Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

LOL, it's been "in review by moderator" since the watch debuted! The only definitive response from FitBit has been to say they will be updating their manual to remove the wording that states the screen time is adjustable. Most of the people on this thread have returned their Charge 3's @Sammie1966

I know this is already released, but it’s only up to 60 seconds. Can you increase it to 5 minutes, and maybe forever (I know it’s going to drain the battery, but sometimes, I need to see the time when I drive my motorcycle. Just for a few seconds when it’s save to do so). Then when we don’t need it anymore, we can change it back to 10 seconds.

I found one clock face with this options, but I think it is nicer having it as default option.

On the Charge3? How do you get it to 60 seconds? Also- on the interval
timer I can't always feel the vibration even with my watchband tight..

Sorry, I thought this is the Versa. Didn’t notice the label.

Shoot!  I was hoping there was a hidden option for the Charge 3 I was missing.

I’m so sorry. This is my first time wearing Fitbit. And I was trying to write new suggestion. But found that you already suggested it. But I didn’t notice the device label.

Please allow much longer time display on the Charge 3. Even a few seconds more would be a great help! Not  sure I understand why this is a battery issue? My 1970's LCD watch was able to show the time, all the time! Thank you.

Hi @jennifer2882! That’s an interesting idea and could be useful, thanks for sharing it.  I've moved it into a similar suggestion, as the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

Since recent firmware update, you can set awake time from 10 to 60 seconds under Settings.

My mistake.  That's for Versa, not Charge 3.

Option to increase screen display time is critical and basic. For personal preference and convenience as well as for medical personal who may want to use the watch (seconds) to count patient heart rate. This option is very basic and logical, and should be implemented ASAP.  Overall the fitbit change 3 is very good but there few simple things (clock faces another small big issue) which can make it a lot better. Thanks for listening.

Please explain how we might do this? A pic would be good! We’ve only had them a few days, and FitBit Support has told us it can’t be done. Thank you!

@YojanaFitbit, it looks like this is something the community has been asking for upwards of a year.  Unfortunately, mine is going to be returned, as I can’t wait that long for an answer.  I need to be able to take my patients vitals at work, so I need whatever I’m wearing as a watch to function as a watch.  It’s sad, because I love everything else about it.  Unfortunately, this is a major flaw.

It looks like this is something the community has been seeking for some time.  Why has it not yet been addressed?  This is a major flaw.  Please give option to increase the display time - this should be a basic update.  4 secs is far to short....

On Charge 3 from main clock face screen, swipe left until you see 'Settings', and tap that.  In settings, see 'Display Awake'. Tap that to cycle through various times.

My mistake.  That's for Versa, not Charge 3.

I have firmware 1.49.45 (latest, not sute if in other countries other firmware have been rolled out) on my Charge 3  and there is no Display Awake under settings. Fitbit support also confirmed it cannot be done.

Currently display time is like 2s. It would be good to have at least 5s.

Sorry, my mistake.  I was talking about the Versa, not the Charge 3.

No worries, thank you for your help anyway. Wouldn’t be good if this basic/simple function was standard across all platforms?

Ideally would be adding different timings like 2, 5 and 10s. Hopefully Fitbit Devs will add this feature, or at least just 2 of them like 2 and 5s.

The batt may last a bit less, but the user experience will be much better.

YojanaFitBit Moderator-

Thank you for your reply but I really need a better answer as to when they will make an option to see the time and seconds on an optional continual display for my Charge3.  If it isn't soon then I fear I may need to return my FitBit Charge3 as my lowly Ironman TImex does the job for this feature which is very, very important to me.  I see and understand how this is also extremely important in the medical field. It would be good to have for both a clock option with large numbers as well as the stopwatch and timer.  Again, I would turn the display off after I am done to help maintain a longer charge.  I am also willing to charge more often if needed.  Thank you for your reply and hopefully, your future help.

We’re very new to this, but it looks as though folks have been asking the Devs for the same thing for the past 3 years! Fingers crossed though.

Yes, previous ones were the same, you just hope it will happen on the latest one. Promoting about the latest features and missing on the basic ones.

It's a bit like smartphones with more powerful cameras, memory and performance but the speaker is not great when making phone calls

No time out option is a deal breaker. Have had mine 3 days and think its going to be sent back. 2 second timeout makes it unusable.

2-3 second timeout is just ridiculous with no option to change it. Buh by fitbit...
