Turn off quick view when I'm sleeping (or at customizable times) aka 'Night Mode'

I love the quick view feature however when I'm sleeping I tend to wave my arms around which activates the display which sometimes wakes me up, especially if my wrist is close to my face.

My fitbit knows when I'm sleeping as it tracks my sleep so how about having the capability to disable quick view automatically whilst I'm sleeping, in fact don't even have it as a selectable option just don't trigger quick view when my fitbit knows I'm sleeping.

The Charge 3 device has a feature called Screen Wake which can be switched off (this requires the inductive button to be "pressed" to wake the screen) or it can be set to Auto which automatically wakes the screen when the wrist is rotated quickly.  The latter is the most useful & natural option, however, at night the auto screen wake can be triggered unintentionally which can disturb sleep for the user or partner (in a dark room the screen can be quite bright).  My suggestion is to have an option to disable auto screen wake when the user is asleep or alternatively between hours set by the user.

I've used Fitbit products for over 6 years and after staying away for a couple of years (due to the disintegrating straps on Charge 2) I purchased a Charge 3. The 2 features I bought it for are heart rate tracking and sleep tracking. After a couple of weeks of being woken up almost every night by the automatic screen activation, I'm about to give up on the company again.

I see plenty of interest in this feature from other users so I'm hoping we'll get at least a response from Fitbit soon. Gotta say, Fitbit has some draconian culture when it comes to the relationship with their customers Request to turn of quick view at night

We have noticed that when I'm wearing my Charge 3 at night and I turn over, the Charge 3's screen turns on for the usual few seconds. That's expected, but in a dark room it is very bright! My Charge 3's screen brightness is set to "Automatic", but it seems like it could be smarter.

Would it be possible to reduce the brightness of the screen "at night"? I would suggest using the time of day as a clue, and perhaps whether sleep tracking is active or not as a second clue.

Nice suggestion, thanks for sharing @chrisridd! We look forward to hearing what other community members think about having this option on the Charge 3! Robot Happy

I quite agree with this suggestion. I cannot understand what the difference is between Brightness Auto and Normal, they seem the same. As a minimum, Auto should force Brightness Dim when Sleep is detected.

This may not be new...the Clock display at night.

I suggest when people track their sleep and start a sleep log

  1. the BRIGHTNESS shifts to Low
  2. the AWAKE feature is turned off
  3. once sleep is DONE, they revert back where the features were.

I agree. This is quite annoying, no only for me but also for my wife.

Agreed, and maybe also make the watch less sensitive to movement.... my Fitbit constantly lights up while I'm falling asleep, even with "Screen Wake" turned OFF... the slightest bump causes the watch face to light up, and even on Dim its super bright. My normal night routine ends up being turn Screen Wake off, turn Brightness to Dim. Every. Night.

Also, fix Auto Brightness to actually function, because I've never gotten it to be anything other than Normal brightness... even in a pitch black room.

Actually that's a good point @Michsam23 - what is Auto Brightness supposed to do?

I think you need to set manually select the Dim selection on the Brightness feature before bed then set it to normal or auto in the morning.

No one knows what auto brightness does, it's crazy that Fitbit would have a setting that's totally useless

I've found this too! Sometimes when I'm falling asleep i move and the screen wakes and wakes me up too! Had a Samsung watch which had a Sleep or night feature where once turned on or sleep was detected the screen wouldn't come one with touch or movement ( unless a button was pressed) and no notifications.

This would be a really handy feature if fitbit could add something similar

I was just about to submit a suggestion for this. It is such a PITA to continually change my brightness settings from Auto to Dim each night on my charge 3. Or turn off the Screen Wake setting.

Can you please include a setting so that users can nominate between certain times the screen brightness dims.

For example:

IF (currentTime >= 10pm) and (currentTime <= 7am) {
setBrightness = 'DIM'
}
ELSE {
setBrightness = 'AUTO'
}

If the fitbit could be adjusted automatically to dim at a time the customer
chooses that would be great. Set it once and it would dim automatically at
that time and brighten up to normal in the morning.

It is completely ridiculous that the clock face deactivation during sleep has not been implemented yet! This is a fundamental user interface gaff that quite frankly should have been identified prior to market. I've only had my Inspire for a week and the screen illuminating the room whenever I move or adjust my pillow is one of the most frustrating things I've ever experienced, not to mention an imposition on my partner!

I'm sure this is a simple software update fix so why is this taking you so long?

I'm considering returning my new Inspire HR because the screen light wakes me up when I turn over, with "screen wake" off. One of the reasons I wanted it was for sleep tracking, but the screen lighting up when it rubs the sheets or whatever else ... well, it defeats the purpose of wearing the fitbit for sleep tracking. I'd like a "sleep mode" where I have to press the button to see the screen.

For us old folk that have had eye problems ie detached retinas in the past a symptom  is flashes of light.   It would be nice to have the ability to set the brightness with more time granularity.

Yes, all you can do is set the brightness to auto.

+1 ! This would be SO nice.
Pretty please FitBit. I love my versa, but it wakes me up at least three times a week because I move my hand while sleeping and it shines light in my face. This would make my night time tracking so much more comfortable. 🙂

Wow. 7324 votes for this feature dating all the way back to June 2014.  An ultra-simple software update to disable Quick View during the designated Sleep Hours and it still hasn't been implemented.  Restless nights are exactly when you want to monitor your sleep and the ****** watch keeps you awake!

@DirkWidmore

Clearly there have been more requests for BitMojis. They've been asking for those in the 10s of 1000's for more than 10 years.

Fixing this bug has only had a few 1000 requests and has only been around for a few years.

Perhaps it could be set to only turn on with a button press and not a movement during the designated sleep period.

Any update on this? The Mi Band 3 has this.
