Trade in/Upgrade Program

I've been a fitbit user for a little over a year now, receiving one as a gift last Christmas. Now seeing how my flex is so behind the times, I would like to upgrade to one of the HR ones. However, spending another 130-150 is very difficult. Wanting Fitbit to offer an upgrade or trade in program to allow for this to be more affordable.

Yes... I feel your pain. FB is simply ignoring their own blog, and
additionally adding a new item to further complicate this situation. Guess
an offshore company doesn't listen to American requests. So this is
business as usual for this EU community ???? No wonder the UK has elected
to bail out of these business practices.

YES!!!!  A trade-in program would be great!  I cannot justify spending $150+ when the product I have still works, but I would like to upgrade to newer features. Please start a trade-in program, obviously there are MANY users who would like this feature!

I'm so glad the company provides a way for its customers to voice their opinions and suggestions and allow the community to vote. This particular suggestion is obviously popular. Like minds everyone!!!! Woman Happy It would be wonderful if Fitbit would implement this program. I have been a longtime Fitbit customer, going back to the first products offered. I currently have the Surge and would love to upgrade to the Iconic. However, because my Surge is still functional, I can't justify spending upward of $250 to upgrade and I don't need two fitness trackers/smartwatches.

So Fitbit...if you truly are reading these posts and seriously take your customers' suggestions into consideration, please consider moving this suggestion to the top of the list. I'm sure I speak for all of your loyal customers when I say, we truly appreciate the innovative, high quality products you produce. Keep up the awesome work!

Sincerely,

Well said. Although I'm starting to think Fitbit doesn't read or care about the forum...

I have been handing down my trackers to my family (and it helps them!) when
I receive a new tracker; right now I want them to sync on the same
account...I don't only want one!

I really do wish they would come up with something to trade in.  They keep coming out with great new products, but I can't justify buying a new one until this one is all the way broken.  A refurb trade in program would be great.

I entirely agree, and in the same boat you're in.

Wouldn't it be great if we could keep up with the best of the best of Fitbit? Sometimes this isn't financially available. I suggest a program where Fitbit provides a discount to loyal Fitbit enthusiast who meet a reasonable goal set by Fitbit and have owned their Fitbit for a certain amount of time then maybe they will allow for a discounted trade-in for a newer version Fitbit.

My Fitbit works great and the only thing wrong with it is the brightness on the display doesn’t seem that should be the user/owners issue but instead something that Fitbit should be responsible for. You should consider a trade in program it would ensure happy and continued customers. Thanks

Since the GPS functionality has ceased to work since more than a month ago, and there is no "fix in the immediate future" according to Fitbit customer service, I think there should be an exchange program, so I can get it replaced with another Fitbit model that works, or at least be able to return it and get my money back so I can buy a model that works.
It does not feel good to have product where some of the important features is not working and just hope that it will be resolved - I mean there is no reason to send it for repair/check up, since Fitibit themselves don´t have a solution yet. If a product does not work as described by the selling company, it is faulty and in many countries that is grounds for replacement, money returned or an exchange for a product that works.

I know I am not alone in having the faulty GPS connectivity, so I guess there is a lot of angry owners out there ... Mine is just over 4 months old, so it is a pity.
My personal view is that it should not ne necessary with an exchange program; the customer service should be able to make an exchange anyways.

It's a different version of the same story for me and my Charge 3. The
altimeter that is supposed to measure floors climbed seems to report random
numbers. Customer Support insists it must be something "geological" and
not a faulty product. They replaced it once with the same result. Then
they offered me a refund in exchange for my original Charge 3 and the
replacement. Funny thing is, I don't care about floors climbed! The
altimeter clearly doesn't work and all I want them to do is give us an
"off" switch so I can avoid the faulty data.

If you are having GPS problems then please ask for help in the Charge 2 forum or the forum for your Fitbit app. Fitbit has not disabled this feature and if it worked in the past it should still work.

@BobStein3. make sure there isn't any contanamation in the barometer hole.

As for as the technology. Yes in a way it is flawed since it uses air pressure. And 10 feet is about the weight of a 3 square inch of paper.

air currents can easily change this much pressure. Even walking past a fan or air duct.

Airplanes have this same issue and there Alek meters need to be calibrated several times dieting a single trip. As for GPS and altitude. This is so unreliable in a moving vehicle that Gps for altitude can not be used as their main means.

An exchange program has already been suggested and waiting for votes.

Hi again,

Sorry that I was a bit unclear - my problem is not with the barometer and the measurement of stairs climbed. The problem is the GPS tracking. I don't get any tracks on the map or just get an absolutely straight line between the start and end point. So I won't get an accurate distance reading and can't see where I have walked or been cykling.

Unfortunately I don't think it is useful to post this issue in the forum for Charge 2, since Fitbits support team has acknoledged that there is an issue with the GPS tracking, and that they don't even know when it will be solved ...

I only posted this after a support agent recommended this, I am very well aware of the fact that there is no solution to this (according to Fitbits support), at least not in the near future.

So I was hoping that Fitbit might replace my Charge 2, since I just bought it a few months ago, with a working model. But to do that, they seems to have to get backup/support for an exchange program ...

Obviously they are not able to help individual customers.

A trade-in option would be fantastic. I currently have a charge 3 that's been such a hunk of junk since I got it, I think I'm on either the 3rd or 4th warranty replacement and it's not even a year old. Honestly I would settle for like a 25% discount on a different tracker but apparently Fitbit doesn't offer any discounts until your tracker is past it's warranty.... Which is mind blowing that they would rather continually send me replacements as opposed to giving me a discount on a different model, a DISCOUNT, I'm not asking for anything for free, but I'm pretty fed up with this Charge 3, to the point in going to start looking at different brands. I don't have an issue paying full price to keep up with the latest and greatest, my issue is that they won't help me get into a tracker that actually functions properly for more than a month or two.

It's been 4.5 years since this idea came up but I dont think there was any progress on this? Is Fitbit an environmentally friendly company? What am I to do with my Charge HR, Charge 2 HR, Alta? I was thinking of upgrading to Versa or Ionic but it's just too **ahem** expensive so a trade-in would have really helped. Even though I might not get much in return, this programme would have helped convince myself that returning my product to Fitbit would somehow create less environmental impact and help Fitbit to save some money as well.

I completely agree. I would love an upgrade program. Just as time goes on the technology gets greater and life also gets more expensive so paying fill price for a new one is not in the cards. It would be great it we could send in ours and put that towards the new one.

I have had my Fitbit surge for 3 years now and have absolutely loved it! My husbands surge is starting to break, the screen has a bunch of little cracks in it so we’re thinking of upgrading him to the ionic. I think a trade in program would be incentivizing for customers to stay within Fitbits family. Even a small trade in for 25% would be worth it and very helpful to want to buy the next 200$ watch!

It is frustrating to know that Fitbit does not have an upgrade/ trade-in program for people who have bought different versions on watches, being a loyal customer. Total, I have purchased 4 different watches: Charge, Alta, Charge 3, and Blaze. Speaking with an employee, I found out there is no upgrade availability or anything. Even if you gave a customer 5% off, at least you will make them feel like their purchases are important. Apple does have a trade in program and I will be taking my purchases there from now on, seeing as with Fitbit, my purchases do not matter. If Fitbit would like to keep customers coming back, I suggest to create a trade in/ upgrade program.

It would be nice if Fitbit did trade ins and gave some money for a new tracker I’ve been a Fitbit costumer for a really long time.
