Medical ID Wristbands/ICE (In Case of Emergency)

It would be a great idea to add the medical alert logo to the flex band in case of a medical emergency. Older adults today are living longer, more active lives than the generations before them. The medical alert symbol and information can be incorporated into a stylish watch or a bangle-type bracelet, among many other options.

Medical IDs give paramedics and health care providers a quick look at your medical history in an emergency. They usually include information about medical conditions, food or drug allergies, medical devices (such as a pacemaker), and medications. This data can also be in sync with your Smartphone.

I like the idea of either a clock face and the app. Also, the medical alert symbol would alert emergency responders that the person has a medical condition.

Great idea!

I think that making the bands clearly marked for each condition would be a good first step. In time, I think that using the screens to also indicate additional information, medical needs, or anything that might be pertinent to the individual could also be added.  I am pleased to see how many people have responded to this post, I get a skin reaction from most medical alert bracelets, but love my Fitbit. If Fitbit would be willing to make these additional options available to us, I would be forever grateful.

I sent this idea long ago but here it is again. For the Alta.IMG_2356.JPGIMG_2358.JPGIMG_2357.JPG

It would be really awesome if the FitBit bands could be ordered printed with medical alerts. As a teacher, I see many students with fish, nut, and other allergies. I have diabetics, students with serious heart conditions, and frankly aging parents who wear Fitbits and medical alert bracelets. If the band for the fitbit could be preordered to note an allergy, medics could immediately see what the issue is, as an educator, I am forewarned. And most important, the wearer doesn't have to share the issue out loud.

Yes Road ID has been making these for many different trackers.

I would love fitbit to get together with https://www.myidsquare.com/ and create some bands with the Universal Medical ID Symbol and a Squid QR code.

The QR codes work like this https://www.myidsquare.com/pages/how-squids-work-in-an-emergency

and store this sort of information https://www.myidsquare.com/pages/view-sample-medical-profile

Option for Medical ID /ICE (In Case of Emergency) feature or app that is accessible to first responders directly on the watch face (maybe with special swipe or something). Possibly display a 2d barcode that when scanned allows first responders to access medical history from the cloud.

That’s an interesting idea and could be useful, thanks for sharing this suggestion @Astrotech.

I was looking in the app store yesterday, and it seems someone has developed an app for the Ionic that does this. I haven' tried it, but you can check it out under Health. The name of the app is "911 ID".

Astrotech
Recovery Runner

yes already use it. Very nice app, but Fitbit needs a special mode native so apps like 911 ID can be accessible universally by first responders even when Fitbit is locked. Maybe even show last 30 mins of heart rate. Prob with 3rd party apps is you need to go looking for it, assuming it is installed and Fitbit isn't locked.

OK, I understand. Vote added.

Thanks @kmessinger for the photos and insight as an EMT. @Rich_Laue thanks for sharing that third party that seems to do ID tags for wearables.

Sounds like the most popular options would be for:

  1. Some kind of physical flag on the wrist band (which might alert medical professionals to check you for other medical info wearables or possibly to check your Fitbit for more info)
  2. A clock face with medical info or a barcode which could be scanned with a phone and bring up medical histories.

I'll discuss this with the development team here and get back to you all! Please feel free to continue commenting.

Thanks @Astrotech - I've moved your request here to this long standing request for a medical ID and added the Ionic/Versa labels. Thanks!

Hi @Janas and commenters, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We’re excited to let you know that this Feature Suggestion has been developed by a third party developer, and can be downloaded from the Fitbit App Gallery available on Fitbit Smartwatches. You’ll find it by selecting your connected Smartwatch (such as Versa, Versa 2, Versa 3 and Versa Lite) in the Fitbit app, then choosing the ‘Apps’ tile and toggling to ‘All Apps’ at the top of the screen. The app are called "Medical Data", "Better Alerts", "MED ID" and "MED ID 5.0". You can then explore third party apps by category and choose your favorite of the relevant options available. Happy exploring!

Please note that if you have feedback or a suggestion for the third party app, you can contact the developer directly (if they have shared their contact details publicly). Open their app in the Fitbit App Gallery and you’ll find their contact details under ‘app details’ or ‘clock face details’. Thanks.

That’s great for people who have smart watches. How about just “normal” Fitbits?

@SisDS take a look at Road ID which has been offering I'D clips for Fitbit since the Charge was released.

The idea of it having medical information similar to medical bracelet would be helpful.  I have so much medical history that it would be nice that the feature would be helpful on my fit bit.

So bassically I'm Type 1 diabetic have been since i was 7 (Now 19).  I have Fitbit blaze as i like to cycle a  lot. I've personally think that fitbit should have a strap that lets you to put ID and Medical conditions and allergies on as i used to have a medical alert bracelet but found them too odd looking or a pain wearing two things.

So what do u guys think?

This has been a request for many years. So far no real solution.

Wish my fitbit charge 2 could be used as a medical alert bracelet also. I have epilepsy and I would love to be able to put this as a medical alert also

@Rich_Laue .  true but it's in Road ID is in dollars so i assume it's only accesible to Dollar currency and not people who use pounds or euros.

Normally the checkout process does the conversion.

I have a FitBit Charge2, and am planning for a Versa: neither have bands that are customizable for a Medic Alert symbol. I take Coumadin/Warfarin and must wear a medic alert bracelet. It would be nice if there were a medic alert band; or, a slide on token that would indicate I carry a Medic Alert card identifying my medications in case of emergency.

Thanks!
