Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

As a new mom I was thrilled to unearth my Fitbit and use it to track activity and nutrition. I'm so disappointed that there is not a nursing option to add adequate calories to our daily need

What an excellent idea! In this way your tracker will know more details about your performance while working out. It will benefit a lot of women while facing pregnancy challenges and it will add more value to calories burned estimation taken by the HR feature.  Any other ideas you might have, feel free to share or vote for them, if it’s already suggested in the Feature Request Forum. Thanks for sharing and congrats on your new family member!

I also agree!!

It sucks that I'm gaining weight when the point of Fitbit is to lose weight. If there was a pregnancy setting it would make more sense for my weight gain! And it would be nice to make sure I'm only gaining the amount needed and not more!!

Agreed! Even a few of these items would be useful and it could be updated bit by bit. I'd love to even just have the updated heart rate and weight gain incorporated in to a "pregnant" setting to start with, and the other items added as and when they are made!

I agree as well. I'm nursing my 8 month old, chasing my 2.5 year old, and trying to regain previous fitness levels.

A setting for pregnancy would also be helpful, as you body changes pretty drastically during pregnancy, so I'm sure they would need a separate algorithm to properly track your fitness level.

Hi Everyone,

I'm totally on-board with FitBit including a pregnancy mode! Here are my suggestions, which may repeat some of those already mentioned above:

A pregnancy mode is also good for distinguishing between weight during
pregnancy and normal weight in general when looking at the long-term
charts. Another important distinction is heart rate -- pregnant women have
increased heart rates overtime and it would be good to distinguish that as
well. Another potential parameter: maximum recommended heart rate during
exercises -- it's different (lower) when you're pregnant. Would be good to
have alarms and tips specifically for that. The list goes on & on.

Cheers,
Diana

Even if the feature doesn't add to caloric intake for the day, I'd like to see something to address the increase in a pregnant womans heartrate. I've been watching my readings go up slowly through this pregnancy and it does cause a bit of anxiety unless you know that it is normal.

Breastfeeding should be added as an activity as it could help mothers track & monitor thier nursing habits. I've used another app in the past but it would be handy to have in an already used app.

Hi I have a Fitbit Charge 2. It would be awesome if somehow features for pregnant women could be incorporated into the Fitbit. Something fun and exciting 😀

I think Fitbit should make a pregnant mode again, with basic essentials. Breastfeeding, maintaining, gaining, reminder to drink water. I think it would be a great help, specially for the moms that are always running around and can't remember to sit and take a break to drink water. It would also be great to track after being pregnant where it can help you start setting a goal to loose weight as soon as after giving birth. I know i would enjoy having all of these things on my HR2 it would make it that much easier for me to maintain my weight while being pregnant or at least not gaining a whole lot like a did with my first!

I can't believe this has taken so long. Fitbit must not be run by mothers. For a fitness app, it is not too much to ask that a setting be in place for a condition that a huge percentage of the population will experience for several months (or years!) of their lives. Monitoring healthy weight gain based on trimester and starting weight is very simple and important. Obviously, a fitness app should also be able to account for the calories lost via breastfeeding. Moms need to know how much to eat - not just for themselves, but also for their babies. Even water intake recommendations are slightly different. I would love to see this feature added, and I don't understand why Fitbit hasn't added this already. Also, the fact that this thread has existed for so long and STILL has comments popping up means that moms will continue to look for this feature until it arrives.

It would be great for the app to allow you to enter everytime you nurse because everytime your nurse you burn calories.

Breastfeeding dramatically affects our BMR, please make an update so this can be factored in. The extra approx 500 calories burned can be logged as a custom activity but it's tedious having to do it every day and it incorrectly affects exercise frequency goals.

Knowing that fitbit will never change this and that the GPS tracking function constantly readjusts itself after I run to tell me I didn't quite reach the kilometre I was going for, I gave mine Blaze to a friend. If I'm going to have a tracker that refuses to acknowledge pregnancy I may as well have an accurate one that's prettier and can go in water, plus my Garmin 235 doesn't compare me to elite athletes and tell me I'd be fitter of I lost weight. So long fitbit, I won't be buying your products again.

You can currently do this under log exercise but the problem is it counts towards your weekly exercise goal. Workaround exercises such as Driving and Breastfeeding should not count towards your weekly exercise goal.

Ideally there would be an option you could tick to say you are breastfeeding so it's automatically taken into account without you needing to log it every day.

Fitbit must not be run with any women! We have been asking for a menstrual tracking system for 3 years as well with no response. It's pretty crazy that something that affects so many people is falling on deaf ears!

I wish this app would track as much as S Health because I feel it's very limited and basic. Tracking examples would include: stress, SpO2, Blood Pressure, Caffeine, etc.

At the moment, I haven't been able to use it to its fullest potential because I'm pregnant, and it would be nice for the app to take that into account somehow: Have a separate mode to track healthy/unhealthy weight gain during pregnancy, calories burned while breastfeeding. (Which I'm sure will be tough.)

Hopefully with a later update some of this will be taken into consideration.

As we all know a pregnant woman's heart rate is higher than her resting heart rate prior to pregnancy, I think being able to track that along with weight suitable for a healthy pregnancy, the increased water intake, plus other reminders would be a plus for woman like myself who enjoy using their fitbit nonstop.

We pregnant & nursing moms really need these features!!!!

Agreed! I would also like it if the heart rate monitor had a pregnancy mode. My Alta HR thinks I'm in fat burning mode 6+ hours a day and my cardio score is going down because my resting heart rate has gotten higher. It would be really nice to track my health through pregnancy. My Alta HR isn't as useful as it was before pregnancy.

Can there be a part of my account that lists I am pregnant, I feel guilty inputting my weight every week & it's going higher hahahaha then receiving let's go for a stroll 200 steps hahahahah like well, I can do 30 mins a day & did that sorry Fitbit lol I have to limit myself lol

Not only does it seem like a huge oversight they don't have a pregnancy option I think it would be very helpful to track other status changes. Pregnancy, sickness, injury, surgeries etc. I would love it FitBit did a better job at showing overall health and wellness beyond being primarily a fancy pedometer. There are lots of things that can affect someone's weight and activity and I would love to be able to record those with FitBit to get more accurate long-term pictures of my health.

And while we are at it, can we have breastfeeding as a no impact calorie output. I used to put it as 90 minutes exercise on myfitnesspal, so at 6 months it became 60 minutes and reduced the increased allowance, but fitbit congratulated me on my active days. No good!

Breastfeeding requires around 500 calories. FYI.
