Reduce the minimum time limit for manually recorded activities.

You recently made a minimum limit of 5 minutes for a manually recorded activity to be synced and show up in the dashboard. (See this post.) I understand the need to prevent accidental activities, but this is too long of a minimum.

I think the longest it should be is 2 minutes. 1 would be better, and 90 seconds could be a good compromise.

If you vote for this please add a comment with what you think the minimum time should be.

I am in agreement with 1 minute or 1 minute and 30 secs.

I agree, I think a 1-2 minimum is much better. Especially if you want to track different exercises that last only a few minutes at the gym. I just worked out for 4 min and 30 seconds until I received a phone call and had to stop my exercise. I'm trying not to include any warmup/cool down into my exercise stats. But I'm sad to see my exercise didn't even count in my dashboard or app...however I was unaware of the 5 minute minimum until after the fact.

yesterday did an exercise of 60 minutes and was not registered

Accidental logs are WAY easier on a flex and you can have them at null time length.

Besides they are the easiest things to delete how are they a problem?

Why hamper the modes of use?  I would like a much shorter minimum activity log.

I would be happy with being able to flag/bookmark multiple points within a longer workout instead, but I would think that would be much more difficult to impliment.

Yes the 5 minute minimum will confuse many new users. It's not documented in any obvious place and new users will try out a short exercise and get no result. They will then think the device is faulty and rate it accordingly in Amazon etc. Much better to have no minimum, as workouts can be easily deleted.

1 minute minimum please

A minimum time bar is the wrong solution for the problem of accidently logging an excercise.

I think there should be no minimum time and instead just make it easy to delete workouts in the app/website.

The trackers should collect data with no limitation - the app/website should be used to manage the data.

Please fix this bug. When I manually record an activity (by pressing the button on my charge HR) if the the activity is shorted than 5 min. fitbit.com is NOT updated and my activity disappears. Currently my activity is properly tracked for activities greater than 5 minutes but come on there are many short activities that should be being logged (especially when I manually force it to). Please fix!

This is a great idea. I could see this feature being very beneficial for people who do track or sprinting workouts. Thanks for sharing it with us Robot Happy.

I'd love to see a zero minimum. I do short heavy activities a few times a week, like tireflips, hill sprints, prowler, etc. and they don't usually exceed 5 minutes. I was looking forward to them being automatically recorded. Hope to see this happen!

Are there any other restrictions to it been logged, I did a 30 minute walk, I had the summary flash across the charge hr at the end, but it hasn't synced? I agree that there should be no minimum, if you use the stopwatch function it should appear to then be edited by the user.

I have more seriously started logging activities.  But like SleepyElaine, I have properly started and stopped two activities of 30 minutes and 12 minutes,  But they just disappeared.  When I synced they did not appear in my log.  I, too, dutifully waited to see the timer started, and at the end I watched the entire procession of summary stats.  I presume that was to indicate it was saved and noted.  But, no, it did not get to the dashboard/log/activites page.

Anyone else?  This Charge HR/dashboard is unreliable.  One time or a dozen times it works.  Then for no apparent reason it just quits.  Same with heart rate.  Eleven times I recorded activities and the heart rate looked like my actual heart rate (I spot check it all the time manually).  And then, for no reason, it showed my heart beat as 175 bpm for five minutes.  My heart won't go that high even if I tried.  Screwy, irrational, unpredictable.

Have you looked for your lost activity in the Sleep logs?  If you haven't triggered enough motion it may think you were attempting to nap (presumably very poorly).  This I feel is rather a bit of a bug.  Doubly so as when it does log an activity as a Sleep Log it seems to scrub the extra heart rate data!

I want to be able to have short activities with closely monitered heart rate!

(mine never errs high when on me, mine is more prone to chopping off the peaks.)

I went for a walk, which is pretty active.  There was nothing in the sleep log.  This (activites disappearing) happens often enough I suspect it is yet another undocumented bug.

I found that if I log a long activity (~1 hour) and then a short one (less
than 5 min) and only then sync with my phone, both logs don't show up.
If I just log a long activity and then sync with my phone right when I get
home, it works.
Short activities never log since this is their configuration at the moment,
as far as I understand.

Thanks for figuring out another condition where logs are lost.  I have run into the one you describe, but I ascribed it to "too quick" syncing after finishing the log.  But their logic must be wrong when handling the prior condition of a short activity that gets erased (for whatever reason they came up with).

If someone starts and stops an activity, it should get recorded, even if it is five seconds of silence.  Let the user decide what to delete or edit.

Since the messages from this chain disappear while I am writing, I can't go back and look to see if this is the chat where they talk about a five minute minimum.  I tried some short ones and they all disappear.  Some longer ones with no activity also disappear.  And some longer ones (over 10 minutes) with activity seem to disappear if you sync immediately after stopping the session (within a five minute interval after stopping the activity.)

No minimum as all exercise is better than none

What's the hold up on this fix? It's ridiculous that there's a minimum duration for activity to log, and five minutes is way too long. With the popularity of high intensity training, this seems very foolish.
