Tracking Exercise: Horseback Riding - Horse Riding - Equestrian

I know it's perhaps not the most common exercise, but common enough and it's incredibly difficult to gauge what kind of calory burn and value this kind of exercise has, because - well the horse does most of the work! There is a huge difference in riding styles and how this effects my own exercise level: trail riding can be just walking - where the rider has little exercise, but if you trot it's quite the exercise for the rider too. Then there is the distance aspect, which is invalid when you do dressage or arena riding... Finally jumping has quite a different impact again.

Since I work for a digital agency, I know that you must have business logic to build out expensive new features both for the sensors, the logic/algorithm and how you present it on the web. I know it's a huge effort. But with an equestrian tracker, you will have a captive audience and a weathy niche market who will be loyal customers. You'll need to do little marketing as this is definitely an industry/audience who are all interconnected and exchange ideas, infos and new products readily.

And if you want to go all out, you could combine it with a FitBit for the horse - because most horse owners also want to monitor the stress on their horse as well as their horses' fitness.

Hi There,

Any chance of other activities to be added, as walking to only one i do of your option.. could you add Horse Riding, aerobic exercise, etc .

Or even some activity close to horse riding.. treadmills is similar to walking or running pending on the ranges u use..

Thanks

I think that horseback riding should be able to be tracked in the exercise setting because it is just as much a sport as anything else and there are some things that the Fitbit tracks that I can never imagine using.

My main sport is horse riding and have been frustrated by the limitations of the fitbit options..and know many others are too, so wanted to raise awareness of a really useful app, Equilab which has been designed specifically or equestrian sports.

Just perfect and hopefully fitbit will catch up in time although the request has been on the forum since 2015!

There is a major need to add horseback riding as an exercise and have it available as an Exercise Shortcut on watch devices. This would be the quickest way to access for riders to log a riding activity event. Many riders do not want to count their horses steps as there own and then have to remember to remove their device, which defeats the purpose of owning any fitbit product. Also this would help with safety as with some smart devices you can send messages from, if a rider falls and is injured they would have their watch there to send a text, which they could customize a message to send.

Since 2 weeks I'm using the new fitbit Charge 4. Very happy with this device. However, I would like to use the activity tracker for horseriding. Currently, this is not available. Do you also think this would be a great idea?

Hello. I rally emjoy my fitbit versa, but I miss some exersices that is more common. I think there's a lot more man and women who regulary ride horses than doing Marshall arts for an example. Mabye you can add horseback riding as an exsersice in the next version or update? I know i gave an old version, but soon I'll get a new one, and I hope this exsersice is one of the options .

Best regards, Janne, Norway

Add horse riding as an exercise as my hack today came up as a “brisk walk”. There’s golf on there as an “exercise” yet no horse riding. It usually comes up as a workout but for some reason on my new versa 3, it’s changed to a brisk walk. Trotting and cantering a horse is not a “brisk walk”, burn about 3 times more calories then that!!

The number of exercise types available to start and stop as part of the exercise app on the sense 2 is limited. It would be good to have some more options included, particularly horse riding.

Exactly like the bike riding option for example. Track route, distance, zone minutes, but for when riding a horse.
