Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

Constantly knocking buttons or screen to end runs/workouts prematurely. I bought the blaze as a low cost alternative to an apple watch or garmin type fitness tracker but the lack of a lock feature is killing my enjoyment and practicality of the device for me. Will have to trade in for something else if this is not fixed sadly as i love the device and the interface in general.

Can we have a touchscreen lock for the Blaze too?

im finding mine is virtually useless when running or riding with sleeves, or gloves, as the slightest touch on the screen either pauses, or altogether stops the activity!

I also have these problems when ice skating. It can get quite "physical" with the hockey gloves on ;). But I have learned that if you pop the Blaze out of the band and rotate it 180 dgs and put it back the buttons will not work. It's still possible to start a workout and finish it without the buttons. For me it usually is the buttons canceling the workout when the gloves push them. So this workaround works for me until Fitbit has a better fix 🙂

Well I wish that the case was just that no one is paying attention however go back in this forum a week or so and you will see that I called and spoke to someone even after chatting online with a customer service rep, who told me they don't really take in our "suggestions for improvement " because there are just too many. I told her this wasn't just a suggestion it was a true problem (I.e. A Bug) that needs to be fixed asap. Completely unconcerned.

How has this been reported for over a year and nothing has been done? I use this during kickboxing and it gets turned off several times a workout!!

I've found the touch screen is being knocked during workouts. This results in workouts continually pausing and starting or finishing them all together! Such a pain especially when you finish a workout and realise it's been paused since the beginning! A lock for the touch screen or deactivation of the touch screen to start and stop the workouts would be a great idea. Stopping and starting should only be able to be done with a side button so this doesn't keep occurring.

I workout from 4-6 times a week and sometimes twice on one day. This means that the exercise tracking stops for me several times a day. I don't like taking my watch off, remove from frame, flip 180, insert back into frame, put watch back on. My temp solution till I buy another NONE FITBIT tracker is to order an $8 rugged frame and band off of Amazon. It looks like it has some protection around the buttons to keep it from going being press accidentally. Hoping that it'll match my business suites or not too easily notice. Hate carrying around another band and added more things to do before my workouts!!!

I would definitely use some kind of lock while I'm sleeping. It would be good if it would turn off, but still measure my heart rate, because I always feel like it's using more battery than it needs to while I'm asleep.

So, based on all of these comments, I guess there is not a fix for this yet?  Very disappointing!

An alternative to the Fitbit lack of continuous heart rate display
function, is a simple pulse - oximeter. Until Fitbit revises their
position and restores the heart rate lock screen, I have resorted to a
simple crutch, the finger tip pulse - ox. Google pulse - oximeter. You
will be treated to a number of devices. I picked one up for $16.99. It
works. You can find them even lower than $16.99. On the other hand, there
are models much costlier and with bluetooth connectivity. I see these
advertised on The Tennis Channel. At about $299 you get bluetooth and
smartphone apps that log and chart your pulse - oximeter data. Are these
pulse-ox devices the be-all, end-all devices to supersede the Fitbit? Are
these the complete answer? No, but at the price, it addresses several of
my cardio assessment requirements. Sometimes you just need to be
resourceful.

I like Blaze , but getting so frustrated with workouts getting paused either when the side buttons hit my workout gloves or when I go in planks or do push-ups and the creases of my outer wrist hits one of the buttons. I lose track of my workouts like this 2-3 times a week .

In addition when you take the blaze off to charge , touching the screen often disables settings , etc , lock screen is a must for this product.

Not being able to lock during exercise is very very annoying I am fed up of losing exercise results. You feel cheated.

come on Fitbit it should be a simple software update. A number of people have already suggested the easiest solution, long hold on bottom right button when in exercise mode.

Just came back from a 25 miles bike ride, where I hit a heavy rain storm at 13 miles, which caused my fitbit to cancel tracking my exercise. What a load of rubbish that we have to vote for this feature which is actually a product defect. Get it fixed already please otherwise over to Garmin I go.

Another request to add the ability for a lock when exercising, yet again this morning a 4 mile run was stopped due it pausing and stopping, this is regularly. On my Suunto I can lock the screen when I start to run or cycle stopping this issue

Very frustrating and would like to see this finally added to the OS as it seems to have been asked for a number of times. A long press to hold would be ideal

Update:

I eventually got so fed up with this I know just wear my Blaze upside down and that sorts it for running, not ideal but at least it works

Can you guys suggest other tracking devices that have the hold/lock feature?

HeyItsOmar

Its a simple software solution though.  This should be implemented in the next firmware update.  Just make it a long hold.  They could also make it a button pressed multiple times within x amount of seconds.  Could also do a combo of buttons, top left, right, bottom left button kind of thing. Or for the blaze 2 they could make the buttons 90 degrees from where they are right now. Just suggestions for fitbit.

Dear Fitbit:

Since you are unable to provide us locking features for the Blaze, would you mind editing my Saturday exercise so that it shows one session?  As you can see below, I was enjoying a great workout, and it accidentally stopped tracking, probably when when we were doing push-ups. So, I had to restart and now my dashboard two sessions recorded, that's great.   Thankfully, I noticed it stopped tracking, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to restart and get the full record of the workout.  I know it's a minor thing to you, but your Fitbit commercials shows a bunch of people in high intensity workouts, so I just assume there would be no issues with your top of the line Fitbit tracker.  Sadly, over the past year, this sort of occurrence is becoming all too frequent, and just darn annoying.   Anyway, as I've mentioned, since you're too busy to add locking mechanisms to your Fitbit Blaze, maybe you can manually edit my workout session at your end?  At least until you get around working on a solution.  Anyway, would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch!

By the way, you're probably wondering, why is this so important?  Well, for people who are serious about tracking their progress, recording your workout sessions accurately is a big deal, believe it or not.  It gives us a sense of accomplishment, and helps motivate us to continue on.  I like looking at my dashboard and seeing all the progress I've made.  I wear the device to help me improve our wellness.

Button lock is a must. Nothing more frustrating than checking my Surge during a cross-training run and seeing that it paused itself a mile ago....

Yes please.. This is the most frustrating part of my Blaze.  I take it with me constantly to record my activities and then after a session of kickboxing or any activity where the screen could potentially be pressed I am disappointed to find that my Blaze stopped recording and complete 5 minutes into the exercise.

If there could be a combination to unlocking / completing the activity (touch screen and then button or hold button for a period of time) that would enable me (and other Blaze wearers to record the activity we deserve).

By the way, there are at least 10 blaze wearers in my Kickboxing club so it's clearly a winning device and with this tweak it'll be an exceptional device.

Totally agree, they've no interest in offering the customer what they want...and don't get me started on having to have the location setting ON to sync, what the hell is that about!

screen lock on fitbit blaze please.  have had multiple rides not tracked accurately due to the watch ending the exercise session.  sweat? sleeves? who knows.  screen lock time!

I 100% agree that the fitbit blaze ( an any other fitbit models worn on the wrist ) should have a lock screen feature that allows a user to lock the screen of the fit bit during a tracked exercise session.  I'm sure one of the 3 fitbit buttons on the blaze could be held down for 2 - 3 seconds during a tracked exercise session could be made to lock the screen once a session begins.

The reason I would like this feature to be made available is that I like to do rounds on the heavy bag using boxing gloves and I've notice that the gloves touch the screen of my blaze will pause or completely exit the exercise session I've started...very annoying since this device is suppose to help me train and track.

This feature should be added sooner, rather than later.  It's obviously thought to be an important 'must have' feature of many fitbit blaze owners.

Don't hold your breath. I got my Surge two xmas's ago and the only
update or upgrade I've seen was on the day I connected it to my computer
to set it up. Since then nothing. Lot's of unhappy customers.
