Make sleep score optional

Suggested idea is to have the sleep score optional !

We should be able to choose if we have the score or not , I hate feeling like I failed my sleep!

I actually got a email directly from Fitbit about the sleep score issue(in which they asked my to change my review). How did I achieve this goal? Easy give them a 1 star in the app store. So if you want them to listen do the same 1 star.Sent from my Samsung Galaxy smartphone.

@jrhardman "Sleep Score is clearly an underhanded way for Fitbit to get you to upgrade to the paid subscription version of their app. By creating an arbitrary number and providing vague data for how that number is reached, they are trying to entice users into subscribing to their service to get that information. It’s a dirty trick, and I hope people don’t fall for it. Sleep Score makes me want to delete this app all together. I may remove the sleep tracker function from my dashboard because of this. Fitbit should change it back, and do a better job of advertising paid features instead of trying to trick you into paying for something you don’t want. "

I said much the same earlier in the thread but I feel you did I much better job articulating the point.

The real kicker part is, I did the 7 day free trial' to peek under the hood of the score and not was the underlying data not valuable nor actionable that user interface to get to it is absolute garbage

I agree!
I also take the watch off at night. Sleeping peacefully!
In addition, we need to find an alternative watch when we purchase our next watch.
Wishing you well!

@MarcustheRabbit serious they asked you to change your review ? Wow. The nerve.

I found my old Fitbit Flex and am charging it up in case I decide to temporarily ditch my Charge  The reason I bought the Charge was to track my heart rate but I'm really disappointed in this rollout. I have been a good customer for 7 years. I have given several people Fitbits as gifts and always had good things to say. At this point, I would never consider giving anyone a Fitbit.

Guys, echoing what someone said earlier.  If you want something to change, write an app review.  Specifically mention this issue.  This is likely what matters to the developers and where you will be heard most widely, not in this forum.

I absolutely agree with everyone here. The sleep score feature is completely useless! Based on everyone's reaction to it, I hope Fitbit gets rid of it all together.

Words cannot convey how useless I find this.

@MarcustheRabbit - I have also placed my one star review, I had not thought of doing this, it’s only fair, for those considering purchasing a Fitbit to understand how disappointed the current owners are. Thank you.

Add me to the growing number of dislikes for this arbitrary and ineffective ‘ranking’.

Restore the previous average hours sleep, which is more meaningful.

@MarkInCentralTx  I use the now meaningless product on an android system and apple. Make sure to one star then in the  App store and Play Store. More low ratings at the point of app installation will perhaps cause folks to think before buying or return the product to the seller.

Have added a comment and 1 star to the play store.

Hoping it helps.......

Agreed. Sleep score is straight up discouraging, and useless. Please put things back or make it optional. As it is, I don't want to use my Fitbit anymore, too annoying and discouraging to wear it and then use the app. Sleep score and premium lock out is just cluttering and discouraging and useless.

Yeah, leaving a low rating on play gets their attention.

They got back to me directly...

Hasn't helped though. Use an earlier version of the app until they sort themselves out

Well: I submitted a 1-star review to the Apple app store.

What pushed me over the edge was reading a "developer response"  that said we were getting "better insight" into our sleep from the score.

NO, WE AREN'T. And the breadth of comments on this thread, showing how people in a really wide variety of bad sleep situations had been using the previous directly comprehensible data to support their efforts, but then FELT JUDGED AND DEPRESSED getting a "fair" or worse sleep score every day... wow.

It's like the people who designed and implemented this change are... all young and healthy tech bros who lifehack and have been told to optimize on revenue, not service to customers?

Sunday Sleep: 8h10m Score 83

Monday Sleep: 8h35m Score 55

Reason: that'll cost you extra $ to find out it is arbitrary BS based on faulty science.

Hi @SunsetRunner, thanks for explaining why you would like to stop seeing this option on the Fitbit app. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". You can learn more about here. Keep adding your suggestions!

I’m going to suggest making the “sleep score” go away all together. Bring back hours and minutes only. I have no need for a subjective sleep score that’s not very accurate. Hours and minutes for weekly averages was great. Hours and minutes are also considered a universal measurement of time and are the most useful. After reading comments, I don’t believe a sleep score would even be needed at all. Thank you

I also changed my play store rating to 1 star

Sleep hours is far more accurate than some arbitrary 'sleep score'.   I do not care about a sleep score, I do care about hours of sleep.

@dahjester wow. I almost always get less sleep than you and have never seen scores that low.

The only additional "insight" that premium gives you is the amount of time your sleeping heart rate is below your daily resting heart rate. Something that none of us have any control over. And for some people is probably very anxiety inducing.

I agree with doing away with a sleep score.  It's useless.  I want to be able to see my average hours/minutes of sleep each week, not a score.
