I'm in a wheelchair and obviously then don't need a step counter but I'm active and would like to track when I'm rolling. When my speed gets up to cardio level etc. Basically everything except the step counter. Blood pressure would be a great tracker as well.
My father-in-law broke his hip and is rehabilitating with a walker. I want him to increase his step count every day. He's used his Flex for a couple of years but it's not picking up his shuffling steps.
Fitbit, this is a large market. Lots of people moving into and out of rehabilitation programs and facilities. You can help them and create a new niche. Interested?
After having no luck getting fitbit interested, I took matters into my own hands. I purchased an extension for the band and now wear it on my ankle. Works like a charm! The only downside - I'm afraid people think I am wearing an ankle monitor when I venture out in public.

I bought through amazon, I wish fitbit would make a larger band - this one works but it isn't ideal. My doc actually said that my HR is more accurate at ankle. Good luck with your recovery.
Wheelchair user and fitbit Charge 2 user. I wish there were setups for wheelchair use. (I'd considered an Apple Watch, but liked that fitbit tracks sleep and can be worn overnight.) As it is, I have no idea whether the caloric burn for wheeling around is closer to "walk" or "hike". My partner has a fitbit Blaze, and it's odd that although when we walk together (I wheel myself), my distance travelled matches that on his iPhone, but is way more than his Blaze.
Hi I recently saw the Iconic debut on Android central. I have to say I like it. The one suggestion I do have though since I looked at your OS which looks very polished, is can you include a way to track pushes in a wheelchair or when someone is holding a walker or pram or lawnmower with both hands in front of them; as being a physically disabled person I find we as a market of people are severely limited on choice of fitness trackers if we have an Android device; Apple are the only ones i am aware of that tracks pushes, when android devices are a bigger market share, why not capitalise on this and the fact Fitbit is an award winning range of products already to further develop the brand and increase market exposure to the physically disabled community and elderly that while we get around differently still wish to keep fit
Hello Debbi My fitbit the flex 2 indicates active minutes as well as intensity. It tracks my steps as well as mileage and type of activity. I'm not sure they have a product that tracks blood pressure but I know they do have one that tracks heart rate.
I would love to see a fitbit that would be a benefit for wheelchair users that incorporates pushes instead of steps and excercises too like hand bikes, weights, boxing and distance / timed pushes.
While I definitely think they should work on wheelchair specific tech, in the meantime have you considered using bike mode? It's not the same but is probably the closest of their current options. Especially if you're going to be wheel around for quite awhile and not just around the house.
No I hadn't to be honest but surely you would need that on all day and not just for a working out or am I missing something here? The FITBIT tells me distance and steps including calories burnt on WORKOUT MODE but I wouldn't like to say that it's accurate for a wheelchair user.
I don't think bike mode would help a lot in accounting for everything but if a person were to be active for any length of time because they were running errands or just wheeling around for exercise than it might help. It's not ideal but if a wheelchair user already owned a FitBit device it might be something to consider while FitBit hopefully develops more accurate and specialised equipment for wheelchair users.
I have just purchased a Fitbit Ionic. I am a wheelchair tennis player and train 5 days a week. I was wondering whether there are any plans to develop a feature for wheelchair users much like the Apple Watch, where number of pushes are counted as opposed to number of steps throughout the day.
I think it is such a great feature that the Apple Watch has, and if I had an iPhone then I probably would have been swayed towards the iWatch for this reason. But I am a Android user (and always will be) so it would be amazing if this feature could be looked into for the Ionic.
Hi @Dandipants thanks so much for sharing your suggestions with us. Regarding your first request for different pendents, I wanted to let you know that there aren't currently plans to release alternatives. Regarding your other suggestions, there are a couple of existing Feature Suggestions which might be of interest:
In the spirit of streamlining votes and keeping one idea per suggestion, I'll merge your suggestion into the wheelchair mode one and please do vote on the ankle suggestion if that's of interest. Thanks again.
I would love a dedicated wheelchair tracker on this app. I use a manual wheelchair and have adapted my 'step' as best I can but would love for an accurate reading on self propulsion
