Did you mean:

Force firmware reload.

ANSWERED

I'm a first year programming student and currenlt learning java.

Last night I was going through Fitbit's ionic clock tutorial and experimenti with changing the perimeters in code as it suggested.

Now all my apps that are built into the OS have no icons and crash every time I try launching them. I can install 3rd party programs and they open and run fine.

i tried a hard reset on the buttons, didn't fix the problem. Can't factory reset the watch because the settings app won't launch.

Insteaf of helping me, Fitbit's sent me to this forum.

is there anyway to force the Ionic to reload the firmware?

Accepted Solutions

You can do a hard reset

  1. Remove the Ionic from your account.
  2. Delete the bluetooth pairing.
  3. Press and hold all buttons on the device.
  4. Wait until the Fitbit logo disappears, then release the bottom right button.
  5. Wait until you feel a vibration, then release the other buttons.
  6. You will probably see a red X message, just ignore that and setup the device again.

I *believe* you can factory reset by holding down all buttons (like the hard reset except with all 3)?  I thought I saw that somewhere, although it may be more complicated than I remember.

Unfortunately I had the developer firmware installed when it happened. I linked the ionic to another fitbit account hoping it would require the firmware to downgrade since the account wasn't set up as a developer. Sadly it did not.

Minigo,

it does not. Tried it multiple times. It's just a hard reset.

@W477y - the directions in the third post from the following link worked for me:

Note that when you see the red X with error message you should then go back to the app and start the add new device process.

Hi @alpha1947 - this is an old post you have tagged onto.

Probably best to chat via the Fitbit App, Help & support section, Contact Customer support, to make sure you get a resolution if your watch doesn't have a fault.

Even so look in your watch forum for solutions which may be more appropriate, such as setting up your watch again using the correct procedures.
