Coach app icon is blank and click it tries to launch it but fails.
gif of it failing to load: https://i.imgur.com/6eNJqmq.gifv
One time, trying to launch it also crashed my watchface but haven't reproduced that.
No way to uninstall coach app to reinstall it.
Firmware 27.30.2.8

I had quite a crash after a built-in FitBit watch face failed to install... My device was completely bricked for about half an hour. Anyone know a way to opt-out of beta firmware for now? Right now I'd rather have a stable working watch than this beta dev firmware

I am also looking for a way to back out of the dev firmware. Since installing the dev firmware, notifications have stopped working. I have tried resetting the Ionic but still no notifications.
@Fitbit, could you please give instructions on how to remove the dev firmware until such a time it becomes more stable ?

You should probably try a factory reset, then update again.
Remove the device from your account in the Fitbit mobile app, then delete the bluetooth pairing, followed by:
Factory reset
Press and hold all buttons until the Fitbit logo appears, when it disappears release the bottom right button, keep holding the other two buttons until you feel a vibration, then let go of the buttons.

But the dev firmware is tied to the fitbit account — any time the Ionic is paired with my account it will just install the dev firmware, won't it?

I was replying to the original topic about Fitbit Coach, sorry.
As stated, once opted into the developer firmware, there isn't currently a method to opt out. You can create a separate Fitbit account, factory reset the device and it will update to the non-developer firmware.

You say "as stated", but I actually couldn't find that anywhere. And if I remember correctly, the terms of use said that to use the IDE I would be opting in for dev firmware. I never imagined there would be no way to back out of that. Is there really no way for support to mark my account for stable builds or something? The stable channel is getting faster updates, not the other way around like I would expect. I'm a casual dev, I primarily bought this watch for personal use. I really just wanted to take a look at the IDE and I figured I could always opt out of the beta firmware later.

Ah, I did finally find "as stated" — but I never saw that (https://dev.fitbit.com/getting-started/) before I installed it. I just went right to the fitbit studio page. Would be good to include as part of the fitbit studio setup process...

@JonFitbit, do you recommend us developers create another separate fitbit account (different email) and use that to develop on the Ionic and when we want to go back to using the Ionic for personal reasons, we do a hard reset and login back to our original fitbit account?

Yes, that's definitely the way to go.

Hi @JonFitbit
Are you or is the support able to remove the "developer" flag from my account?
My reason: I want to use a different account for developing with the ionic. My main account (which I am currently using) should be a normal account with the normal firmware.
When I would create a new account for normal firmware I would lose all my data from the last years with blaze..

You cannot be serious about needing to create a separate account. I hope this gets fixed. I added the dev firmware to dabble in the programming. The fact that it cannot be removed and you guys neglected to tell us this is rather myopic. I hope you guys working on a fix. I am not creating a new account after having 3 years of stored data on this one.

Hi Jon,
I'm not suggesting you drop your account, I just suggested that people can use a separate account for development and personal use. The getting started guide and the blog post both stated that it's not possible to opt out of the developer firmware at this time.
With the official release of the App Gallery later this fall, the developer firmware we're beta testing now will become the official firmware used by everyone. We will also provide a way for users to opt out of the development firmware releases in the future.
I hope that clears things up for you.
Jon

Good to hear there will be just one firmware when the dust settles 🙂

It seems like there's been some decent discussion here around how to segregate development accounts, but nothing addressing the `Coach` app logo being broken once dev firmware was installed.
My scenario shows a FitBit logo, not a blank space, which is somewhat better. Ionic Version 27.30.3.2
Is that something I missed in reading this thread?

My suggestion was to try a factory reset. Instructions are above. Let me know if that doesn't work.

I tried everything that you said and it still didn't work. What else do you suggest?

Once you're in that position, you need to remove the Ionic from your account, delete the bluetooth pairing, then add the Ionic to your account again.
