Bringing App Design into Fitbit

I am a first time app designer. I've designed a health app that I would like to work on a number of different devices, including Fitbit. Can I design an app outside of the Fitbit Studio and it still work with FitBit? Or to allow my customers to use my app on your device, do I have to build it with your developer?

You can use the command line tools to build and install apps, you don't need to use Studio. https://dev.fitbit.com/build/guides/command-line-interface/
