Please let the users know when cycling will be avaliable. If not my fitbit will be returned very soon. I can't believe this was a part of your advertisement and it's not even avaliable! Very disappointing. Had a realized this I would not have purchased.
I was about to buy a Surge, since the specs look perfect. I've often wondered why My FitBit One could not be used to track my Cycling, and have voted for a cycling functionality to be added on more than one occasion. However, this lack of Cycling functionality has put the dampeners on my drive to purchase a Surge.
I would venture to say that most people do NOT want to have to use multiple devices, and multiple Apps to help manage their Fitness regime, they prefer everything from one source.
You appear to move very slowly, which sometimes can be a good thing, but on this particular issue, will lose you customers.
I've been using fitbit for almost a year- stared with One and upgraded to Surge- and I love it and have told everyone I know about it. Just stayed cycling and am SO UPSET fitbit doesn't accurately cover this! At the very least have a way for a Garmin (or other cycling app) tie-in until they've put together a cycle update. The best thing about fitbit has been that it covers all my fitness needs- I really don't want to have to use 2 apps and manually enter info.....
Tracking my cycling with the GPS is the one feature I'm missing the most from the Surge. In fact, I've been considering returning the device until Fitbit gets this figured out.
I thought I would be able to track cycling similar to my Garmin.
Fitbit: this is your chance to be the only device on the market that can track all activities with GPS when it makes sense, sleep, and HR without the strap. I realize you won't be able to incorporate every imaginable activity but at least the custom activity should have the flexibility to use GPS.
And by the way, when you add cycling (because I'm confident you will) please ensure speed, distance, and HR can all be displayed/tracked. My Garmin 310XT has a plethora of data points it can track/display. I'm not asking Fitbit to match those but I need the cycling!
I would like to add another vote for including cycling measurement on the Surge. I have used my ONE successfully with biking. However while the Surge utilizes the altimeter and GPS to measure distance and steps while hiking, it is not sensitive to pedal motion while cycling and thus significantly under-measures both distance and 'floors' while cycling, a problem that the ONE does NOT have. Comparing the ONE vs the Surge, the Surge sees only about 1% of the floors and steps seen by the ONE. However the GPS does show the track but only at the few points where I presume that a bounce on the bike registered as a step. Your hike/walk modes are fine for biking assuming that the Surge sensivity is sufficient to respond to pedal strokes. Since I am only able to register a single FITBIT device I do not have the ability to utilize the advanges of both the ONE and the Surge.
Cycling is one of the largest growing sports in the UK and we need a cycling option. Even the cheapest £25 bike computer can record the GPS, track your heart and estimate calories consumed.
I'm hoping that the Surge, a state of the art, new device should be able to achieve this requirement.
Come on Fitbit developers.. devlop and I will buy you a pint or two!!!
YES!!! Please please please make cycling a priority!!!
I just returned my vivofit after parting with my force due to the recall. I couldn't stand it and ordered the surge but now I see the vivoactive and despite their lacking UI it has a cycling mode and now I'm not sure if I should just wait for that. Please Fitbit! I want to use your products more than anyone else's.
Adding bicycle tracking might tip the scales for a lot of bicycle enthusiasts that want to ditch the phone (or at least pack it away) on the ride. Not to say that bicyclists are "loaded" but if you look at the cost of bikes, accessories and clothing...these are folks that would buy the surge if it had good bicycling support.
From my perspective, the ability to disregard steps and just track distance, time, elevation +/-, and heartrate would be all I need. I don't have a good experience base with my Surge yet so I'm hoping I will get what I want through my linked MayMyRide account.
Please add a cycling/spinning feature on the Surge HR - if not I will be returning mine as I burn alot of calories and want to be able to log these. . .if not I can put this $150 to other good use. Please see all the comments noted for this
I use the run mode when biking just tiki see the map. Ask other stats are worthless. U have the gps. Please get the app ready. I want to see what I see in map my ride app for ios. Thanks

Be glad to beta test!!!!
I'm enjoying the Surge, but come spring, I need a mode to capture GPS and heartrate (and preferrably stop the step counting) for cycling. I will probably return my device unless there is a solution in hand (or definitely promised with a rough timetable) before the 45 days are up.
Please add cycling! Cycling is an integral part of my fitness routine and I purchased the Surge thinking it would track my cycling, P90X, tennis, and my hiking activities. **I am an android user!
Another vote for cycling. As a mountain biker & Surge owner, being able to review HR against location on the trail would be hugely helpful for my training and race preparation. It would tell me where in a course I can push harder and where I need to focus more on recovery.
Because I have rheumatoid arthritis (already had a knee replacement, need the other side done, and have repeated rotator cuff surgeries), I am restricted to yoga, resistance bands and cycling. As we 'Macho' baby boomers continue to age, more of us won't be able to run. Please build cycling tracking into all future product features and upgrades. It would also be prudent to make your products waterproof to accommodate those who must severely restrict weight bearing activities. Respectfully, S
