To remove this is a real bummer. This was one of the best feature ever for a watch. I hope there are sufficient number of votes to put it back. I assume that there are many who have cancelled their orders or decided not to purchase the Versa 3 or Sense due to this.
I only upgraded to the Versa 3 because I thought you could add your own music. The watch is expensive as it is and not everyone can afford to pay for subscriptions to music services.
Well I've had my Sense for a couple of months now, really thought they would have brought back the music... Talk about disappointing. The ability to download music would have made a good watch great. Bring back music!!
it would be really helpful if a serious YouTube channel investigated this and publicised it.
11 pages of comments and it is obvious there is an agenda behind Fitbit's complete lack of a significant response or an explanation. it's an existing feature fully supported in earlier models and there is NO technical reason for it to be excluded. in fact there is no reason at all. none that Fitbit would provide either. other than good old corporate greed for which customers are paying the price!
@MusicFan88 I agree. Plus I have a feeling that the ability to store offline music (because that's what Deezer/Pandora does with the premium subscription) means that the facility is there. But to tie it down to a subscription service goes against the kind of 'cartel' influence that Microsoft has been accused of in the past. I wonder if that has been thought of?
Ridiculous move, removing a feature that the previous gen had.
So far, assuming that all 501 people who up-voted this thread ended up returning this device, Fibit lost 115.230€ on sales.
"Guys our figures haven't been great lately. Any ideas on how to increase revenue?"
"Uuhh yeah dude totally, just make them pay for subscription services on the newer devices. Then we can make a deal to get a percentage of the profit. It's totally cool dw"
And let's not even start on having to pay for Fitbit Premium to access sleeping heart rate and Spo2, cause that's off-topic.
It's just sad how desperate for money Fitbit is, as a consequence of its own poor decisions, due to being desperate for money, as a consequence of its own poor decisions, due to being desperate for money, as a consequence of its own poor decisions...
I've been tweeting Fitbit and Support team for last month. Basically answer the question clearly, why it was removed or reinstate it to its previous. Downloadable Spotify options should never have been removed. Please if you are adamant about this, get on twitter & @Fitbit and Fitbit Support. They need to wake up, they need to respond, they need to stop neglecting their loyal customers.
to add insult to injury, it's not even possible to put your own music via Deezer onto the watch. Deezer won't let you sync a personal playlist. I know, tested this myself before returning the watch.
I'll add my vote for putting personal music on Versa 3. Sometimes I want to disconnect from everything and just walk with my earbuds and watch...no subscription should be needed for me to do that.
I agree. This is the #1 feature I would expect to have on a "smart watch" product. I would like to be able to store my own mp3/mp4 files, otherwise I might as well just go with a simpler fitness tracker that costs less.
I was looking at upgrading my Fitbit to versa 3 however, I am really reconsidering this. I thought offline GPS was great for my runs so I can take less items with me but knowing I can not listen to my spotify offline is disappointing when know this can be done on other products.
As a long-time Fitbit user I was looking forward to updating my Versa to a Versa 3. Thankfully I noticed that one of the pre-release reviews mentioned the lack of basic onboard music storage before I purchased. Whilst extremely disappointed by the lack of what I see as a basic feature, as a long-time customer I would have been willing to wait for a future firmware update had the company communicated that this was in the pipeline but, like everyone else, I'm extremely disappointed by the lack of information coming from the company. Unfortunately for Fitbit there is now lots of competition in this field and I'll be treating myself to a watch from one of the competition this holiday season.
I have been using my charge 2 for 5 years and intended to upgrade my watch to versa 3. Only to find out that I will still need to bring my phone out for run since I need my music. This is not a upgrade at all. Really disappointed, going to return my order. Please do something fitbit!
After a tragic incident involving my phone and the lawnmower 🙄 I now only mow the grass wearing my Versa 2 and Bluetooth headphones. I was excited to see the new features of the Versa 3: GPS without needing phone, answering calls from the watch, still waterproof, etc. Now, not so excited that I can't use my own music that I've already purchased and instead would have to pay for a premium service. I'm a loyal fitbit user as the Versa 2 is probably my 8th Fitbit over the the last several years including the original Versa. Not happy Fitbit. Order = cancelled until you make the change.
I have always used Fitbit and I am looking to upgrade however i want a tracker that has gps built in as well as stored music as I dont want to pay a subscription fee of £120 a year. Please add stored music to the versa 3 unless I will have to upgrade to the Garmin.
