Rowing/Stationary Rowing Machine Exercise Shortcut

Considering most of the important cardio equipment is represented in the Exercise list, I think it's more than justifiable to add a stationary rowing machine to the list. Almost every gym in America contains at least one or more Concept 2 rower as it is a total body and low impact method of Cardio. It's one of my favorites and I'm sure I am not the only user that is a bit disappointed that is not represented.

Does it take 3 years of comments to get this done?  It takes that long to get it under consideration?  I will not be buying the top of the line Fit Bit again without this feature.  I'm kinda regretting I bought the one I have...

I think the complexity is in the way we all row. I may row for 20 minutes
and clock in 4000 meters and someone else will row that long and do 6000 or
2000. The thing on my wrist can't tell how hard I'm pulling.

I've mentioned before that I use the sync feature in Concept2's logbook to
enter my rowing time and distance and it adds it to my Fitbit's exercise
portion of my Dashboard. It means entering something, but I don't have a
heart rate monitor or anything "fancy" in my model of Fitbit, so adding it
to my log (which I use every day anyway) is easy for me.

I think if you have the PM5 "display" unit on your Concept2 rower there is
a phone app that syncs the rower with the phone and that would put it into
the logbook automatically.

Using Concept2's logbook has provided me with a doable way to enter this
exercise. I have to enter my info to the Dashboard for Fitbit for
stationery bike, and some other things I do, so it works for me. I can't
speak to other rowers/rowing machines.

There is a lot of frustration out there but it is also pretty complex to
log a horizontal "pulling" exercise. (I know it is about legs, but I think
you get what I mean...) It would be great if rowing machine manufacturers
and exercise apps would meet and make it simpler.
Thanks

I’m done with this. My Blaze will sit in a drawer. I bought an Apple Watch. I won’t go back to a Fitbit.

Fitbit state Peloton is a compatible app but when I try and load it...it then states that it is not?

Anybody else having the same problem?

Thank you

I would LOVE to see a rowing machine app! I do it as part of my cardio workout and it would be really helpful to keep track of my calories burned.

Hi @Destinguy, thanks for explaining why you would like to have this option. I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has a lot of votes. As the more votes and comments an idea has the more visibility and momentum it gains. You can learn more about how Fitbit decides what suggestions get released in our FAQs.

Is it possible to develop stationary rowing as a measurable activity? Currently the watch does not pick this up.

Can we get it to auto-recognize rowing too?

This thread began THREE years ago. I recently purchased a FitBit Versa and ASSUMED that it could track rowing, basically because the specs called out 15 exercise modes ... I inaccurately assumed that one of them would be rowing. Please add a rowing exercise tracker. For me , it wouldn't have to be something that is automatically recognized ... I don't mind pressing a button .... if one exists.

Thanks.

I still have a Surge so there isn’t much I can do about adding rowing or stationary rowing (erging) but now Fitbit allows people to add clock faces and apps. They have opened their operating system to those bold enough to write a little code! Could one of us add rowing and erging to Fitbit? Maybe.........

I'm confused. Are you a Fitbit employee or another user?

If you are a user, I'm not sure why you contacted me.

If you are a Fitbit employee I'm very disappointed in your response as it
seems a bit sarcastic. The request to add rowing/ erging as an exercise
type has been on the Fitbit request list for years. I wouldn't think it
would be difficult.

I am also confused as I have made no effort whatsoever to contact you. I posted months ago re asking fitbit to add rowing machine, but have never tried to contact anyone on this forum in regard to it

Thank you for your email. It makes you wonder about the level of security
at Fitbit.

Sorry to bother you.

I couldn’t find a request for an exercise shortcut for indoor rower. I’m not an employee of Fitbit just another user. And I didn’t contact you
