Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

chopino9n2 You’re my hero. Well said. I contacted some fitness moms on fb to see if they’d be willing to post these hashtags to their followers as well. Also posted to the Pregnancy group in the fitbit app.

I don’t know if there was a consensus on hashtags, but I posted on twitter with #fitbitmamashade I’m sick of this being brushed under the rug. I hope something works.

This feature really needs some attention. As a software developer this makes me think you don't have anyone on your team that is female or that cares about/values females. I can't believe I got my Versa under the false premise that female health tracking was being prioritized... what a JOKE!

Just found this article from before the women’s health feature was released.

www.theverge.com%2F2018%2F3%2F13%2F17113096%2Ffitbit-watch-period-tracking-wearable-fitness&psig=AOv...

Apparently someone said in an interview (or implied anyway) that adding pregnancy would be an option in the app.

Either they were misinformed, or someone changed it before release. Also, I appreciate that Fitbit doesn’t want users to use this as a conception or contraception tool, HOWEVER, as a “basic period tracking feature” it is completely useless unless you can enter stuff manually. And include that you’re pregnant. Or breastfeeding. Or LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE THAT INTERRUPTS A NORMAL MENSTRAL CYCLE.

Really I’m not even interested in the menstrual tracking part because I use Clue for that. What I am thoroughly annoyed with is the actual health tracking (my whole reason for investing in fitbit products) which becomes wildly inaccurate due to my pregnant state! I am not gaining unhealthy weight; I am growing another human and gaining fat to prepare for lactation. My heart is not failing; I am circulating for two! My caloric needs in the first trimester increases by 50% just to keep up with both mine and baby’s metabolic changes, hormone production, and tons of other reasons for marked increase in ATP production! Oh and then the third trimester when baby needs to gain 8oz a week kinda needs at least 300 cal extra per day. ALL of this has been studied and published and accepted in the medical community; why is Fitbit dragging their feet? It’s like they dont want to be associated with we “birthers”. Apple is looking MIGHTY good right now...

There is no point in having a female health app while pregnant cause it is useless to track weight you either should be gaining or if over weight still healthy to lose what is being lost and if your eating right and getting enough calories for both you and baby. As well as drinking enough water to stay hydrated while pregnant.

Yikes, Fitbit. I googled how to add pregnancy to the period tracker and saw posts from May 2018. I figured, oh good, I’m sure it’s fixed by now. Until I kept scrolling and see posts from TWO DAYS AGO still requesting this feature. How is it possible to have a period tracker without the ability to track period lapses due to pregnancy?! That is not a useful or accurate tool. Not to mention the weight and heart rate changes that happen during pregnancy - how can it accurately tell me about my health when it doesn’t know what’s going on with my health? Swing and a big, big miss. Pro-tip: current public opinion is big on supporting women right now. Someone is missing a huge positive PR wave by not making this change and promoting it.

Yeah, that's absolutely a must and it's incredible that Fitbit's female health tracking module was released without this support.  It's a fitness tracker and I'm going to want to keep up with my fitness while I'm pregnant--shouldn't my Fitbit be able to help me with this?

Despite the number of comments on this other suggestion (https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Feature-Suggestions/Add-Pregnancy-Nursing-mode-for-more-accurate-cal...), Fitbit has marked it "not currently planned".  So I guess this shiny new Charge 3 will be useless for me in a few months.

Actually it’s very helpful if you’re pregnant. Exercise is key to a healthy baby and delivery and you need to be very mindful of your heart rate while exercising.

Adding a pregnancy option would be very helpful. If you’re going to have an ovulation tracker then the next step would be pregnancy. Exercise, healthy diet, and water intake all go hand in hand with pregnancy. I think you are missing a very useful component to this app.

Hi @Alsand04, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here.

I have used my Fitbit through several pregnancies. This would be a great feature! I assumed you could log a pregnancy but I guess not.

I'm pregnant and still wearing my fitbit.  My fitness according to FitBit has dramatically declined, though I'm exercising the same amount as previously and my trainer says I've maintained my fitness.  The fitbit also suggests how much I could improve my fitness by losing weight!  Seriously!!! I'm sure you can do better than this!

It would be a great feature if you can tell the Versa that I’m pregnant, it’s a bit frustrating that you cannot as it still logs when next period etc is and it’s not my true female health. Be great if this could be added. Thanks

I haven’t seen a comment about this, but it needs to be considered if pregnancy is going to be part of women’s health data. Blood volume doubles in pregnancy, so resting heart rate can increase. On average it is increased from around 70bpm to around 80bpm or 90bpm. My app thinks I’m out of shape, when I’m probably in the best shape I’ve been in since high school. I just think that adjustment should be made. I’m sure there’s a lot that goes into that technology, but it would make my Fitbit a whole lot more useful if this and the rest of these pregnancy and breastfeeding suggestions were added to the female health tracker.

I'm pregnant too, and have actually reached for my fitbit to track my health and weight. I thought there was a pregnancy feature but apparently I was wrong. My aria scales already think im a guest because it doesn't understand that I'm gaining weight, and my tracker is going to assume that I'm putting on unhealthy weight when in actual fact it's healthy weight.

I'm actually really disappointed that this wasn't implemented with the female health feature. Tracking health and fitness isn't isolated to losing weight.

@Lolo.x FYI when I first got my aria scale I remember reading that they don’t recommend using it during pregnancy, due to the bioelectrical

impedence sending a small electrical current through the body. My scale is several years old so I don’t know if that is still the recommendation (and it’s probably only for liability reasons anyway) but I wanted to pass that along.

@MKSmithshould have mentioned, I have special Aria shoes and socks I put on so it cant send the electrical pulse for body fat, it just takes my weight measurement. Fails on the BFP.

Whoa cool! Where did you find those if you don’t mind me asking??
