Longer Screen Time for Charge Trackers

I purchased my charge 3 after seeing it would have a Screen Time out Option.  It shipped without one.  Moderator Kate says it’s not available at this time.  The manual is now being changed to reflect that.

I really, really want/need that option.  It was the reason I chose the Charge.  That and my 50’s year old eyes.  The current screen only stays on for 3-4 seconds.  That is a very short amount of time.  I have to repeated tap the screen to read a text that comes in.  IF we are going to have the ability to get notifications, we need the ability to read them.

Please Fitbit, give us the option that was originally in the manual to change the screen time out.  The Versa has it, so I know it can be done.

Yes, please give users adjustable screen timeout. Timeout is much too short.

I went with an iWatch Series 3. The cost has come down now the series 4 iWatch is out but it is more expensive than the Charge 3 and has no battery life (I charge it each night) so it isn't perfect. But tap the screen and you get 1 min of screen time, and it is so much brighter than the charge 3. I enjoyed the sleep monitoring on Charge 3 but the iWatch works so well with either its own exercise app or syncing with the Nike Run Club and Nike Training Club apps that I am happy I changed.

I have already posted how bad the Charge 3 is for my wife and I. We can not read it in the time allowed. We will not buy another fitbit again if the problem is not fixed. How long this has gone on shows how little fitbit cares. I am getting email for sales on the Charge 3. Ha.

Monique,

I have not bought a new one, but was looking at the Garmin Forerunner 235.
Not sure if I will pull the trigger since the C3 was such a waste.

Just bought the Charge 3. This is my 3rd. First thing I noticed the dang screen shuts off in a blink of an eye. Geez.

Your third Charge 3?  Are you a glutton for punishment? Or your third fitbit fitness tracker? I just had to get mine replaced under warranty because the screen developed the white stripe syndrome. They said I would get a choice of a new Charge 3 or 50% off a different tracker, but that choice never appeared.  So now I get a new one that, as you put it, shuts off in the blink of an eye!  For postings on here and in emails I've written, I've never even gotten so much as a form letter response from them. They are ignoring us.  They already have our money.

Third FitBit. Saw that after I submitted the post but you cannot edit after you submit.

The screen timeout display time is way too short, only 3 seconds for the wrist movement and maybe 6 seconds when you push the button, still a little to short - 8 to 10 seconds would be much better.

Had a C 2 before , had a big crack in the screen , happens often , seen here , and bought the c3 , normaly when you go up on numbers you go up on the device ! Not true for fit bit , C 3 is useles ! Never again a fitbit , going for garmin next time. Fit bit is not responding at all ! This feature is already here for more then 7 months!

Longer Screen Time for Charge 3

This is very disappointing. I had fit bit now for years. Was looking at Samsung and other smart watches, but I just wanted a nice looking tracker.

I agree with you 7 months and not listening to customers. I bet they are phasing C3 out and don't want to bother.

Attached is a screen shot from Twitter support (today). Basically SSDD.

Garak:  You can edit by clicking the dropdown near the time (3 hours ago), the 3 little dots, but no one will know you did the edit.

Garak: Their response says "We don't have any insight as to when it will be considered"?!?!?!?  They've been saying for months that it IS under consideration!

Yes,  yes,  and yes.  This is a global company that does it by the numbers only.

I agree: The screen time out setting is A MUST HAVE OPTION .The current default time is too short . IT doesn’t  help if I have to keep a finger on the Clock.

And why is it not possible to make your own clock face  like on Versa. (Off topic)

This is off topic, but my fitbit charge 3 just stopped showing the display when I turn my wrist.  For the life of me, I cannot find or remember where the setting is to turn it back on.

@Garyk10 try to hold the side button and you should see screen wake.

Hope that helps.
