I have had a One for 3 years now and love it but am a bit disappointed that some features are not available on it (e.g.. active mins per hour etc). Please can you make a new clip on fitbit with more features. I really don't want a wrist one at all.
I just spent time looking up the Inspire. Beside not tracking floors, there is a clip available- but wait.......there's more........it's NOT included, and is $19.95 But wait .........there's more.........they DO include either a small or large band-Just what those of us want who Don't Want Bands........so by the time it's all said and done, You are spending just under $90 for a 'new' widget...............and if you wanted the HR Inspire they don't even offer a clip....Wow there are just some things people do that defy description.
I would miss the floor tracking, but I like that it's swimproof. I lost two Ones to a watery death, so that might be enough to justify giving up the floor tracking. I get the feeling it's hard to have both features. It must have something to do with the barometer needing non-sealed air or something. As for the clip, give it a couple of weeks and knock-off clips will be available on Amazon for a lot less than $20. It always happens.
I'm excited that the new one for kids is also swimproof. My daughter wants one, and that's what has kept me from buying it. I don't trust her to keep it dry.
@Trail_it I was just pondering the exact same thing to myself. I think my One is probably 5 years old now, and I was just looking at the Inspire features and specs. I've only ever had the one One, but there was a close call or two during visits to the water park in the summer. It would be nice to have one that was truly waterproof (I'd also use the watch function to keep track of when to re-apply sunscreen).
And although I tell myself that the step feature is necessity, I think that's something that's going out on my One. In the last 3 months, it has recorded the walk from my parking lot to my office chair anywhere from 0 flights of stairs to 5 flights of stairs. And that ain't right. I've stopped looking at it, since I know it's far from accurate any more. But number of steps I take and how I sleep are things I DO look at every day.
I know it's possible to have both features as the Charge 3 has both. Then again, look at the problems the Charge 3 is having with accuracy issues.
Interesting - it appears Fitbit has now discontinued both the Zip and the Alta (at least those are the ones I noticed are no longer listed on the website under products you can buy). When I lost my last One, I purchased the Alta and a clip on Amazon which has worked but - and I think this will probably be the same for the Inspire - in addition to no longer having the ability to count flights of stairs, the main draw back of both the Alta and the Zip is/was that they are big and clunky compared to the One. (Fitbit you need to include measurements in your product descriptions). Larger with less features is not an improvement in my book.
Indeed. Do you know that there's ALREADY someone that's asked in the Inspire threads what the physical dimensions of the device - out of strap/clip are?
That's basic information that needs to be displayed on every single product.
@rusmo I agree! The only products listed as tracking Floors Climbed are the big bulky Ionic, Versa and Charge 3.
It's great that Fitbit released a bunch of new "affordable" trackers but I seriously don't understand why they want to lose out on a huge market of people wanting a clip-on tracker. Are we (all of us on this thread) really the only people who want to track our stairs without wearing a big smartwatch type tracker? I find this so hard to believe!
We are definitely not the only ones wanting a clip on tracker that counts stairs. I have told many current and former One customers about this board and they have either given up, can't be bothered or ask me to comment for them. When I One was around, I told so many people about it. Fitbit is just missing the mark all the way around here.
I don't understand why we can't use the clip on the inspire HR, clearly the HR function would not work but I don't care. I personally would only want the inspire HR for the add sleep functions to find out how much light, deep and REM sleep I am getting (I suffer from insomnia this info would be helpful to me)... so why can't I wear it on a clip all day and then wear on my wrist when sleeping? Am I missing something? I do really like that it is completely waterproof, I have lost a ONE to the swimming pool forgetting I was wearing it!
@jln556 I think Fitbit is more indicating that the "extra" features (the heart rate, and the other things that go with recording HR, like the sleep stages) would not work if worn in a clip, without the sensor against the skin. I looks like the device itself is the same size, just the way the Alta and AltaHR are the same size (although they have different chargers, go figure!) I'm 99% the InspireHR would fit into the clip the same as the plain Inspire.
I can absolutely see Fitbit discontinuing the Alta with the introduction of the Inspire ... as it has everything the Alta, except it has a button, rather than just having to tap it to change stats/screens. Looks like custom watch faces too. But the same price. With those options, I don't know why anyone would buy an Alta over an Inspire in the future as they are about the same size, same price. Too bad neither include "floors" ...
I prefer having stairs. I have upped my goal to 30 a day and often just have to go walk up and down and up and down. It is wonderful cardio, gets the heart rate up and my legs feel it. It is unclear why they would take the altimeter function out of this when it is so simple. Last time I actually spoke to someone at Fitbit, they said the developers have conflicts trying to make the code work. Maybe they need more advanced developers....
Like others, I thought that stair tracking required some sort of opening in the device (which is why the One was not swim/waterproof).
But the Charge3 does stairs - and is swimproof. Seems like an intentional omission on the Inspire (expensive to implement?)
Plus I personally don't need the smartphone integration (txt, alerts, calls, etc). If I have my phone with me, I'm going to use it - If I don't have my phone, these features don't help.
Doesn't seem all that hard - and I'd pay a premium - and they save the strap costs. . .
Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We’re happy to let you know that this has been released on Fitbit Inspire (note, not included with Fitbit Inspire HR). You can take Fitbit Inspire from fashionable wristband to understated accessory with an easy subtle clip. @Yellowcow, as you've submitted a high quality suggestion that was released, you will now receive a higher voting weight worth 5 vote Thank you for sharing your ideas and enthusiasm with the community. Please enjoy the new feature!
Glendamay and JLN556- I agree with you. Obviously my attempt at making a statement was at least understood by you both. 🙂 I want floors as well, and as far as the 'no clip' for HR-I DO understand it would not work, but there are other features perhaps some people would want. The reason I would like to comment sometimes apparently puts people on the defensive-since I wouldn't want to offend people-even ones I don't know, I'll keep my views to myself, my horse, and my dog - 🙂

If you use the clip, how does the Inspire track sleep? Can you do it manually with the button on the side?
For 19.95 you can purchase a clip to use with the lower level inspire, the upper level one that does heartbeat does not. The lower level does not count flights of steps but is water resistant.
We should not have to buy extra products and try and make a sub par product work for our needs. Everyone wants a clip on tracker that counts stairs like the One. There was nothing wrong with the One so please just bring it back and stop trying to push inferior products on us.
