Lock Touchscreen to Clockface

I'm finding over the course of the day and while sleeping my Surge's touchscreen becomes switched from the watch face to one of the other screens. It would be very helpful if there was an ability to hold down one of the physical buttons to lock the touchscreen on the watch face and repeat to unlock. This would prevent accidental navigation away from the watch face. Please consider adding this functionality in a future firmware update. Thank you.

Moderator Edit:

The latest Surge firmware update added a function which reverts Surge to its clock screen after 15 seconds. Some users would prefer to continuously view another data tile, such as Steps, Heart Rate, or Distance. This is no longer possible for more than 15 seconds outside of starting an Exercise log.

This existing Feature Request represents a good solution to the issue, and I encourage anyone who might be interested in this new feature to vote or comment in this thread.

Agree I do kickboxing 3x a week and my workouts are constantly paused missing most of my workout...making this watch useless.

People have been asking for this feature for years and it's not even in the brand new Ironic. I will not be buying any more Fitbit products when simple features aren't even considered.

I agree in adding some sort of lock feature. Too many times my sleeve of a shirt will terminate a workout...or PAUSE the tracking of a run...even FINISH it. Quite annoying. Maybe even develop a different touch screen that is similar to that of an iPhone...only a finger touch or stylus can activate the on-screen button.

It would be great to have screen lock! The comment from "moderator" is not a solution to this problem. I sometimes start workouts accidentally. But the most annoying thing is that notifikations is sometimes turned off by accident.

Kids love fidgeting on the fitbit, to be able to lock them out would be great!

I would love to be able to hold down two buttons or something to lock the fitbit once I've started an exercise. As a workout watch I'm finding my Blaze rather hopeless.  The Bluetooth connection to my phone drops constantly and a 16km bike ride registers as 1km and many workouts have been stopped after a few minutes because something nudges against the watch.

I was hoping the blaze would be a proper fitness tracker but now it's merely a trinket.

2 button press for 5 seconds to lock screen off while in workout mode as to not inadvertently press the pause and finish workout buttons with shirt, hockey gloves, boxing wraps, etc.  Please and thanks.

Fit bit there's currently 41 votes for this suggestion and daily comments regarding adding this feature. How many votes do you need before you'll reapond or look at this feature!?

Started having the same issues at the weekend whilst cycling with long sleeves on, kept feeling my Blaze vibrate and when I got home and synced to dashboard my data was all over the place from constant stop start issues, a lock screen is a must please

It happens to me so often that my Blaze stops recording my exercise. Its annoying. Maybe a lock would help.

This HAS to happen - kickboxing is impossible without a button lock feature. It starts and stops every few minutes, rendering the watch useless.

With it being Christmas time, im likely going to invest in another product that's not Fitbit related if we can't get a fix here. Very disappointing.

My workout gloves press the pause button on the fitbit ionic everytime I move my wrist while lifting weights. The only solution I’ve been given is to wear it further up which would the put the device on my forearm. I will be returning this device for this reason. When, and if a software update allows the buttons to be locked during a workout I will consider repurchasing as long as I haven’t already found a different fitness tracker.

This would be an invaluable feature.

During runs in the winter, a wet (sweaty) long sleeve shirt or jacket sometimes activates the touch screen and I have had runs inexplicably pause.  This was a bigger issue on the Blaze.  I currently wear a wristband to prevent the sleeve from touching the fitbit watch face; however, I might soon have an issue with gloves when the temperature drops a little more.

I think it would be great if we had an option to disable the touch screen pause and stop options during exercise and could only pause or stop a run (or other exercise) by pressing the buttons win the right side of the watch.

What do you think?

Or, as others have suggested...  press and hold a button for a short while rather than a tap and go.

Running outside with longsleeved windstopper the sweat inside the sleeve makes the fitbit touchscreen do all kinds of crazy and annoying things. including pausing / stopping runs. Very frustrating. This is the only thing stopping me parting with 300 notes.

Hi all, while not a lock feature, I have recently found these

Replacement Heystop Ultra Slim TPU Protective Case For Fitbit

available on Amazon, and this is a rubbery wrap around case that makes it much more difficult to operate the buttons by accident.  I have done a couple of exercise sessions and experienced no problems at all.

hope this helps.

Having just purchased the Ionic, I have used it 4 times on 4 different exercises, on everyone of them it paused...very annoying! I read reviews and nowhere did it mention the pause problem....between this and my wrist band falling off I think I've made a bad purchase.

It's possible to fix this problem either in design (change the side of the pause button) or add a function of lock screen, I can't believe Fitbit haven't addressed this issue yet, It's amazing this hasn't been widely publicised, perhaps it's time someone did....

Living in hope for a solution within the Fitbit.

I posted this on the FB page and they asked me to direct message them. Obviously didn’t want it too public on their page!

The solution they offered was wear it further up the wrist, I had to explain that it slides down the wrist and then too loose to make contact for the pulse monitor.

I’ve also re contacted them regarding what they are doing with the issue and I was just told that when a solution is found they’ll say so on this thread

This is the reason my partner and I haven’t upgraded to the ionic. They’re not getting £600 from us until this is solved!

Thank you Fletch999, I don’t get why they haven’t addressed this issue yet... I may need to go via FB...

i have you be of these silicone covers but sadly it still pauses.

Best solution ion I have found so far is to wear the Surge on my Right wrist while riding / exercising so the Pause button etc are now pointing up my arm so nothing can press the button.

A lock feature and and the ability to display heart rate as default would be useful still

Agree with a lot of comments.  I would like to have a lock function updated into the software.  Many times while lifting weights or doing cardio...pushups, etc..when I bend my wrist a certain way, buttons are pushed and my blaze is either paused or stopped all together.  Very Annoying!!!  The ability to lock the buttons is a must.  I like the tracker over all, this just needs to be fixed.

I’m now wearing mine further up my wrist and so far so good although annoying that I have to keep checking it throughout the workout.
An option to lock is needed

This has to be implemented or this will be the last Fitbit I use.
