. And then I bought the surge and was able to put it on the HR screen and leave it. Certain fitness activities I do I want to just glance at the screen and see just my hr, I don't need any other information that I have to look around for the hr. And then fitbit did the update and changed it to where it defaults back to the clock after a certain amount of time. AND IT WAS NEVER MENTIONED IN THE INFORMATION PROVIDED ABOUT THE UPDATE. HAD I KNOWN I WOULD NEVER HAVE DONE THE UPDATE!!!!!!!! FAIL FITBIT

Hey solar_flare, maybe there is a way to temporarily revert to the previous firmware? I think the interface is always subject to change -- I would not be that upset, but instead provide helpful feedback, so next upgrade we'll get want we actually want. On that note, I don't always know what I want actually, until I try it out and see how useful the interface is :).

+1 to allow locking device on chosen screen(clock, HR, steps). Or at least(as a hotfix maybe) add ability to disable this newly introduced feature with automatic switching back to clock via app or device settings.

I also bought this device for fitness and all-day activity tracking, I have one of my reliable watches on left hand and Surge on right. since update it feels like you're an idiot since you wear 2 watches.

Please revert back the change (15 seconds to clock face) and then go back to the drawing board and figure out the problem you wanted to solve and the ideal solution to that problem.

We all can live with the earlier behaviour (prior to the 15 seconds to clock face) for as long as possible/required, until you throughly workout to solve and decide what is best for the users.

Thanks for reading this.

For me it was ok, not ideal but ok.
With latest update unsatisfaction level went far enough to find this topic(among a bunch of similar) and argue about forced move back to clock.

yes, sometimes it did move to other screen, maybe 1-3 times a day, thats not good, but acceptable. and since I didn't want watch there it almost always shown me what I need. now it shows me what I need only 15 seconds after I swiped to that screen

@w1ld_b0ar - 'now it shows me what I need only 15 seconds after I swiped to that screen'

The new problem is very well put in the above statement.

I'm not happy with the change.  I didn't purchased the Surge to know the time; I purchased it for the ability to see the # of steps, BPM, etc. I don't understand why the Clock face was the easiest solution.  How about you give us the option to determine which face we would prefer.  I'm so upset with the change that I no longer want to wear my Surge anymore.  It’s completely frustrating and disappointing.  Please give us the option.  AGAIN, WE DIDNT BUY THE SURGE FOR THE TIME, WE COULD HAVE PURCHASED A STANDARD WATCH FOR THAT!

OK, I think the best option would be for fitbit to let us decide, in the options we can choose to let display go to face or stay where we slide it to. I HATE the fact that it goes to watch after 15 seconds. Though I think the other update where the battery charge symbol is on the face when charging is GREAT.

Please, PLEASE make it so when I want to use the HR, it stays on the HR until I change it back to what screen I want

So why did fitbit decide it need to go bact to the clock after 15 seconds?  Why isn't it like before, whatever screen you want it in, you put it on the screen and it just stays there until the USER decides to change it.  I don't understand why they think they needed to change that.

Some may want the watch, some may want the steps, some may want the HR...  Some may want one screen one day, and a different day, how, weerk, a different screen.  Before we put it on a screen and it stayed there, now it always go back to clock.  I don't understand the change.  Could someone explain that????

I switched from Force to Surge and kind of regret it 😞 The force was perfect for me because I could wear it with my diving WATCH - "Suunto". It wasn't very conspicuous I mean and pretencious as a time displaying mechanism. Now with the surge i'm really unhappy because you make me take off my beloved watch. I think that a huge % of the people purchase fitbit not for the "15 sec return to watch option" but for a personal motivator and pace buddy. I really dislike that I can't keep my SCREEN OFF or lock it on the steps e.g. In the beginning everybody was taking me for an idiot with two sasc'watches' on both hands haha It is not fair. You are forcing me to put back on my fitbit force and to return this one ! I've purchased for year and a half Force,Aria,ChargeHR,premium and surge and this is the first time you disappoint me that much.

give the sure a battery save option so that it still tracks but auto hides the screen. and must be optional to turn on or off.and simple to use.

Lock screen for any screen would be awesome, especially during exercise - save battery and reduce the chances of pausing/ending an exercise early.

I bought the Fitbit Surge to continuously see my heart rate.   I have no need for the watch function.  Since the upgrade I cannot lock onto the heart rate screen, or any screen, without it defaulting back to the watch.  Had I known Fitbit was going to do this, I wouldn't have bought it, and unless this is corrected, I will dump mine in a drawer and look to the competition.  A VERY, VERY bad move by Fitbit.

I'm happy with the current solution. I have other wish-list items, but I like that this is a watch by default.

@johnnymillion -  It's a fitness watch and NOT a traditional watch. Most of us purchased the Surge as a fitness motivator. The Fitbit developers are unfortunately listening to those who want it as a fashion statement and not their core customers who purchased the Surge for the fitness capabilities.
