Support DD/MM date format on Charge 5

The new Charge 5 only has an American date format when set to an English speaking country, despite having an English date format for many non-English speaking countries. Please change the date format for the UK to DD/MM.

I am shocked that I can't change the Continuum face to the DD/MM format. I am just setting up my Fitbit Charge and the watch/date function is really basic. Disappointed.

We're all very disappointed at the lack of response from Fitbit.

Such a fundamental issue should be easily resolved. That fact it hasn't
been raised questions as to the overall commitment Fitbit have toward their
customers (with the exception of USA ones obviously).

Any of you fitbit w****rs actually read this?

You advertise this on UK amazon. I can't replicate it on my device. (Charge 5)

I and the others want a dd/mm function.

How hard can it be? Now stop being a bunch if c***ts and get it fixed.

Thank you.

Right at there start one of the Fitbit people gave the impression it would be sorted quickly, 9 months later...nothing. I bought mine off Amazon on a Prime deal so it's going back. Clearly, the clock face in question is very popular yet Fitbit can't be arsed to do a small bit of programming and change the date to non-US format. Rather poor.

In addition there has now been a software update that is affecting the
heart monitor and therefore the sleep monitoring when my battery goes below
40%. The clowns had me go through half hour of test procedures before
admitting they knew about this issue and were working on a software fix for
it!! Another reason I’ll never buy another Fitbit.

The date BUG should have been fixed in minutes. They clearly don’t give a
f@ck about their customers.

Yes I agree Doc!!

I did tweak the nose of the mods  wee bit. Hoping to get something more than an insipid reply from a fitbit nonentity, vacuously wittering on about " go here and log your idea.."

It also seems Fitbit is now owned by Google!

Google acquired Fitbit 18 months ago, nearly 9 months before the release of
the Charge 5.

This has been mentioned before in this thread and makes the delay in
resolving the issue even more frustrating and insulting to customers.

Apologies the thread is large.

Don't apologise. It shows the level of fruatration

I appreciate there are additional technical considerations when developing for embedded devices like the Fitbit, but localisation is a solved problem. My previous devices had no trouble adapting to DD/MM format, so why is the Charge 5 any different? Companies have been getting this right for decades, and yet this very basic problem hasn't been resolved yet by Fitbit, who are owned by Google. You can't tell me they don't have the resources to fix this issue. It would take any competent developer a day, at most.

Absolutely right my friend.

One line of code if that

At last,a totally inappropriate response.

This is not a "feature request".
It is a very serious flaw and one that Fitbit/Google are unable or
unwilling to address.

Martyn

Lack of Internationalisation for Date and Time is NOT a feature request - moderator!!! It is a serious bug and should be dealt with by Fitbit developers immediately.

Agree, this is not a ‘feature request’.  It is to fix an issue which should never have got past basic testing before the Charge 5 was released.

Could not agree more. What an awful response that we’ve heard before. To add insult to injury, even their e-mail is dated in American number format. Out of courtesy alone to the Rest of the World, you would have thought they could have used the Glivally acceptable DD/MMM/YYYY. (I am being continually “gagged” by the way.)

Kind regards,

Support tried but unfortunately failed. It will hopefully be bumped up the line.

People have been supremely patient here about this fundamental issue - while basically talking into the void. Unsurprisingly, patience is starting to wear thin, resulting in the more strongly worded complaints seen in recent days. So now the moderator appears... with a stock boilerplate response to all of the complaints posted here.

I think the best description of this response is "tone deaf".

Fitbit, this is very disappointing after all of this time, and shows an abject disregard for your customers.

There is no doubt now - they couldn’t care less about the issue - well I’ll be voting with my feet next watch.

So even the fitbit advice people can't get it right!! Instructions given to me that don't work. It really is amazing. As much as I love the charge 5. Its going back to amazon.

 utter rubbish from support

As referenced by all the equally frustrated Fitbit users, this should have been escalated as a localisation bug and given it impacts the entire rest of world Fitbit population, should have been high up the list of bug fixes.

What is even worse is despite this bug, Fitbit continue to advertise the Charge 5 with an image that includes a watch face that does not exist - there is no option for a DD MMM date, if there was this would have overcome the problem.  The fact its clearly visible in all the advertising for this model makes me think the issue was recognised as a bug ages ago and was photoshopped for a more "international" image by the marketing teams.  Its outrageous this bug has not been fixed.

A note re the Techradar article linked above, that article is followed by another describing long running and unresolved power and connectivity issues with the Charge 5. Perhaps that same author might be interested in publicising the concerns raised here?

Hi Agent_X20,
Thanks for the support – pity the FitBit (Google) doesn’t action all these requests.
Cheers,
Tony
