Make migration to Google an optional process

Chatting with support, someone told me eventually all users will be "forced" to link their FitBit with google account.
If there is an issue with the account this means you have to change the whole google account (ie password) to accomodate FitBit, which is what happened to my account

I bought a Charge 6 because my 4 died and I realized when it was too late that I had to move all of my info over to a Google Acct or just not use Fitbit anymore. I had to move all of my info over to a gmail account that i dont use and have NEVER checked. This means I'll no longer receive any emails from Fitbit ever again.

Nope... not doing it, finally said Goodbye. Got another product and haven't looked back. Anything Gmail and Google related especially when you have multiple accounts - can't keep itself straight... and by far the most annoying thing is Google constantly asking you to sign in... nope - not anymore. See ya Fitbit and google. Found a new device - It was way worth the move.

I have used a Google workspace account for more than a decade.  I have been a Fitbit user for longer than that.  I will NOT migrate my home domain to @Gmail.com - no way, no how.  There are way, way too many places that my email address is linked to.  If Fitbit stops supporting Fitbit accounts in 2025 and won't allow me to use my Workspace account, I'll shop for a Fitbit replacement and Fitbit will lose me as a customer.

Google is life it is how it is. Fitbit is a part of Google now.

It should be possible to use Fitbit without a Google account.

It used to be working fine, but Google has removed the export option, and the Takeout is broken (sleep stages are not included).
I've signalled this many times, to no avail.

Also, Google forces the users to have Youtube Music instead of Spotify. This is the same as Microsoft forcing the use of Internet Explorer, which was illegal in the EU.

It's really worrisome. A big company should act responsibly. We're handing over our health data, so we need to be able to trust the company.

Google's managing of its acquisition of FitBit is arguably the greatest marketing boon the Apple Watch has ever seen.  Over the past 6 years, I have purchased 5 FitBit smart watches and the scale and have been a FitBit Premium subscriber the whole time.  I just tried to purchase a FitBit Versa 4 to replace my Versa 2, and google rejected my purchase because my Google Pay account has been suspended!  I don't even have a Google Pay account.  I do have an Apple Pay account.  Looks like I will be buying my first Apple Watch.  Really bummed about it the short battery life, but there is on way I will ever buy from Google again.

Just read too that Google is forcing all Fitbit users to migrate their accounts to Google Pay and it is shutting down the FitBit App.   Google paid $2.1 Billion to buy Fitbit, and now wants to shutter Fitbit to promote its totally lame Google Pixel watch. Great corporate management.  See you all at the Apple Store.

I'm like a lot of long time users of Fitbit, the change from Fitbit to Google has been a big disappointment.  I can not longer challenge my friends and they can no longer see my weekly results.  My wife still use the old Fitbit app and stated she would go to Apple Watch if she had to go to the Google app.

I have been a Fitbit for more than 12 years and can no longer see the many awards I had racked up...

I do not want another email.   My Google email is attached to an old job and not available for me to use. This is a nightmare.  Do I have to create a new Gmail account?

I’ve just added an Apple Watch to my Christmas list since it appears that Fitbit going to be no longer supported by Google.

You ruined a great product.

I do not want to have my FITBIT notifications to go to gmail. I want notifications to go to non- google email which is my main email provider.

I set up Fitbit with non-google email and that is where I want notifications to go. I do not want to be forced to use Gmail.

I will not move to Google mail just to keep using your watch - it not that remarkable or unique a product that other smart watches can't work for me. In fact, Apple watch may work better. Neither is my historical data so important to for me to keep using your product. Are you trying to lose customers??? 'Cuz I think it is working.

Do not move your Fitbit account to Google. I just did and now can't export my data in a useful format. The mobile app already doesn't work with my device. Had no idea Google was so bad at . . . everything? Just awful.

Several days ago I was finally able to get my Fitbit account moved to google. The problem now is none of my information came with the move and when trying to move I was constantly told that an account already exists with my google email address. I don't remember creating an account with my gmail account. How can I get my information moved along with my Fitbit account?

We got an email saying that if we didn't transfer to Google we would lose all of our information, this includes years of Fitbit information.  Now we get an email saying oops, Google sent that in error.  That is absolutely fraudulent, and unethical of Google.   It really makes us want to get rid of our fitbits.  I wish there was some place that we could report this activity by Google, because they are fraudulently getting us to give them access to information that has to do with our health.  This should be illegal.  Needless to say we are incredibly unhappy and dissatisfied.

Just signed in for the first time ever to join the folks who will be opting out of the migration. Will not be using Fitbit app or products any longer due to the forced migration. Bye!
