Restore the ability of users to control audio playback from their smartphone through music controls on the Sense 2/Versa 4. This is a basic feature on previous models that has been removed.
Hello, I used to own a Fitbit Versa 3 with would do music play back like skipping, playing and pausing tracks but unfortunately it broke so I decided to upgrade to the Versa 4 to my surprise it didn’t have this feature.
I didn't check first that the Sense 2 had music controls because I honestly would have never thought that it might not! As silly as it might sound, this was one of the main reasons I bought a more smartwatch-style tracker. To control my music without needing my phone whilst I run! Even my years-old Xiaomi band had music controls! What an absolute waste of money.
I can't understand why this wouldn't be a feature of a $300 wearable device. Ridiculous.

After being a customer for many years, dating back to the Fitbit zip, I have finally given up. The degraded features of the sense 2 is the last straw. I have gone over to Garmin. The device was more expensive but has no recurring annual subscription fees and it can make phone calls which the Sense 2 cannot. Leaving out music controls and 3rd party apps is beyond understanding.
Controlling music was one of the primary things I thought of doing with a smartwatch I would not have expected such a Basic feature missing from a smartwatch to be honest.
I was looking forward to controlling music through my watch and when I was exploring the features, I was really disappointed seeing that there's no way I can do that. After paying over $200, I expect to at least control my music through the watch. This is honestly disappointing and embarrassing for a smart watch.

This has close to 1000 votes, please take this back to the Dev team and find a way to control music through the watch. Customers are obviously choosing other products based on this one small feature. You target audience are people that exercise but this isn't user friendly for that demographic. Throw some corporate dollars at a project and please work on an update.
Close to 1000 votes and after 2 years this still hasn't been worked on. Nothing disappoints me more. Never buying any smartwatch associated with Google ever again.
I feel like I just wasted £219 on a smart watch expecting to have basic music controls for Spotify. I thought I was upgrading from my Samsung Gear s3 but doesn't really look like it. This is 2024! I bought my Samsung 8 years ago lol. When will we know if the devs will integrate spotify controls or not? This debate looks like its been going on for a while now. Is there no way to side load controls?
So frustrating that this essential and basic feature has been left off all new models. seems ridiculous to have to roll back to obsolete models to get better features. not good enough, Fitbit!
Agreed. Almost 1,000 votes and music control features haven’t been developed! I just got my versa and overlooked the music controls. I was assuming it was just 3rd party apps such as Spotify and music storage that weren’t supported.
I’ll be trying to return my Fitbit as I regularly pause my music while at the gym to talk to somebody. Having to find my phone or take out my earbuds is an annoying thing to do in 2024. Thanks for creating a worse product, Fitbit.
I have always been a Fitbit user. I promoted it and could give a commercial why I love my Fitbit(s) devices. One of the main features I always enjoyed as an avid fitness instructor is the Music Controls. It made my classes so much easier to teach and control, when it came to shuffling songs, skipping or restarting a song over. I was so shocked that this feature was removed, especially without warning that it would no longer be available. Bring music control back! There are people out here who enjoyed it; it is the small things that matter to some. Music control is a feature why I have been with Fitbit over the years. I do not want to change to other smart watches, but I have no other choice.
I just bought a Sense 2 and was shocked to see there's no media controls - every single watch I've owned over the past decade has had it but not Fitbit?
A quick google led me here and and I can't help but notice that it's been over a year and a half of people asking and voting on this but still nothing? how has this still not been implemented ? I imagine the code for the app is already largely (if not wholly) built so surely it's a straightforward and simple process to make at least 961 customers happy
I've just bought a sense 2 as my sense stopped working. I didn't even check music controls on the sense 2 as i wrongly assumed the sense 2 would still have the same features as its predecessor. Music control was a big part of my use. Please add it to the sense 2.
Don't count on Google's ownership of Fitbit to fix this. They have ignored this lack of music control for quite some time. I would recommend (as I did) to buy another Fitbit Sense 1 - if one is available.

I couldn’t agree more and it’s honestly pushing me to leave FitBit. I was forced to move from the versa 3 to 4 bc the 3 took a crap.
So how is this an upgraded device? How do you build a new product, removing key features you had in your older model, stop selling said model and think your customers would be happy? Who in their product team made this call?
This is absurd and they will be losing someone that has purchased minimum 5 Fitbit devices so far and will obviously have plenty more purchases in my future. Also, trying to get to some sort of support is beyond a nightmare (I’m pretty sure you’re just some random person that is helping). It’s almost like they knowingly left this out of their model manuals, help centers, and feature specs to trick their customers into spending $200 on a watch with same functionality as a $10 one. Whoever is in leadership positions here… well they should be fired.
As an exercise watch, you would think you would think through your users experience. What would make you think that anyone would want to have to pull out their phones to change a song or turn volume up or down as they are working out? It seriously doesn't even make any logically sense. I'm still beyond baffled by the serious miss your product team did here.
