Support Linux

PLEASE!!! We have been asking since day one that we can sync our devices through our linux systems. I can't even get my son's flex to follow our jury rigged path that synces my ultra. I'm very worried what will happen when my ultra breaks and I have to get a One...

My children bought me an Alta for Christmas and was hoping to get it going before they left for their homes.  No joy.  Aparently Galileo doesn't support the Alta.  I have tried 3 .exe's under WINE and only one of these worked, but does not have the Alta listed.

Linux is a major and growing force in the market, with its roots pre-dating MacOS and Windoze.  Accepting the lost sales by Linux uses is fair enough, but now these comments show that people giving gifts are now adversely affected by their gifts being unuseable or an inconvenience to others.

I received a Charge 2 as a gift, I was very happy, until I realized I can not use it, because I have Ubuntu installed at home. Neither mobile app, BQ Aquaris5 seems not to be compatible.

So, I vote too for the development of an Ubuntu's FitBit desktop program. Each day more and more people are using Ubuntu/Linux distros.

I add my vote: please support Linux! I organize everything from my Linux Laptop and do not like to be tied to a tablet or smartphone. Although I currently help myself out with an old tablet, that device will not be replaced once it breaks. Linux is my goal - help me get there.

Add my vote for Linux support.  I was able to get Galileo running and am thankful to those who built the Galileo workaround but would like official support for Linux.

I use Linux Mint, 17.3 and 18.2, I am unable to sync my new Blaze with Galileo. I am another user that would like the Fitbit team to support Linux.

Old comments like "We are looking into it" only alienate Linux users, it looks like you are just giving us lip service.

The support for Linux has been a request since ‎December 14th, 2013. It would be nice to have some resolution here. There are many people who are moving to a Linux-based operating systems (W3 Schools has some statistics on their site).

The Linux community, being what it is, has created a helpful tool, but these community-driven projects often lag behind the release of new hardware, software, and firmware. So those Linux users, like myself, who are interested in new devices such as the Fitbit Ionic are either forced to wait until the community catches up, or, if they have the skills to do so, hack at it until it works.

This paradigm is simply unacceptable for a company from which people expect a plug-and-play experience. Please invest some time and effort to making the Fitbit app fully cross-platform.

Please add linux support to your products - it will put you ahead of other tracker manufacturers. I notice that there are more and more cheaper lookalike trackers available now - this would be a way to distinguish yourselves by your quality.

And I would much rather be able to sync my Fitbit from my Linux machine than from my Android device, as I frequently have to first find it, then boot it up solely to sync my Fitbit, which is tedious. I am currently trying with Galileo, but it's not working for me so far.

Please add support for Linux. Galileo works for me, but is unofficial, I can't update the firmware of my Fitbit Flex from there.

Please, we are in 2017 and still no support for Linux?

I'd also like to ask for Linux support for the Sync software. The open-source galileo script unfortunately does not support the Fitbit IONIC watch.

Fitbit Connect also does not work well under WINE (https://www.winehq.org/search?q=fitbit).

Either release Linux binaries for Fitbit Connect or allow us to transfer songs to the IONIC with the Smartphone app please!!

Fitbit Connect application should be for Linux platform as well, not only Windows and MacOs. 

For example, as a Linux user I cannot transfer music to my IONIC watch.

+1 for Linux support. Galileo does not support the newer models, so there is currently no solution for Linux that I am aware of.

Fitbits are 'pretty cool', my Charge 2 is 'rather good'.  If however, there was a Linux app I would upgrade my opinion to 'frickin brilliant'.

I plan on moving from Windows to Linux in the near future and would like to be able to sync my surge from the Linux platform.  I do not have or need a smart phone so this is the only option.  All help on your side to get this accomplished would be appreciated.

Well I have given up on fitbit. Because if you don't have a smartphone to sync and you don't use windows your in the s**t. That's it really. Fitbit are concentrating there energy on improving there products, that just fall a part after two years of use. Thank's a lot fitbit.

Fitbit supports Linux in so many other platforms, IOS, Android, and  tablets why can't they support it on the PC.  I can not complain about their customer support.  They have replace my Surge 4 times. I applaud them for that.

Another vote for Linux here. I use a Linux desktop as my primary system and would really appreciate being able to sync. The open source hack (galileo) doesn't work with the new models and I don't entirely trust it not to break the product anyway. Even a very rudimentary Linux sync ability without full UI would be greatly appreciated by the community.

Keep the requests coming. I just heard about a group that is trying to
port Android to the X86 platform. Though it would not help a lot since I
would have to reboot to come up in Android just like I have to reboot to
come up in windows. I guess the next thing would be to learn how to run a
Virtual Machine in Mint running windows. Anyone that know how please let
me know.

@Ron R. Running Windows in a Virtual Machine within Linux is very easy, tutorials are all over the internet. I have done it in the past without problems.

Whether the Bluetooth syncing would work perfectly from within the VM is another question, maybe someone who has tested this can answer that question. And you need of course a Windows license.

It is important to include the every-growing community of Linux users. My wife and I both use Fitbits for my wife's wellness program at work but we only have one smartphone (my wife doesn't want to get a smartphone). I am a software developer by trade and use Linux-based operating systems for work. I prefer them over the expensive Windows and Apple alternatives as do many others.

Though there are solutions available from the community (see https://bitbucket.org/benallard/galileo/), the community cannot possibly keep up with all the newest hardware that is released (as shown by the fact that the support for some trackers that have been out for a while is still "experimental"). This creates spotty performance for these users and decreases general satisfaction with your product.

I haven't run windoze in 5 years.  All my computers run one form of Ubuntu or another.  Got a fitbit for Christmas, and am really disappointed that it doesn't have a Linux interface.  Have a smart phone, but apps suck, they just waste your phones memory & battery.  Would much rather just sync once or twice a day from my desktop. 

I will not be buying anything from fitbit until there is a Linux interface.  This thing dies it is going in the trash.  Run out of space on my phone, this thing will get stuck on ebay.  Lived without it for this long, can live without it again..

Like the product, just can't believe there has been a request for a Linux Interface for the life of this thread and has been ignored by fitbit, not very smart business.
