Trade in/Upgrade Program

I've been a fitbit user for a little over a year now, receiving one as a gift last Christmas. Now seeing how my flex is so behind the times, I would like to upgrade to one of the HR ones. However, spending another 130-150 is very difficult. Wanting Fitbit to offer an upgrade or trade in program to allow for this to be more affordable.

FitBit could offer a trade in program for old unit users - in whatever trade in price it makes sense for them. As long as they are not giving below base cost, it is a win win - FB has more sales and customers enjoy new device. It is a no brained from a marketing aspect - I think.

Hello, We own two Fitbit Chargers and we wanted to buy new Fitbit trackers. We don't want to buy new products as the existing once works absolutely fine. It would be a win win situation if you can introduce trade in program to return old products and get a discount on the new products.

Thanks,

Sam

contacted fitbit support today to ask about a trade-in program. It is hard to believe that as long as fitbit has been around, they haven't created this yet.

Fitbit - I hope you implement this very, very soon!

Totally agreed - receiving emails titled "Upgrade Now!" without some type of exchange or trade in program is very difficult on the wallet and not everyone has someone they can upcycle their current fitbit to... I would be much more inclined to upgrade if there was a discount for current working equipment!

I'm constantly surprised that companies don't treat their customers better.  I registered my 3 fibits when I bought them a couple of years ago (one for me, two for family members).  I didn't find out the Fitbit HR was discontinued until today, when I called Fitbit to ask if there was a replacement clasp . . . the little 5 cent fastener broke.  They basically offered no help.  You'd think, at a minimum, I would have received ONE email telling me it was being discontinued . . . . . among the many from fitbit about new products and my weekly progress.  An upgrade/exchange program would help keep me in the Fitbit family.  At least some information.  I've since found a 10 pack of the little fasteners on Amazon for $3-5 . . . you'd think Fitbit would either sell them; or maybe just ship one out gratis for a loyal customer.

Wow! That is no good on their part . Did you try contacting someone else to let them know what happened to you . Sorry that happened. Yes it would be awesome if they did do it

My contacts with Fitbit have never left me feeling like customer service is their strong suit . . . . .

wouldn't it be nice to have some  sort of Trade up program so for those of us who bought MULTIPLE ALTA's for Christmas presents to spouse and children can upgrade without so much PAIN in having the ones you bought be OUTDATED before the wristband even has a chance to wear? - Feeling stiffed.

I definitely switched to Fitbit about a year ago with the Alta and now I'm interested in the Alta HR.  It upsets me that there is no trade in for returning customers like other companies, there is no reward for being a return buyer!  Bad business if you ask me!

I'm also interested in FitBit starting a trade in program for customers! I bought an Alta not too long ago because of how slim it was (I am tiny and the Charge HR seemed too big!), but now I see they have the Alta HR which would be awesome to have! However, like most people here I cannot afford to drop all that money every time something new/better/updated happens. It would be cool to have the option of a trade in feature, and perhaps for those FitBits returned in excellent condition, they can sell "certified refurbished" for those who can't afford brand new or like to buy refurbished items.

That is an awesome idea!!!!

Even if they gave us $50 for the trade in I would be happy! I would be happy with anything. Apple does 10% whether the device is working or not! They could take from that!

I had the flex as a started and I loved it! So the Christmas after, my family upgraded me to the charge HR. Sadly it is now falling apart and the updated versions do so much more. I really wish there was a trade in program or a reward system for longtime users so I could upgrade without feeling too wasteful.

Fitbit has great fitness trackers and always coming out with new ones. But I'm disappointed that there isn't a trade in or exchange program, especially if the company is constantly upgrading their merchandise. Its a bad business tactic that's sure to lose longtime customers as myself, with the constantly competing fitness trackers I'm tempted to leave Fitbit and go on with another fitness band company since Fitbit obviously doesn't have the customers' best interest. For example, I got a Michael Kors fitness band and was able to trade in for another with no difficulty. But Michael Kors is better with design than overall quality. But if these companies continue to improve, Fitbit will be in much more competition and lose consumers such as myself. Especially since everyone I know who has a Fitbit complains of not being able to trade in or exchange for an upgrade.

Stepping Up

Hi There,

I submitted a suggestion to Fitbit Support and got directed to post it here (Charge HR - Other - iOS (#17834980)).

I have been a Fitbit User since 2013. I currently own a Fitbit Flex and a Charge HR. I am currently using the Charge HR. With all the new models produced by Fitbit it's highly tempting to upgrade but that means the other two will become redundant just add on to the clutter in the house. In light of trying to achieve eco-friendly environment it will be beneficial to have a program to return with a credit to upgrade to a new model. That will be a good incentive. I know retailers like Levis, collect old jeans and provide a discount to buy a new pair. Hopefully, Fitbit can come up with such a program.

Let me know your feedback. Thank You.

I would like a trade in program as I have the Alta because of the size and is not happy with the tracker as it tracks every movement even when sitting. I would like to try the Alta HR as it seems to do a better job at really tracking steps and not just any movement.

I don't know about that I have the HR and counts like me clapping my hands I don't think any of them are as accurate

So people have been asking for a trade in program since 2014, Wow! I only saw a moderator response on 10-28-2015.

When will Fitbit start a trade in????

I had a flex and when the Alta came out I wanted to upgrade but there was no trade in program so I gave it to a friend and paid for the Alta because I wanted the features it had.  It's been less than a year and they came out with the Alta HR.  If I had known it was coming I would have held off.  Now I have an Alta in great condition and no upgrade program so I can get the HR.  They definitely need to come out with one, it seems like a lot of people feel the same way.

They really do need to come up with a trade in program since people have
been asking since 2014!

My wife and I both got Fitbit Charge HRs last year. We had older Fitbit versions before that. We would have loved to have the newer narrower HRs and would love a trade up policy!

I have had my fit bit for 2 years and really want to upgrade to the alta however after chatting with a fit bit rep there is currently no upgrade program available. I am not in the position to spend the entire amount for a new one but would definitely trade in my flex towards a newer alta. Is this something fit bit will be starting soon? Something similar to trade in programs that cell phone carriers have.
