Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

So the moderators can change the title but not provide a response. Not customer oriented at all !!

I find that so interesting I had decided there was no moderator on this site. I have posted this problem many times but wondered if anyone from Fitbit was listening.

It is unfathomable to me that every night I have to manually turn off quick view and notifications, and then every morning I must turn them back on again. Why am I doing four manual actions when all of these should be handled with the touch of a button. Please implement a sleep button that notifies everything that I've gone to sleep, and turns off quick view, and then when I hit it again, it turns both options back on, telling my app that I'm awake again.

This option should be available as the first option when you hold down the top button, taking the place of "turn off all notifications". And you should have a swipe here, so that you can also turn off notifications in the same interface (just swiping left to bring this up). So, when you hold the top button, the same menu comes up, but instead of turn off all notifications, just have a sleep "on/off" function, and then you can swipe left, and then "turn off all notificatoins" option is there.

please.

I probably should have specified that this should be for the Blaze, but I'm sure other devices would benefit from this option as well.

The answer appears to be no, no one from Fitbit is really listening. These forums are the equivalent of the thermostat on the wall in a modern office building. They don't really do anything, but the make you feel better because you think you have some input.

Lol. I love the analogy. At least we get a chuckle out of it!

@DK3 and @SunsetRunner, the problem is only one tracker has a sleep mode, and the others don't know your asleep u til after the first sync in the morning after you have woken up. Auto disable during sleep will not work.

If the tracker itself cannot recognize when we are sleeping: this brings us back to the scheduling option for the quick view feature. This is purely app-driven...

Support this request. Love Quick View, but not at night when sleeping. Hope you can accommodate this request.

I completely agree.  Charge 2 needs the ability to dim the screen at night.  It is VERY bright in a dark room.

I completely agree.  Charge 2 needs the option/ability to dim the screen at night and not turn on automatically when I move my arm.  It is VERY bright in a dark room.

100% in agreement with this--I have to have the feature turned off as I move a lot in my sleep and it looks like there's a disco going on!

The ability to schedule on/off times for it would be perfect.

Hi FitBit,

Personally I find the Quick View function very useful but am forced to leave it off since it tends to wake up my girlfriend and I in the middle of the night. With a Quick View Sleep Mode, there could be an adjustable time-frame that can be set for the Quick View functionality to be disabled during 'Sleep Mode', say 10:00pm - 6:00am for me. During this Sleep Mode, the display screen won't turn on unless button is pressed and when it is pressed it is much dimmer than when the Charge 2 is not in Sleep Mode. This will prevent the light from turning on unintentionally while people shift and digit during sleep.  FitBit, please make this happen!

Thanks,

SteveG

I really like the quick view feature, but as a parent it becomes a problem when the light turns on in the child's face every now and then. I would prefer a simple schedule option allowing me to enter during which time of day the feature should be active, but as DarkMoon says - a switch on the tracker itself would work too.

Since it appears that Fitbit doesn't moderate their forums, I decided to email them saying I had already disabled quickview (even though I didn't want to) and I'm still blinded at night or in the movie theater. Below is the response I received -- I replied asking them to please look into this more and that they need to see this posting...

"We appreciate you bringing this to us and thank you for your suggestion.

We're constantly striving to improve Fitbit products and services, and we very much appreciate all of the input we receive from our customers. Since you found that a suggestion has already been made by another member of the community, you can vote for their idea and add your comments. Our product team looks forward to reading and incorporating your suggestions into future versions of Fitbit trackers and apps.

And good to know information that by changing your clock's display or clock face, you are also changing the intensity of the display's brightness based on the design you've chosen. Charge 2 offers several designs for the clock screen. To see your options, open the Fitbit app and tap or click the Account icon (User-added image) > Charge 2 > Clock Face. If you change the clock face, sync your tracker to see the change.

We thank you for being a valued member of the Fitbit family. Let us know if you have any questions or other suggestions.

Sincerely,

Wella Rose D. and the Fitbit Team"

Thanks for posting that Casper2z. That's a pretty poor response. It would be nice to know if they are actually working on a fix for this.

I'm still trying to work out what triggers the blinding night light. I think it sometimes goes off when the sensor is lifted of the skin e.g. when I roll over.

Hope they fix this soon, though I'm not holding my breath.

YES!!! I'd love this feature. I get woken up so easily and this would mean I don't have to wake up if I've fallen asleep earlier than planned without syncing.

Quick view is great during the day, but at night the screen continually comes on and wakes me up.  You need to have a feature to disable quick view while sleeping. Also it would be good to have a general silent mode where I could turn off quick view while at the movies or other events where the bright screen would be disruptive.

Everything here has been said. Many times.

The last firmware update was months ago, while bugs in the app got fixed straight away.

I posted this in the german suggestion board a while ago, where no-one from FitBit seems to care that this is the #1 request.

Now I see that it's the same thing here.

My e-mails were answered fast, but also very poorly, as stated above.

I'm not wearing my Charge 2 at night anymore, because even with quick view disabled, it keeps turning on when my movements are detected as double-tab gesture, keeping me and my wife awake at night. It's a shame, really.

Suggestion for the next Charge 2 update: "sleep mode" for Quick View. Sometimes when I roll over at night my Charge 2 lights up, waking my husband and/or me. In a dark room, the screen is shockingly bright. It would be nice to set a block of time that the screen would be very dim or not turn on at all.

Thanks for the note. Yes, it would be nice to have the option for an configurable "do not disturb (DND) period" feature so that the screen does not light up at night. An explicit press of the button can be used to activate the display during the DND period. I will check the suggested link and vote on the feature request. Thanks.

Just received a my charge 2 and had an absolutely horrendous night with this bright screen turning on randomly (quick view off). I'm definitely on board with a dimmer for the tracker. Not just an auto dimmer during sleep hours because as is going to the movies or any dark place for entertainment could possibly be a nightmare. So another vote for dimmer settings.

Once the user configures the sleep schedule, the developers should program the Charge 2 to not display during that period of time unless the user presses the button. The display is very bright in a dark room and with it coming on when a person moves around, the fitbit can be disruptive to a person's sleep pattern.

My husband suffers with Epilepsy at night and the brightness of my Charge 2 is disturbing his sleep as it keeps lighting up the room and shining in his eyes when he is trying to sleep!  Really worried it will trigger a seizure that I'm gonna have to stop wearing it at night which is a shame.
