It is quite apparent from the comments made by the moderators that Fitbit has no intention on fixing their mistake. Can anyone give me a good replacement for Fitbit? I don't do Apple, so not the Apple watch. I already have the Galaxy Gear 3 watch and they just simply aren't "ready". I was going to be upgrading from the Charge 2 to the 3 in December, but it looks like Fitbit is not going to be my choice now. I won't stay with a company that doesn't even have the common courtesy to actually respond to their customers instead of giving "canned robotic pre-scripted nonsense". Hi @pghinred! Great suggestion, thanks for sharing your feedback. I've moved it into a similar request. You can also check this other suggestion, post a comment or click on the thumbs-up to show your support.
The sleep score has zero value for me. I much preferred the average hours over the week info which was real data. I used that info over time to track what was happening in my life that improved or diminished my sleep. The sleep score does not add any value at all.
Hi @hievery1, thanks for explaining why you don't want to have this option on the Fitbit app. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has a lot of votes. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.
This has been my only complaint with the new upgrade. I work with a coach, and tracking sleep is very important. It's something we review weekly, so being able to send him a snap shot of my weekly sleep average was very helpful. He is not a Fitbit user, so the sleep score is useless to him. I like seeing the score, I just wish we could toggle between the two.
I agree. I wrote to Fitbit customer support and they said it’s not optional. I don’t really see the point of being graded on sleep and think it could be psychologically damaging for people who aren’t getting a good score.
I also agree with the comments above. I prefer data-based information, not a subjective number score (based on what science?) For people who are troubled with insomnia this score is not just unwanted, but creates more more anxiety about sleeping.
To highlight just how insane the ‘sleep score’ is: 2 nights ago I got 6.5hrs sleep, 15% of which was deep (which I never normally manage) and I got a lower score (79) than I got last night when I slept 5.5 hrs and got 12% deep sleep (80)!! But when for the first time in months I actually achieved my aim of 8hrs + a good breakdown of deep, light and REM I still only managed a 90!!! My usual scores are so low i’m now stressing about how bad it is.
Seriously, not only does this make me feel rubbish about my pitiful sleep habits - the so called ‘scores’ don’t make any sense. Whoever created this algorithm needs firing.
Honestly it’s just ridiculous. Way to go with the ‘sleep shaming’ and confusing results Fitbit!
Please give us the option to switch between sleep score and average hours slept. I'm really upset that it just automatically changed to sleep score when it's completely useless to me. Even more useless as I have a Flex 2 which doesn't have the full sleep tracking capability so my sleep score is ALWAYS zero. What's the point of it even being there? My average hours slept was taken away to show me a sleep score of zero for each week?
The changing of the title of this thread is an indication of how things are not being understood. Further, it keeps hiding the topic which makes it difficult to find. It is pretty clear that throughout the whole new app fiasco and the roll-out of the sleep score that Fitbit does not have a public relations department. That alone is adding to the frustration and some anger toward Fitbit. When so many users comment and hear nothing back just gives a very callous and unprofessional feel.
Get rid of the sleep score. As someone that has attended a sleep clinic several times I know for myself this information incorrect, very much in fact. Sleep can not be given a scientifically proven “number” based on the information my Fitbit collects. Please stop exasperating other health issues such as insomnia, anxiety, depression, etc with this blatant money grab. It is obvious that Fitbit is aware of the distress this “upgrade” has caused many of its customers and I’m quite surprised no one has sued fitbit for knowingly aggravating their preexisting anxiety disorder or other health issues pertaining to the stress this sleep score is causing. This is Fitbit’s mission statement:
“To empower and inspire you to live a healthier, more active life. We design products and experiences that fit seamlessly into your life so you can achieve your health and fitness goals, whatever they may be”.
The sleep score does not fit with your mission statement, in fact, it has done exactly opposite for a lot of people. SHAME ON YOU FITBIT, put your customers and their health first as you state in YOUR mission statement, not your investors.
I am embarrassed for you that you have become “that” kind of business. 😢.
Why does fitbit want to stress me out over a score that's always low to middling and for which there is NO context whatsoever?
This is the opposite of what a fitness tracker should be doing...Trackers should help us improve our health with real, actionable data...not simply telling us in that we are awful sleepers and there's nothing you can do about it.
Honestly I have a hard time understanding how this even came about.
I agree, please turn off the "sleep score". I have been a FitBit user for years (starting way back with the little clip-on FitBit One), but I absolutely hate (hate, hate) this sleep score so much I am ready to toss my current FitBit in a drawer and move on to something better. I'll have to ask my son about his Apple Watch, hopefully it doesn't generate bogus "sleep scores" that a person cannot opt out of.
A lot of people feel this way but FitBit is not going to change it because they are using it to force people to pay for a Premium Subscription. You have to pay $10/month for a more detailed explanation about the score but even then, the information isn’t helpful in my opinion. If they were smart, they’d make the Sleep Score optional and then the people who want to pay for a subscription could opt in. But I doubt many people would find it of value so sadly I think we’re going to be stuck with this until we switch to other devices.
