Sync without dongle for PC

I've long since lost the sync dongle for syncing my fitbit flex with my PC. Rather than having to get a brand new dongle, I'd love to see a feature to sync over my laptop's built in bluetooth. My laptop is bluetooth 4.0 supported so I don't see why I need a superfluous dongle!

A Windows 8.1 laptop that has bluetooth on it, and uses the Fitbit App should not need a dongle to sync.  It should sync through the bluetooth just like your phone so that you do not need to waste your usb plugs with a dongle.  What is the point using a dongle if you have bluetooth?

I totally agree. I have a Windows 8.1 tablet and I am not able to update my data. The problem is there is no ModernUI app on tablet. I hope you will make one soon.

I also agree! My Fitbit is smarter than my smart phone and will not sync to my android. I have many co-workers that also have Fitbits and I ended up taking my doggle to work so I could sync there but I would also like to be able to update at home especially on weekends. I have a brand new bluetooth enabled 8.1 laptop at home that cannot sync either unless I remember to bring my doggle back and forth everyday, Woman Frustrated

There are plenty of modern Windows-based devices that natively support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).   If I enumerate BLE devices from my Windows 8.1 tablet (a Lenovo Yoga), I can see my One - but I still have to sacrifice one of my two USB ports if I want to sync - this is silly.  Please support native BLE hardware on Windows platforms.  Users of Surface, Yoga and other ultralights can't afford to waste precious USB ports on the fitbit dongle.

This is true for any computer with built in Bluetooth or indeed any bluetooth adaptor - surely it doesn't have to be the fitbit dongle??

I have the dongle sent with the Fitbit Flex, but it itsn't easy to remove from the USB port on my Dell duo once the sync is finished.

I can sync the Fitbit Flex with the iPhone 4s built in bluetooth.

I should be able to sync with my PC's built in bluetooth.

I have many other bluetooth capable devices that pair with both my PC's buit in bluetooth.

The Fitbit Flex is the only one that will not. ? ? ?

I think it's a great idea. I would also like to mention Asus tablets where Blue Tooth sync support would be greatly appreciated. I think my tablet is the T101 (Android).

I agree. Both my Lenovo & Asus laptops have built-in Bluetooth, yet I still must leave the dongle plugged in. (In fairness, the Asus is a Chromebook, so it can't work unti/unless Fitbit develops an app for Chrome OS, so it's irrelevant in this post.) But the iPhone 5C & iPad mini synch easily from their built-n Bluetooth.

As does my Samsung Galaxy S5, which appears to have the same bluetooth band
as my phone!

i think many of you are confused. conor95 is talking about the fitbit app for W8.x. the W8.x has a modern ui app that works with the dongle now. many new W8.x pc, laptops, tablets, hybrids such as surface pro have bluetooth 4.0. built in but the app isn't using it . bt4.0 is used by some smartphones and is required by fitbit with these apps. my surface pro bt sees my fitbit, just cant sync without dongle until fitbit adds this connection to existing app. it would seem to be a simple thing for an accomplished programmer.

I have a Surface pro 3 and it only has one USB port. So I have to plug it in and take it out every time I need to use another USB device. The Surface has BT 4 why not support it?

So many new laptops and convertible have only one or two ports now so leaving in a dongle is not a practical option.

I'm not certain why the "dongle" at all. It fits poorly. It's easy to dislodge. Repeated dislodging disrupts the syncing function. I suggest on future models you go back to the tried and true, snug-fitting micro USB please.

This now works with the Windows 10 Fitbit App.  No need for a dongle with the built in bluetooth adapter.

Yes Windows 10 Fitbit app works with devices with Bluetooth 4.0 now. The app is laid out better. Needs a few tweaks. It also works with Cortana. it appears the  time since last sync is fixed. Thanks FitBit. btw FitBit has the best support I've ever seen.

Many of the older laptops do not have Bluetooth Low Energy this is needed to talk to the Fitbit Tracker

Despite recently upgrading my laptop from Windows 7 to 10, Fitbit One still needs its dongle.

@Conor95This feature is currently available for the Windows 10 Fitbit App! If your computer supports Bluetooth 4.0 BLE, it can directly sync using the PC/tablet's Bluetooth hardware instead of requiring use of the sync dongle. Click here for more details.

Thanks for posting on the Feature Request Board, see you around! Woman Wink

As soon as I upgraded my Surface Pro to Windows 10 on day one and upgraded Fitbit app everything worked smoothly with Bluetooth built into my pro.
