Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

It would be wonderful if there were a way to adjust the display time for the charge 3. It’s so short right now that a lot of the time I have to tap it a couple times to see and process the information I’m looking for. I don’t know that I would have purchased this product had I know this would be such a hassle.

@DavideFitbit  This is still listed as "Under Consideration" but we've seen posts that say the decision has already been made to not fix this very flawed product.  Why has no moderator commented on the status of our "suggestion"? We haven't had ANY update on it since this was started, just the "That's a good suggestion" comments.  When can we get a status update?

Hi @Caitlin_L_L. Thanks for sharing why you would like to have an option to adjust the screen time on your Charge 3 with us! I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can check this other suggestion here. Keep adding your suggestions!

@LizzyFitbit You tell the new person that this "has been updated as "Under Consideration"."  It's been that way for almost a year now.  When can we get an actual status update? We've Charge 3 owners have been left in the dark.

Hi!

I sent my charge 3 back and got a prompt refund. Thinking of saving up and
getting a Samsung Active Sport2. It will synch better with my phone.

Hi to all

I have had my Charge 3 for about a month now and am generally happy with how it preforms. However, I was checking out online if there was any way I could extend the screen on time, when I came across this thread.

From what I have read, there is no sense in Fitbit reducing the time to 3-4 seconds on time. Why would other models have a different set of settings.

Fitbit have made an otherwise excellent watch very irritating to use. Iwill not be recomending it to others, and if some sort of correcting update doesnt appear soon am likely to stop using it.

That would be sad. Please Fitbit, see sense and sort this out.

More irritating than the time-out is that in a year FITBIT has not officially responded to hundreds and hundreds of complaints.  Not even a definitive statement that they won't or can't fix it.   Message="Glad we have your money,  we don't care."

The statement I got, from the Fitbit representative, is that there is no intention of fixing this. Just that they would consider it for future models.

this site is only made so it keeps the public away from uses **ahem**ing about
all the problems they have, once more if you want them to solve this then
do it out in the open like on there facebook or twitter pages

Changing the display time is a MUST have for me. Not having it is an absolute "no brainer".

Fitbit have replied to me on Twitter which seems to be the best way to get a response, however they still haven't replied to my questions and comments on extending the screen time. They just tell me to put my comments on here, which I told them hundreds already have without them replying.

I don't understand how they can update the software but never do what we are asking,it seems to me they are oblivious to what people are saying because they don't even read what is being said their own community pages.

I want to add my support for a configurable length of time for screen lit for the Charge 3. I am a physician and am board certified in Clinical Informatics. This is an entirely reasonable - and important- request. The only rationale I can think of is that Fitbit is concerned about cannibalizing sales of more advanced models - but instead Fitbit may drive users to competitors. I hope Fitbit will implement this crucial update.

I and countless others have said we will not purchase another fitbit product if they won't fix their errors.  If these were $5 items, I could see not fixing them, but at $149 and they won't fix obvious deficiencies (it was supposed to be included but someone somewhere made the seemed-like-a-good-idea-at-the-time decision to NOT include it) it makes no sense to give Fitbit any more money.  Their competitors are putting out products with the features we are asking for, and sometimes for less money.  But alas, only 1604 people have thought it was a good idea so not enough to make the change, right Fitbit?

Thanks! I welcome a moderator’s response - with a timeline for implementation.

Sadly, you will find very few moderator's responses on here.  They will pm you when they remove one of your posts, or they will show another newbie to this page and say "that's a good idea" but we have yet to have an actual response on whether they are actually doing something about adjusting the screen time.. One of the members did get an email saying that they had already decided NOT to do anything about it, but nothing about it on here.

Well that is very depressing. Hate to admit it, but im not that suprised.
Lets hope they break with habit and actually send us all an upgrade that
solves the problem.

Just got the Charge 3 and yes, would love an option to customize the auto screen time. It often times out before I'm finishing reading everything I want to read. Right now it feels like 3 or 4 seconds. tops. Would love a setting that would allow us to increase this time to 10 seconds or more. Seems this is a popular request and a complaint going on a few years. How has this simple feature not been added yet?

Well, today I saw a news article that Fitbit is looking at two things---charging per month for their service/app and selling to someone.  I guess they will not do a **ahem** thing to fix the 3 second time on the unit.

They already charge for their premium services, but that's just an option.  They made a good product but made bad decisions and have pushed customers away, now they want a bigger company to bail them out. The management team should get $0 in any buyout!

Ability to lengthen the screen time on the Charge 3 is essential. The device is virtually useless without it and incredibly annoying. I would never have bought this had I known of this limitation. It simply doesn't work as a watch or stopwatch with this limitation. It would be so easy to fix this issue and such a shame to ruin an otherwise excellent device.

Why is this still "under consideration" does it REALLY take a year to add a few lines of code?

They are not going to do this update !! Not ever !!

What is the point of this of this facade of a "community" if people just continue on asking for the same **ahem** over and over like hamsters on a wheel?

I guess it's to create an illusion that they're actually doing something??? I've only had my Fitbit for a week or so ....what a crazy-bizarre company this is - just floating around its users requests and questions with copy/paste canned bull**ahem**.

I am not asking for a laser to shoot out of my tracker....just a freakkin' timeout setting SO I CAN READ WHAT'S DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN!!!
