Log Swimming in Yards on iOS Mobile App

I have found that when logging swimming activities, the distance units used are in miles and kilometers (and fractions) which are more suitable to log activities such as biking and are not that accurate when logging swimming.  It would be a lot more convenient to be able to enter the distance in yards or meters.  Of course, the calorie calculator would have to be fixed accordingly and I know from the blogs and my own experience that you have had issues with that feature in the past.

Great device for tracking steps but requires improvements for some of the other exercises.

Thanks for your consideration,

Hi @mcarland thanks for letting me know! I just checked and you can do yards but only on android. I have changed the title to reflect this and will try to talk to the team to see if that's something we can bring to iOS. You can however log activity in yards on the web dashboard, so that's always an option. Thanks for clarifying.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing - you can currently set your pool length to yards (or meters) in the advanced settings - more on that here. If you are on android, you can also manually add swimming as an exercise in yards or meters on the mobile or web app - more on that here. Thanks.

Yes, I can go to Advanced Settings and change the pool length back and forth from yards to meters. But this is inconvenient! I swim half the time in a pool that is 25 yards and half the time in a pool that is 25 meters. And after two years, still no action on tracking in yards/meters rather than miles.

All I want is yards and meters to be options as distance units in the Exercise Tracking on the app.

I swim laps to exercise and I count in yards, but if I want to add my workout to my day I have to use the computer desktop site instead of my phone because my phone (iPhone 7) only offers miles and kilometers. Literally all I'm asking for is to be able to input a workout as "3000 yards" instead of "1.8" miles because miles are way less accurate.

Hi @msl813 thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us -this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here. Please check out the first post of the page 1.

I know it already exists, I posted it again because the original post is
from four years ago and the issue has still not been fixed. I am looking to
be able to add my swim workouts through my phone app and not through the
computer and I have yet to think of a good reason why this hasn't been
added yet.

Currently when I enter a swim activity in the app it forces me to LOG the swim as miles or kilometers.  It will then convert them to meters or yards if you go back in to view the exercise.  Users want to LOG the swim as meters or yards.  The miles/km is very inaccurate for a swim.  There are many posts about this dating all the way back to 2014.  Each post leads me to a location telling me how I can change the units, the only thing it changes the units on his when I go to view them.  The log is still done in miles and km!

I'm sure we all (Fitbit Community) feel this is a simple change, please modify the units that can be entered and add the ability to LOG using meters/yards/miles/km.  I feel this will satisfy the pool swimmers and the lake (triathlon) swimmers.
