Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

I’m a nurse, i work in a large hospital on the ob floor taking care of new mothers and their babies. Bought the charge 3 because its water proof and i wash my hands a lot. Also wanted to track my steps at work. And use to check patients heart rate and respirations. After see this blog goes back to 2018, It’s not looking like i’ll be using it for that anytime in the near future. I’m not wearing this and a normal watch to work. Not really any sense in having a fitness tracker i can’t use at work were I'm walking almost the whole time I'm there. So, even tho,  i just got this “watch” a day ago seriously thinking about returning it. Just wish we could double tap and get the clock face to stay on for a set amount of time. Too bad, having the medical profession wearing you fitness tracker to get healthier would be great advertisement for you all.

PLEASE fix the display time and make it longer. Otherwise you've created an almost useless fitbit.

Don't understand why the Charge 3 does not have an adjustable time for the display screen. You are basically cutting out an entire group of handicapped people, the visually impaired, from being able to use this product. That's just sad.

I discovered that if you rest your finger tip on the clock face it holds the display time longer. I've owned the Charge 3 less than 24 houis. I noticed that the display time is way too short which brought me to this forum.  Will give it a few more days before considering a return.

Return it while you can. I couldn't return mine but elected to go buy a different brand today. I could have bought the Ionic as it has the longer screen time as an option but as Fitbit have had long enough to fix this and haven't even said they will, they lost my business for ever today.

The Charge 3 time out does not work for myself and wife. We are older and find it hard to read when it goes out so quickly. We have both been through the Alta, Alta hr, Charge 2 and now the Charge 3. The other time outs were fine but the Charge 3 is not. Very disappointed.

Agree with the comments here, this needs to be longer. I'm a veterinary nurse and therefore counting pulses/resps is second nature. It would be great if the screen time could be anywhere up to 15 seconds for me, but to have this option be flexible for the benefit of others just makes sense!

Just had a post removed where I suggested an idea that might get Fitbit to actually pay attention to us and give us an actual response.  Here is the response I received:

I wanted to let you know that I've removed one of your recent posts, quoted below, as we don't allow discussion of legal action against Fitbit on the Community forums. We ask that you refrain from posting in this manner.

So they are watching, they just choose to not respond to our numerous (1334 at present count) suggestions that they put the feature on our devices that the manual said was included when they launched the device or at the very least tell us they are not going to.

snowens:   You say that like someone here will hear you and do something about it.  Fitbit has been completely mum except to tell us that adding the ability to change the screen time is a good idea.  I wonder if a there is anything that would get their attention and get a response.  This feature was included in the manual at first and was supposed to be on our products.  No reason was ever given as to why it's not there. We haven't even gotten something as simple as that from them, let alone on a comment on if it will ever be added.  Notice I said if not when.

That happend to me to , even two times !
I then asked why they could find the time to read en delete my message but not the time to respond in a propper manor to all the complains ! This proves that fit bit does not care !!
They just want to keep on selling a useless watch and they are not going to fix the problems !!

I am a medical student and think that this feature is essential. It makes taking a pulse rate quite difficult with the quick timeout

At this point if they don’t fix these obvious issues or address the issue that 18 hour Apple Watch battery life seems to get more reasonable every day.

A longer screentime option would be a very welcome addition.

I think that this screen time out option is very reasonable feature. 3-4 seconds is too short to see the information in the watch face. If those information is not supposed to see, why fitbit still wastes so much time and resources to design the clock faces?

This post has been there over 6 months, however, no response is from fitbit and no update to add this option. What’s going on?

Disappointed.

EVERYONE with this complaint about the hr timeout on the Charge 3 should write to the bbb.  The better business bureau has online complaint submission forms and DOES GET RESULTS.

A longer screen time isn't an option it is essential if this device is going to be useful.  With so many posting their disappointment why hasn't it been fixed surely its that not that difficult.

They feel no obligation.   You know-how public sentiment on the company-good, stock price-good. Why bother with complaining customers.

When will the charge 3 have the option to increase screen time timeout?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Very sorry but think it will happen in this live
It will be in a new watch , and the C3 wil stay useles!
My 5yo daughter asked why I had a new watch today. I explained to her about the screen timeout problem. And her response "that's silly, why don't they fix it". When a 5yo understands better than a big company its time to wave that company goodbye. See you Fitbit - never again!

Can I ask which brand you went with if the new watch is a fitness tracker? I have given up on my C3 but I am cautious to spend more money and be disappointed again. Definitely won’t be a Fitbit for me.

Thanks
