Pregnancy setting/mode for more accurate data

Necessary:

Logging a pregnancy is a must, as is the ammenorheic period due to breastfeeding.  These drastically affect predictions making the app useless for many.  Eg. I have entered my data since 2011.  My periods are like clock work occurring every 27 days... but I have had 4 pregnancies in that time so the app is telling me that my peiods average every 104 days.

Useful:

Option to add basal body temp and ovulation data (eg. predictor strip).

it is ridiculous if there's an option to log sexual activity and that you took a morning after pill but not  pregnancy. This would affect so many things about your activity, sleep, heart rate. Much more than having taken a morning after pill.

Would love to be able to update the female tracking feature to let it know that you are pregnant and or/trying to conceive. Nothing fancy, just to track the increase of BPM, resting HR, increase of caloric intake, and sleeping changes. Would be nice to see it tracked in a positive way.

When pregnant, obviously cycles stop. The womans health needs to have a pregnant feature that turns off cycles and instead has a pregnancy duration (ex 6 weeks 3 days) or a countdown to the end of pregnancy (ex 120 more days). It would also go above and beyond if you added pregnancy insights every week (baby is the size of a banana, baby is growing fingernails this week) etc.

While pregnant, A womans heart rate also increases and she needs to take in more calories. This should be accounted for in food tracking. She may also be advised not to go above a certain heart rate. There should be options to give warnings on the watch when a pregnant woman gets to a certain heart rate (completely optional as this varies person to person).  Pregnant women are also advised to drink more water. While in "pregnancy mode" the water intake tracker should automaticslly change to the recommended amount for pregnant women. The pregnancy mode should also slightly change the rate she burns calories as pregnancy does burn about 300 more calories a day.

During postpartum, cycles may not return until the mother stops breastfeeding, sometimes even longer than a year postpartum. During breastfeeding, she must take in more calories as well. She should also drink more water.

Mild excersice is advised during the first few weeks postpartum. The heartrate tracker should have an optional "warning" system for when a woman hits a certain heart rate which gradually increases over the first 8 weeks post partum until she is free to excersice as she pleases once again (more or less). There should also be an option in womans health for when periods return postpartum to turn cycles back on.

If you must incorporate womens health, please dont exclude nursing and pregnant mamas !

It would be nice if the female health tracker had the option to tell it you’re pregnant when it asks if you’re period started or predicts you’re period.

I’ve been using Fitbit for about 5 years now and after finding out I’m pregnant, I’ve been looking for apps to track nuitrition/calories while pregnant. I haven’t found any apps and I think it would be helpful to add this feature to the app. As a first time mom I’m trying to make sure I’m on top of my nutrition/fitness while I progress through this pregnancy.

Currently expecting my second. I’m an avid food tracker (4 years strong) and wear my Fitbit daily. There are some things that could be put in a simple add-on for the Female Health portion of the current app (which I love btw).

-toggle for women to indicate that they are pregnant and a prompt to input due date which alters the user view to have a checklist/input section including:

-prenatal vitamin

-indication of how many weeks along

-kegels has

-one or two exercise suggestions/modifications

-similar symptom log as in current female health

-Also, when a woman switches back to “not pregnant mode” provide information or something about both postpartum depression and support after a loss

I recently found out I was pregnant, but I knew 2 weeks before it appeared on a test because I always monitor my heart rate and sleep with my Fitbit. I found out through research that around ovulation your rhr increases by about 2 bpm for a few days, so I started looking for that with my fitbit app and sure enough, that happened. About a week after that happened I noticed my rhr started slowly increasing and after about a week of it increasing by a total of about 10 bpm it has remained around the same. I also noticed, around the time my rhr started increasing, that I started getting more deep sleep as well. My usual amount was around 1 hour give or take 5-15 minutes, and it increased by about 30 minutes. Implantation usually happens around a week after ovulation and thats when my deep sleep and my rhr started increasing. I'm sure with a little more research, you could possibly incorporate that into your app for women trying to conceive. Other trackers that use this information for trying to conceive can be very expensive and fitbit already tracks all that stuff at a way more budget friendly price and sadly I doubt very many people are even aware they could use Fitbit that way.

I’m not the fist person to request a “pregnancy mode” and I am sure I won’t be the last!  Why is Fitbit ignoring this request?

So your not the first person. In fact Fitbit use to have such a setting, but it did absolutely nothing, so instead of deceiving the user Fitbit decided to remove it.

I notice the three older requests have specific thoughts on why the pregnancy setting should be added, rather than simply saying we need a pregnancy setting without backing it up with why we need it.

I don’t need to post a diatribe...it was a request/statement and a valid one, in my opinion.  Those posts are marked as “not currently planned” but, thank you for posting them to me along with your opinion on my post!  Have a blessed and happy day!

Add the option to mark yourself as pregnant so that your period cycle length doesn't get thrown out of whack because you don't have a period for 9 months. Simple.

Please provide an option for pregnant women. The app is predicting my period, and I can’t adjust it.

Also, maybe the app can predict due date based on last (first day) of period.

Thanks 🙂

Hi Fitbit!

How about developing a pregnancy mode?

It is tough enough to be pregnant, if one is not to also witness that health, in fitbit's eyes, is slowly but surely plunging through pregnancy. As a health care professional, it's not something I recommend to pregnant users.

The body is going through a number of physiological changes throughout pregnancy, including increased blood volume which further increases the resting heart rate. A healthy pregnancy should also consist of a certain weight gain. Both resting heart rate and weight are two important factors fitbit utilises to decide what shape the user is in.

The increasing burden of a pregnancy along with deteriorating values and declining fitness category is not a combination I want for or recommend to the vulnerable group that is pregnant users. In worst case, fitbit can lead to unfortunate lifestyle choices during a very important and sensitive period of life for both mother and baby.

I hope this thread can help fitbit continue to develop and refine its product to meet and help users in all stages of life, the best way possible.

Kind regards,
