Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

For the Charge 2 Quick View I would like to be able to:

  • switch Quick View on and off from the tracker
  • customise the length of time the screen stays on
  • have a "sleep mode" for the screen so it can't be turned on by Quick View or by tapping
  • have an automatic setting for "sleep mode"

The "sleep mode" setting could be set either by turning on manually, or by a time setting for the hours of sleep, or by sensing sleep.

that was my (or more accurately) my wife's problem as well. On the Blaze
there is a setting that lets you change it, not sure on the Charge 2.

I often take it off at night now too.

You can turn it off through the app, but if you forget, and your phone isn't in the bedroom, and you have to wander through the house to get it.  It would be much easier if you could just turn quick mode on and off from the Charge2 itself.

most devices now track sleep, they should automatically go into dim mode so as not to be the reason your active / awake!

Its so bright!  (Charge HR)

Please count my vote on this too!  I'm surprised this feature request is from 2015 and no action yet.  It seems so obvious.

Bright light of the sun indeed. I just "upgraded" to a Charge 2 from an Alta.  Both are entirely too bright at night so, even though I love the Quick View, I can't use it since it wakes me up at night.  Really, if they can track our sleeping why can't they track to tone it down during that time? In addition to that, it's too bright during the day too, so why not a brightness configuration?  Come on Fitbit, this will be a battery saver as well.

I agree on the night mode LED issue, it's very bright in a dark room. I think turning off the gyro sensing screen wake feature, and replace it with a "two tap screen wake" feature would be best at night, because sometimes you do want to see what's going on with the device when you wake up during the night.

And even when you turn quick view off, it doesn't prevent the Charge 2 from turning the display on by itself at night.  I notice fairly often that if I move my arm a significant distance under the sheet, the display will turn on.  I don't know if it's the motion, of if the watch is detecting the sliding of the sheet across its face as a double tap, but it's really annoying when it blinds me in the middle of the night. I notice it often enough when I'm briefly awake to suspect it does it frequently while I'm sleeping.

As far as expecting Fitbit to do anything about this request thread, don't hold your breath. Their development team seems to have no interest in doing what their customers actually want.

Surely simple answer to too bright at night is to simply turn off quick
view and press button instead
The real problem is that it is impossible to actually see the screen in
sunlight, and there is no way to work around this WITHOUT a fitbit change

Nah, the simple answer is to program an auto dim after a certain time of
day. Cell phone and gps already do this. Daylight viewing, different
suject...

I would love this feature as well. I've woken myself up a few times in less than a week since I bought the Charge 2.

This is not a good solution. Who wants to log onto the computer every night to turn off quick view then log back on in the morning to turn it on. It has to be simple to program a dimmable time period.

I just noticed over the weekend when I was at a play that when you applaud it turns on too.

I love my Alta but it would be nice to not have the light come on in the middle of the night when I move a certain way.  THANK YOU!

would love to have a schedule for quick view as well. With the fitbits emphasis on sleep improvement this feature should have been included long time ago...

Can they make an extension for the wristband so I can wear my Fitbit on my ankle

It would be great to have a feature in the app to set a time period (say 10pm-6am) that the auto-light up feature is either dimmed greatly or off altogether. While sleeping, or getting up to go to the bathroom and laying back down, I often find my wrist moves in the direction that wakes the watch and lights up my entire bedroom. The light is very bright in a dark room and my partner will occasionally be woken by it turning on. If you disable the motion detection during the "mute" period, a user can still press the side button to view the time if needed.

The night mode should make the screen darker and make the screen more red, or less blue because the blue light keeps you awake longer, or wakes you up more.

Can we please get a night time mode added to the Charge 2?  I manage to blind myself at least once a week in the middle of the night.

Just purchased a Charge 2 and thought for sure this feature was already implemented. Please add a nighttime mode or something.

I'd like to be able to adjust the length of time of the quick view on my blaze. I work in healthcare and need to be able to time respiratory and heart rates using one of the clock faces that has a sweep hand. Right now my Blaze only views the clock for about 10 seconds and that's not enough time to get a good feel for a pulse or resipratory rate on my patient. I'd like to be able to adjust how long the screen remains lit up from the settings.
