I have had a One for 3 years now and love it but am a bit disappointed that some features are not available on it (e.g.. active mins per hour etc). Please can you make a new clip on fitbit with more features. I really don't want a wrist one at all.
I must admit I find it a little funny and confusing when people on this thread say " I'm so mad at Fitbit for not providing a good non-wrist tracker, I refuse to wear something on my wrist! So I'm switching to the Apple Watch/Garmin/Samsung" ... all wrist trackers! ???
The few other "clip" options out there generally aren't much better than the Zip, and/or also wrist models that can be converted to clip.
There is a 3rd party clip made specifically for the Alta. The Zip case will hold the Charge2(Charge3). I know someone posted they felt the Charge2 was too big to be worn on the bra like the One was, but I've been wearing one there for a while. I don't feel it is very different in size (I'm sure it depends on the bra, the shirt ... the girls. I admit to wearing a sports bra most of the time, and everything is all just squished in together).
I absolutely understand the frustration with Fitbit for not listening ... but it's certainly not unheard of for a company to discontinue a popular product, or a network to cancel a popular series. We don't always understand everything behind the scenes. I'm sure Fitbit IS missing out on sales by not offering a good clip-on, and I'm sure other gadgets out there have benefits as well, but personally I'm not willing to give up on Fitbit, even to make a statement. And it's for selfish reasons. My years of history, my understanding of the app, my Fitbit friends, all the apps my Fitbit is linked to (MFP, Achievemint, Trendweight, etc.) ... I'm a continuity girl. I don't like change.
@Redbulldan ... I'm also a gadget girl. I am currently wearing a Motiv ring (very similar to the Oura). I like it, but it could never replace Fitbit or be a sole tracker. Steps are WAY under, and the feedback isn't nearly as complete. Apple Watch is nice, but $$ and gets outdated quickly (Hubs and two boys tried it, only one son still wears his and he says he's about ready to give up on it and try Fitbit again). While it does track sleep, it also needs charging every 24-hours or so. Anyone who has the watch that I know personally doesn't track sleep because they charge it at night instead of wearing it.
Funny how the vote thumb appears on some but not others. I voted for this. Maybe Fitbit is more receptive to the development of an improved one. ANYTHING for a clip on .:)
I have so many years worth of data with Fitbit, so much history, I'm sticking. But I sure don't "sell it" like I used to with talking up their products. And if they do go under, and I'm forced to abandon ship, it sure as heck won't be for another company's wrist model.
I am frustrated with Fitbit though, now knowing they make and offer a wrist model with an optional clip that's offered only to their in house employees. It's like they get it - the employees know and demanded the option - but yet they won't offer it up for selling to the public.
Wait . . . The Charge 2/3 will fit in the Zip case? REALLY? Cause you're blowing my mind with that. I know they should fit in the Vivofit clip case you get from Amazon.
There was a Charge 3 on display, out of it's box, at Costco a few days ago and I stopped to look and touch it. It's really not that much bigger than the One. I could totally see wearing it on my bra (my girls will hide it nicely). But I haven't seen anyone do a step/stairs comparison with it clipped, and say a One, and I don't know if I'm ready to drop $150 on it to test it out.
Yes I think you are missing the point of this thread, no offense intended.
I don’t normally wear a watch which is why I originally posted in this thread for another clip device like the fitbit one. That’s what I prefer. The Ōura ring will do that for me. If not the ring and I’m forced to buy a watch and start wearing a watch (something I don’t do) then I don’t see the purpose of buying a FitBit Watch when an Apple Watch would offer so many more features than any FitBit Watch.
There is a model the Fitbit Inspire that offers a clip. But it’s only available through participating corporations and health plans. So, no I don’t think it’s a test for an upcoming public model. I think as of now Fitbit is just being silly and only offering it to certain people.
Agreed - the posts where others saying they've bought competitors' products because fitbit no longer sells the One are likely the ONLY posts that will get Fitbit's attention. Businesses hate losing customers to their competition. The posts where users say they've bought another fitbit product are likely counterproductive, as they just tell Fitbit its user base is willing to adapt.
@Sunrider it was actually @JEH1 who was asking about the thread with the tracker for corporations and Fitness plans. I remember that thread though and when checked it out, looked like blend of the Alta and Charge2. I wondered if they have an option to mark how it's being worn (clipped or wrist) like they do for the dominant/non-dominant on the arm, perhaps tracking data differently based on that.
But YES, the Zip case, while made for the fatter Zip, molds around the Charge2 pretty perfectly. I'm surprised it took me so long to notice (I had tried the aftermarket clip for GarminVivofit, that is a really tight fit, Zips is a little looser, but not enough that I've had any trouble with it falling out). I had been putting on an extra zip (just to compare how it fared with the One and the Versa) and recently switched it out to an extra Charge2 we have around (what I wore before my boys upgraded me to the Versa). I HAVE still been wearing my One. SO ... for comparing the last three weeks ...
So while there are some differences, it's close enough for me.I've looked at individual days and specific workouts... during this trial I wore the Charge2 on my torso, and the One on my pocket (Versa on the wrist obviously *Ü*). The calorie burn and active minutes are a little more varied (the versa also incorporates HR ... and actually the Charge2 does too, I've been putting it in the case backwards, so the little green flashy lights are against my skin and I've been getting HR readings. Not sure how accurate... just more data I'm watching.) Happy to say the flights of stairs were within one on the One and the Charge 2 most days (ummm, no comment on the Versa stair count, I think it's just my device, but it's been CraYzy, 500+ in a day, ummm, no).
Shellmybelle, does that Garmin count flights of stairs? I'm on my last One now, bought from Amazon a while back as insurance for when mine died. It quit about 2 weeks ago and I know the One I'm using now won't last forever. Thinking ahead...
Many good posts on here but, for some reason I'm unable to vote for them. When my One died I contacted Fitbit to see if it could be reactivated but no luck. I did ask the moderator about the corporate model, haven't heard back yet.
@maryclaire3 Let us know about the corporate model and how we can qualify!
Also:
I am having “post “ trouble again. My last attempt at replying to a post resulted in a red warning sayin there was an error- something wrong and to change the highlighted areas-but there were no highlights. I abandoned the post because my past
experience has been that if I do try to repost, I get a warning that I have violated the rules and posted multiple times.
No that Garmin doesn't count stairs but that's about the only thing missing from it compared to the one. Still measures sleep steps, integrates with my fitness pal as well as the program my health insurance uses, has "timed activities" as well as auto activity sensing (if I go for a walk, it will recognize that time as a walk). The clip on factor was way important to me, more than a stair count. Plus the price was I think $52 on Amazon for the tracker and I bought a pack of 3 clips for 9.99. So the price was good too.
My second fitbit one's battery just died and won't accept a charge. I NEED a new fitbit, having been using my ONE for over 6 years - joining the fitbit community on January 4, 2013. The ZIP is not good enough. I don't want an armband and if I did they are ALL too large for my 5 inch wrist. I've always had tiny wrists. I want a discreet clip on fitbit. The ZIP doesn't even count flights of stairs. What's the point of a fitbit that can't do that? The silent arm was handy at times, too.
Why on earth would you NOT have a clip on full featured fitbit. I have almost 28 million steps counted for 10% of my entire life. Do you really want me to stop counting now? I'm so super disappointed in fitbit and this bad decision to discontinue their best basic product ever. No way will I pay over $300 for the last fitbit ONE being sold by an outside vendor on Amazon.
This, or even just release a proper clip attachment for the flex 2. When I got mine it was advertised as wristband or pendant or clip, but I’ve never seen a clip for it available. Although flex 2 doesn’t count stairs (?!) but that’s a subject for another suggestion.
I started off with a Fitbit one. I loved it. I have had the Fitbit Alta for a while now. I just found a clip on Amazon that makes it exactly like the Fitbit one. It snaps in to the clip to keep it secure. I just got it, so I will have to see if the step counts seem similar to when wearing on the wrist. I just have so many watches and bracelets I want to wear, but not with the Fitbit.
Yes, counting flights of stairs climbed is a very important feature to me. Moreso than the silent alarm. I'm very disappointed at this turn of events for me with fitbit. 😞
Sorry, my bad. I forgot that i swap between my Alta and my Charge 2. I don’t really care about stairs climbed and only remembered that i see them in my app. It’s probably just counting them from the Charge.. 🤦:female_sign:
Fitbit just lost two customers: should have brought back the One.
Since Fitbit doesn't care about its One customers - I am one of the apparently large number of people who would much prefer a rechargeable clip tracker - I'm not giving them my money now that I "have" to go with a wristband tracker. Just bought Garmins for myself and my husband. (My One is still OK for now, but his dropped out of his pocket in a parking lot and was run over before he realized it was missing and went looking for it!) I'll keep the app for a couple more weeks while I compare my new Garmin to the One (steps, sleep, etc.), then it's goodbye Fitbit.
Some have hypothesized that Fitbit will not bring back the One because it is too discreet - they want us all to be free advertising for them (i.e. visible products). Well, now I guess two of us will be free advertisement for the competition. Too bad, because what we really wanted was to keep buying Ones.

What does the 'Dashboard' (or whatever Garmin calls it) look like compared to Fitbit? That is one thing I think Fitbit does well. It's graphs/charts do a good job of displaying steps, calories, sleep condition, etc.
And can you move your Fitbit data over to whatever software Garmin uses?
Also, can you set sleep manually with the Garmin, as opposed to using its 'auto' method? That was what I liked about my Ultra: press the button to start the sleep cycle, and press it again to end it. And the dashboard accepted those times. The Charge2 I bought doesn't allow me to set the sleep times on the watch--or if it does I can't figure out how. And for me the 'auto' sleep times are hours off!
I'm not one that originally posted about the GarminVivofit3, but I have tried it too. I know some switchers have been happy with it, but I just could not convert after Fitbit. As far as sleep, I don't believe you can start/stop sleep manually. There IS a timer, but ... I guess I never tried for anything other than exercise. I have not been impressed with the "auto" detect. It would seriously start my "sleep" very early in the evening when I was still walking around! You can go in manually and change the start/stop time on the app or computer.
There is a dashboard online, but it's not as user friendly as Fitbit's (you can't arrange the tiles or show as much up front). You have to initiate a sync from the device (to the app, you can't initiate a sync from the app like Fitbit), it doesn't offer an all-day sync like Fitbit does. It's "backlit" which is NOT the same as an illuminated display (my gym is pretty dark, I have to press the button to be able to see the numbers, but I can't press too long or it shifts it into "timer" mode accidentally).
My experience ... Garmin is for RUNNERS. It has a lot more detailed data on miles/pace/speed ... I don't care about any of that for my walking, elliptical, Zumba. It DOES NOT SHOW STEPS for individual workouts! I can't get over that! I mean your steps are gathered and added to the daily total, but when you look at the stats on the app for a specific workout, no step stats. I does show calorie burn, but unless you are running, calorie count is WAY under any other estimate (from a machine, from MFP, from Fitbit, from any other device ... like an intense 20min elliptical workout, any other estimate is around 200 calories. Garmin credits me 89. Same for walking or Zumba. Running is the only place where the calorie count is similar to what I've seen elsewhere).
The "intensity minutes" are basically Fitbit's "active minutes" but again, I was frustrated because it only kept a weekly running total. I couldn't see my daily minutes unless I manually figured it out (writing them down at the end of each day, subtracting from the total). Garmin doesn't have the "250 steps per hour" tracking/display, which is something I've really enjoyed with Fitbit. No stairs tracking, although their higher end models do, so you see "elevation" there in the app as a constant reminder that it does NOT track it 😉
I love my weekly email recap of Fitbit stats. Seeing my totals, averages, comparisons to last week ... I don't get that from Garmin, although there is a "Last Seven Days" average on the app. I'll admit, I don't understand Garmin as well as Fitbit. Maybe there are things I'm missing, but I tried their forum ... nothing like this forum. I can't figure out the friends to even find out if any of my friends are on there.
That was my experience with Garmin. I'm glad it works for some people. Sticking with Fitbit myself.
I've heard back from Fitbit about the corporate tracker:
"I don't have much information about this yet. By reading the page it seems it will be available "exclusively through Fitbit corporate, wellness, health plan, and health systems partners and customers of their organizations, participants, and members."
Once I have more information about it I will let you know.
Thanks again for sharing this information. Have a great day! "
I thanked him for his reply and said i'm looking forward to what he can find out. Maybe it will be released to the general public... I'll keep you posted.
