Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

Hi Fitbit! Firstly let me start by saying I've had a fitbit on my wrist for 2.5 years, I love them. One thing I would love to see - a timer/ sleep option for the quick view. I'd love to be able to set it not to come on during the hours I sleep as when it does come on and it's pitch dark it seems very bright and wakes me! If I needed to check the time if I woke I'd just press the button.

Thanks for reading 🙂

A suggestion for implementation would be to add an option to the sleep configuration to turn off Quick View during "Target Sleep Schedule".

Exactly JDW62.  It seems like it would be  such a simple solution.

Ionic has the ability to disable auto screen wake, but it would be much more convenient if there was an automated feature to do this.  It could be as simple as having a different behavior during user selected nighttime hours.  For example it could automatically switch to tap to wake at night.  It could also be smarter or more elaborate attempting to automatically detect times when it should not turn on like when it is dark and movement is sporadic or more typical of sleep.

Definitely! Used my new Charge 2 last night for the first time. Very cool, but YES please add sleepy time quick view disable.

Completely agree.

Seems like quite the oversight to be honest.  Apparently they did incorporate this in one of their more recent watches...

so the hope is that

1. someone at Fitbit reads these threads.

2. they care enough to pass it on

3. who they pass it on cares enough to put it on the docket

4. the programmer figures out how to incorporate it in to every other watch.

the good news is this request pops up often and one looks to have a LOT of votes... so again. hopefully pay attention here and don't use this space like apple uses there forums. (not at all).

New software update out, still nothing!  All you need to do is add a Quickview switch into the “target sleep schedule”.  I cannot believe how long this thread has been ignored for!!!

Please dont suffer.

Given the Life cycle of the product that will be substituted soon, if they have done nothing yet, they will never do.

Just take this into consideration to buy anything else from fitbit ever. I do recall this everynight when battery is low and fitbit light wakes me and my wife up 5 times per night.

Fitbit never more, opportunity was given.

Thank you all.

Yes, I agree. Won't be buying the ionic now. Had to switch the quick view
off and now need two hands to see the stats when I need to. Fit bit just
ignoted us on this.

This feature doesn't even need to be watch-specific. A schedule added to the app to control Quick View instead of a slider.

Here in the north, the reminder that I forgot to turn it off before bed is harsh. During the winter, it could even function as a supplementary alarm feature.

I find the display too bright at night. Since I'm a light sleeper  I have found the glow can disturb my sleep. Provide a night-time low setting for the display as an option.

thanks for considering this.

Unfortunately, even with quick view turned off the screen still comes on when the screen drags across the sheet. As one of the deleted posts suggested, the only way to really cure it is to cover the screen with electrical tape. Or just take it off at night, like I do.

And you're right. Fitbit doesn't listen to customer input. I bought the Charge 2 without doing much research. Had I found these forums before purchasing, I would never have chosen this product, and I won't buy another from this company.

Yes, they’re doing a great job. Lol!

Yes, the silent alarm’s great. I don’t wake my wife when I get up at 05:30.

Although I do sometimes blind her when it keeps lighting up at night!!!

I love my charge 2, never liked my surge.  I don’t know why the “no gesture control during night hours”has been ignored for years, but I think this is the best tracker on the market.

i know folks are unhappy, me too, but maybe there’s a reason it hasn’t been implemented.

it might also be worth calling and requesting, iIve done that before.

+1 here. This would be a great feature.

It could also be as simple as a toggle button in settings on the device.  Apple Watch has “theatre mode” and I’d LOVE that feature for my Ionic.  I’d use it at movies/events (esp. to “pause” the movement reminders) and at night.

Simple question:

Will it be possible to dim the light of my CHARGE 2 in the future - yes or no.

It's nice that it's possible for newer devices but it doesn't help me - who bought the charge 2 a month ago. This thing lights up the whole bedroom several times per night. My girlfriend is really not amused. Neither am I.

I switched quickview off on day one. I don't use notifications. So the display might light up because the charge 2 thinks that i'm double-knocking it (which I probably don't do when asleep). And I also don't think that I press the button while sleeping.

PLEASE get this fixed. Or is the CHARGE 2 so old that you (=fitbit) think that it's useless to update it? Or is there a CHARGE 3 which we should all buy next to solve this problem (which I will DEFINITELY not do!)

Victoria,

The Ionic does have a toggle on the device. Wake it up,  Swipe left to right and there it is.  Unfortunately I occasionally forget to do this which is why I would like an auto or time based option.

Yes, please, Fitbit developers!  I see several posts about the problem with Quick View going off at night.

I love the Quick View feature during the day, but there's no sleeping with that feature enabled.  Nobody wants to be woken by a bright Fitbit screen in their face!

And, I tell you, it's too much of a pain to turn it off each night & back on in the morning.  You have to unlock the phone, open the phone app, click a few times to get to the right menu, turn Quick View off, a few clicks to get back to the dashboard and wait for it to sync, then test to be sure it synced the change.  Twice a day.

Optimally, Quick View would automatically disable during sleep - you do know when I'm sleeping.

Alternatively, allow me to set a day & time range for it, or better yet to set up a Do Not Disturb schedule that affects Quick View & Notifications & other disturbances.  That would be fabulous.

At minimum, you could simply let me add Quick View to my Charge 2 Menu Items so I can easily turn it off & on like Notifications.

Seriously, it's bizarre to make a device for wearing at night to track sleep, then neglect to have it stop disturbing us at night.

Since it knows I'm sleeping, I'd think it could automatically disable Quick View, Notifications, etc.

But short of this (or trusting it to be accurate), I'd love be able to enter a Do Not Disturb schedule with days of the week & times.

And here's the umpteenth post about this that I see.

It looks like users have been asking for this for years!

Can we Please have a Do Not Disturb schedule to turn off features like Quick View?  How do you build a sleep-monitoring device without something like this/
