Make "Meditation" a separate category from exercise

When you complete an exercise the app asks if you want to mark it as a completed exercise. I think meditation should be tracked a separate item and should not count towards your exercise goal. If there was a separate meditation weekly goal that would be awesome and then you go track your mediations there.

@YojanaFitbit Looks like fitbit incorporated my idea into the app which is great! Thanks for doing that.

I love the new mindfulness feature and the ability to log meditations in the app, but I don't want them to be counted as exercise. I'd like the option to NOT log them in the exercise section and only have them count towards my mindfulness goal.

I like the idea of the new Mindfulness tile and being able to set a goal of having a specified number of days per week where I practice mindfulness/meditation. But do not count it as activity under "Exercise".

Yes, please remove meditation from exercise. A 40 minute nightly sleep story will dramatically skew the exercise stats. Not good.

The new meditation tile is great, but meditation is being logged there AND under exercise.

I love that there is now a mindfulness tile however I also agree that I do NOT want my mindfulness activities to count toward exercise.
Listening to meditation music to fall asleep is in no way exercise but it logs as 40 minutes of exercise and therefore my data of actual physical exercise is wrong and being someone who has been not very active and I’m issuing the app to show how far I’ve come, having the mindfulness activities count toward that really throws everything off.

They should be tracked separately as they are different. I'm just starting to get back into exercising and I was horrified to learn that my 2-minute breathing exercise was counted as one of my 3 days of physical exercise. Not helpful.

Yes please stop meditation being logged as an exercise. I won’t log any mediations while this feature is enabled as it just messes up my exercise data. I like the meditations and it’s good to be able to log them but not as part of exercise.
thank you

Agreed. They shouldn't be linked.

I completely agree with this suggestion.  Mindfulness is NOT exercise and this is corrupting my exercise data.  These features need to be separated.  I should not have to manually manage this data to keep it accurate.

I want to have the option to log my mindfulness sessions only in the mindfulness log rather than being required to log it as an exercise as well.

Mindfulness (Lower heart rates) is not exercise and it gives credit for exercise (higher heart rates).

Seems like this is a pretty popular item. I'm looking forward to seeing the change.

I agree. Please keep mindfulness and exercise logging separate.

Completely agree. The mindfulness tracking should be in the same place where you find the mindfulness sessions. It doesnt make sense that its logged as excercise.

Add an option for not counting meditation as a workout

@LizzyFitbit So. Much. This. It makes absolutely no sense to count meditation as exercise, not only because it's already being logged/counted under "Mindfulness for the week, but because it straight up is not exercise. It also totally messes up my exercise goals. I won't be using Mindfulness again until this is fixed. 😕

I am in agreement that Exercise and Meditation should be separated. Please make this update for the Community as soon as possible so it does not continue to interfere with our Exercise goals!

For those who wish to combine them, maybe add an option. But seems like most of us agree they should be completely separate.

Thanks!

Mindfulness and Exercise need to be calculated separately. It does not make sense to have one count for the other, especially if the exercise is to be calculated for a 30 minute session, but a 2 minute meditation accounts for it.

I completely agree with all previous posts. Meditation and Exercise are both important and not at all the same. Meditation should not count as exercise. I will not be using the FitBit meditations until this is fixed. I'm currently using the 6 months of free Premium content (Sense purchase) and will not be paying for it at the end of the 6 months if this isn't fixed. I currently pay for a meditation app and was hoping to stop paying that so I could pay for FitBit premium, but if I can't usefully use the meditation section, I'm not paying for Premium.

I agree with the other posts. Meditation should not be logged as exercise. This feature is stressing us out which is a fail on your part, given the nature of the feature.
Reduce our stress by telling us when this will be fixed not that you are looking at it.

Cheers.
