Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

Hi @Glenn31, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us, this feature suggestion already exists so I’ve moved your post here as it is under consideration.

I also hope this option will be available. So irritating for me n mate to be suddenly flashed by the unwelcomed bright light from my charge 3 when trying to sleep in a dark room

Please implement something for the charge 2

Part of the reason I got my charge 3 was to track my sleep, however we are finding that it is actually waking me and my husband up in the night! When I turn over with my hand on top of the covers it seems to trigger the screen wake, which is surprisingly bright at 3 in the morning! This is especially annoying when it is near to one of our faces. Considering all the evidence that blue light interrupts sleep patterns, and the fact that Fitbit say they want to help me sleep better, surely this is a common sense fix which needs sorting, and fast! I am registering over an hour awake each night, and I am sure this is due in part to the multiple times it is lighting up when I am trying to sleep. All it needs is for the screen wake to be disabled whenever it detects sleep, or the ability to disable it during the night hours. Thank you.

If you hold the left side of your charge 3 where there is a flat button, you will get choice to turn off auto awake or notifications, I do that at night, still may turn on if you touch the screen, but not with movement

Any plans to have a Night Mode in app? Maybe Fitbit grey and/or black? Night Mode is much easier on your eyes and battery. Thanks.

Fitbit charge 3 needs a night mode. I was bought to help me sleep,  but all it does is wake me up many times during the night whenever i move.  I have tried wearing a sleep mask but even the dim light setting lights up my bedroom like a searchlight and i can see the light both sides of my nose.  Please include a "night mode"  for light sensitive sleepers. I am loosing so much sleep from it waking me up.

I am consistently being woken up 4-5 times a night by my Charge 3 (as is my partner!). I turn off the screen wake every night - yet as I move and wriggle at night, the Charge 3 lights up. I know during my sleep that I have not pressed the side button as no vibration/feeback was felt.

The screen wake function should mean that under no circumstances does the screen light up - unless the side button is pressed to allow the function to be reenabled. This surely is a simple fix in the code!

I came to the forum to find something just like this issue. I'm disappointed that it's "under consideration" and the original post is from 2014. I'm experiencing the same issues as everyone else. I like Quick View during the day because that's when I'm looking at my Alta HR, but I don't need that bright display shining in my face when I shuffle at night. I almost want to take it off at night, and just not care about tracking my sleep despite really enjoying the sleep tracker because I don't want to have to turn off quick view every single night.

Turn off quickview while asleep - if I move a certain way while asleep the device lights up in the middle of the night - this really annoys my partner - can there be an option to turn off quick view while asleep ?

So this feature suggestion has been active since ‎07-06-2015 ! This gives me no confidence in Fitbit listening to their users. Garmin already has this feature so it's high time that Fitbit caught up with what their users want.

This is a MUST for every smartwach, why do we have to request such a basic feature to be added? My watch woke me up a few times already.. I want to monitor my sleep, therefore I keep my watch on my wrist. But I don't want to be forced to turn off the auto quick view manually. It's called a smartwatch for a reason! Please, implement this basic function as fast as possible.

I'm sure some of the micro wake ups reported by Fitbit are because of this feature - I strongly suspect Fitbit DEGRADES sleep with Quickview enabled - to the extent that I believe my body has become "conditioned without awareness" to move my left arm when asleep to minimize the visible light flashes.

And even with Quick View OFF it will STILL wake you up when you dare to move
- should be such a simple fix but they just refuse !!! Sure wish somebody
would develop a Do Not Disturb app...

I too need this. Especially when I am putting my kid to sleep and I move my arms, this lights up and distracts her. Badly need a night-time off.

I highly support this idea. It is anoying to wake up because of the Fitbit light popping up every time i turn in my bed. I sleep with my head on my hand so my face is close to the watch.

-This option would give a longer battery life time

-Blue light disturbes sleep.

I love Quick View, but also HATE that my Charge 3 screen light up in bed whenever I move.

A simple solution: Fitbit adds a toggle to automatically disable Quick View based on the user's bedtime/wakeup time goal, which is already a feature in the FitBit app.

This has been "under construction" for 3 years.

Can we see some movement on it? Having the light waking me up randomly on Charge 3 renders it useless as the sleep tracker I bought it for.

DirkWidmore

Reading that they really didn't implent this bug fix (IMHO this is not a feature - it's a BUG!) in the Charge 3 doesn't give me much hope that they'll ever fix this.

This should be enabled by default for all kinds of activities including sleeping. Besides being annoying it wastes the battery to have the screen keep randomly lighting up when swimming for example.

So this suggestion has been made since 2014 with over 7000 people requesting it...and it is still under consideration?  What is the holdup?!?

I'm pretty sure it's not about 'not liking to fix stuff' - it's more about the harsh reality that profitability is about making hardware sales. Spending money on software developers to fix things detracts from the bottom line and doesn't generate income, particularly since you only see these comments once you have bought a Fitbit device. The Apple watch would have hurt sales too - although I guess you would have some people like me who first bought an Apple watch, then returned it because it was too heavy and bulky. I do like the size and weight of the Charge 3 and the fact that I can keep my iPhone on silent and the Charge 3 notifies me when I have a message or a call on the iPhone. Sometimes I wish that the text of the messages on the screen was a bit bigger - my 64 y/o eyes can't read the message - I dare not ask for that to be a user setting in the Fitbit app either!

In spite of some peevish comments I posted earlier about selling my Charge 3 if I could, I've got used to the shortcomings and while I wish I could annotate my sleep notes, and turn off the screen light at night, I'm generally happy with it.

You pretty much nailed that it comes down to hardware sales. BUT, if people know that it behaves this way, then they would be more
likely to look at another hardware solution that is not Fitbit.
Beelady11
Recovery Runner
Exactly!
This should be treated as a bug with some urgency, not have to be requested
(and ignored) by the manufacturer.
I have to put a wristband over mine to stop it waking me up; even the 'dim'
setting lights the room up like a fairground at night, not what you want on
a sleep monitor ....
When people enquire about my fitbit, I tell them not to waste their money
and get a cheaper one that functions properly, eg Huawei.
